I got a 2012 BMW 335is perfect condition 48,000 miles for $28,000 and put in $2500 after market parts and got a 4 second car for a little over $30,000.

I love the simplicity of those freakin' gauges. One of the biggest reason I haven't liked the modern-retro Mustangs is because of those stupid deep dish gauge wells. They aren't even angled properly so you can see your speed and RPMs.

Motor Trend's M2 they tested had a crooked driver's seat. They said this was by design for safety reasons (side impact testing). Did you have the same issue?

Saw one of these in the wild today, beautiful white with the black wheels and trim. Car strikes a perfect balance of striking design without being too much or attracting too much attention. Exhaust sounds good and it is a good size. Probably my favorite bimmer since m135i
1M was great but the M2 seems so much greater. I think both cars are good representations of what BMW was during the 70s and 80s. I hope BMW keeps that notion throughout the modern world.
The best bimmer that you can buy today in my opinion....okay maybe the M4 GTS, but that one is a unicorn.
First time in years BMW made a car that I'm strongly considering to buy one for my wife since she loves to drive my E63 and this should fit the bill quite nicely.

+rodney hawkins wow! 8 seconds in an 8 minute test. And Bmw accomplished the feat using 245 series 19 inch tires to make up for a crude suspension. Speaking from experience. Never missed my M3 - crude suspension and wooden steering. BMW must be spending a ton on generating hype..
What a dumb comment. You said the sti would "eat it's lunch", meaning it would not only win, but do so significantly. When I give the example that it doesn't win, your reply is "well, it's only 8 seconds on a 8 min track". Lol. Makes sense. Oh, and the excuse that the m2 needs bigger tires is a cop out, anyone else could come back and say the STI "needs AWD" to perform like it does. They all need traction, but get there in different ways.
+hawkinsrod sorry for the delayed response. I was busy hugging my WRX!! A couple things: a) try not to be rude as its a giveaway that you are unable to converse intelligibly. B) the correlation between BMW and VW/Audi is that they both cheat. BMW cheats by generating performance numbers using unrealistic rims and tires to hide the fact their suspension is crap. Try living with the car for a while and you will realize you've been duped. The goal for both is to cut costs while generating stats and numbers the bought and paid for trade mags can impress their gullible audiences with. The fuhrer has no clothes it seems!! Now don't get your knickers in a knot. We are only having fun here. I am not saying you need to start selling your Hitler memorabilia or anything like that..
Cheat on wheels and tires? All the independent track times I tend to see is that they are faster than the STI. How is that "cheating"? I had an m3 for 6 years and am fairly aware of the vehicle, thank you. Moved on to P-car, certainly not gonna sell that because some 15-year-old thinks that a WRX king of the road. Whatever makes you happy.
+hawkinsrod Flip em digits, 15 to get 51 + 5 = 56, that's me age. Anyhow, 15 year olds must be on to something because the STi is a hell of a car. If you must drive German then give Porsche a try. Not the one with in the engine in the wrong place but the cheaper Boxster, in S trim soft or hardtop version. Ok the air cooled 911's were fun too. Better stop myself now before I forget my grudge and admit that those nazis do know how to built a car after all! It was fun arguing cars with you, made me forget my age..

+Manik Sharma I'll keep my S54 over any modern BMW turbo engine. Like Mike said, It doesn't replace engines like the S54, S65 and S85 which were the pinnacle of NA engine design for many years.
Would it shock you to know that the M2 weighs just 50 kg less than the M4? How could Mike in his right mind compare the M2 to the E30 and the 2002 given the weight of the thing. The E30 and 2002 are light weight sports cars with busy little engines up front, if anything the Toyota GT86 is closer to these cars weighing in at 2800 lb curb weight.
I don't aspire to this mainstream malarkey that BMW is trying to sell us along with the other two German makers. The driving feel is shit with EPS, I've yet to feel a system that doesn't make me lose confidence in the car. Turbo engines don't have the drama and the flare to capture my heart like a good NA engine does. The worst crime has to be the synthetic noise that they pump into the cabin of the M4, did they just give up on making it sound good? The stock airbox in my E46 M3 makes noises that synth could only dream of.

I really like this car. But with a 2, 3, and 4 series in production (is the 1 still being made?). I have a hard time identifying these cars when I see them. I kind of liked when you would see a badass looking bmw and ask your self is that an m3? Or and m5? Regardless awesome car!
