    Of note was that during this series the only time the NHL won, Edmonton and Quebec, the Soviets did not play Tretiak. Both of those wins were with their backup, Myshkin, in the net

    I do not understand the decision of the coach of the North Stars to put on such an important game weak goalkeeper. Let's say starting goalie Gilles Meloche was injured, but why the second power of the goalkeeper Don Beaupre put only before the third period?

    • @markanderson77
      @markanderson77 Před 4 lety +1

      I'll tell you why. Being it was a game that didn't count for the standings, it was a chance to experiment and test people out.

    Vidlivs is demented!
    A seven game series traveling between Northlands or Nassau, and Luzhnikhi? During the 1980's? You're straight trippin'
    Part of the series with NHL rules and officiating, and the other part on international size (frozen lake) ice with international officials(??)
    1980 was exactly what it was titled...a miracle.
    Wasn't it another four years, and several matches, before Team USA won another game? And that was in a pre Olympic tune up in New York against CCCP "B" selects?
    You may not like them, but they are the fathers of the speed and mobility of today's game. No North American player skates or trains like they did back in those days.
    Don't believe it? Read Herb Brooks

    Миннесота-крепкий середняк тех лет.В 1981 году была даже в финале кубка Стэнли,так что соперник ,вполне,на уровне.И ,в целом ,соперники в турне были сильные и титулованные,тем приятнее общая победа в серии 4 2

      I can remember going to watch the North Stars play the Soviets when I was a young kid, and they lost that one, too. It was a different year than this, the mid to late 80s. The Soviets played a different style than the NHL. Skating and passing. They never missed a pass. And when the Russians started coming to the NHL en masse, like with the Red Wings, they dominated.

      The novelty of these mid-season exhibition games versus Soviet teams had ended.

    • @josephjanezich655
      @josephjanezich655 Před 2 lety +1

      That clearly is not the only factor why the North Stars left Minnesota. Nice try.

    • @alexchristopher221
      @alexchristopher221 Před 2 lety +1

      Maybe the fans were too embarrassed to support the Stars after the Soviets humiliated their team. And many people may have decided not to show up because they feared the Stars would be humiliated.
