      Этот тревожный звонок - плохая организация игры внутри команды.
      Много суеты. Выход на классе обернулся догонялками с канадой, а в случае с сша, игрой по взлому закрытой обороны. В результате финал уплыл к американцам-студентам, которые были сверх мотивированы.
      Лейк-плесид был специально так подготовлен для унижения the soviets.
      Студенты-ботаники обыграли профи-качков умной игрой, а не мускулами. Сейчас это называют антихоккей. Тогда борьбой с советской угрозой.

    Not that I´m a Soviet Union fan or anything but I´ve just watched a documentary about CCCP hockey on swedish TV. A russian guy involved with the national team made a comment about the miracle in ice. "If a random guy gets a kiss from Sophia Loren he will talk about it for the rest of his life, Sophia Loren probably won´t even remember". Between 1954 and 1992 the CCCP had 22 gold and 7 silver medals in the world championships (not played in an olympic year) and 7 gold and 1 silver (1980) in the olympics. It´s hard not to be impressed.

    • @Craig-ib7gk
      @Craig-ib7gk Před 7 lety

      You don't have to be a fan to respect that talent, coaching, and training regiment. The WC and OG records for the soviets from their entrance into the world hockey arena in the mid 50s through the 1980s is simply amazing. The average tenure of a player on this particular squad was over nine years, with some as long as 15 years. They were, by all measures, a *machine*. The Canadians played with everything they had in this game for two periods. Their style of hockey was a much better matchup against the Soviets than anything anyone else had at the time, save for Brook's hybrid of Canadian/Soviet style, and that was *barely* good enough.
      Regarding the MOI, had the Soviets not been so overconfident and played with the assumption of victory, it would likely have been a different story. It's one thing to enter into a game believing you *can* win; it's quite another to go in assuming you *will* win. The latter usually lacks a true wild card in sports: **hungar**. Playing without it can have disastrous consequences.

    • @dempalundquist703
      @dempalundquist703 Před 7 lety

      You´re right of course. They underrated their opponent big time. I think they admitted that in the very same documentary I watched. Which is one of the reasons they sent their best team to the 1981 Canada Cup and beat Canada in the final game by 8-1. And by the way, those Canada vs CCCP hockey games in the 80´s, weren´t those something? I really miss that. No real rivals in international hockey today, No Canada Cup, No Olympics.....

      lol. Their first two lines had some of the most skilled players in the world at the time. Not to mention they were a cohesive unit.

    Professional Veteran Age Soviet National Team Roster barely beat Amateur Canadian College Age Level Team 6-4 and losing to American Amateur College Age Level Team 4-3. That is like the equivalent of World Junior Teenager National Teams beating an NHL Veteran Professional National Team Roster.

    T34 you are joking right? If anything the refs were clearly on the Sideof the soviets canada had more penalties than the soviets did , they let golikov get away with his illegal stick, the stick that scored the tying and winning goals

    This was Canada's first Men's Olympic Hockey Team in 12 years! (None since 1968, missing the 72 and 76 games). Canada had their lowest finish in the hockey rankings in Olympic history in 1980.
    But hey, it's the Russians, so what else is new?

      The USSR knew how to play hockey. Yes, there is not the first composition of Canada, but in 1981 they beat the first composition of Canada 8-1. And they always played Canada on an equal footing.
