The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

One of the greatest vocalist of all time. She is the one who forced Reagan to say “AIDS” for the first time in a press conference. She gave up all of the rights to “That’s What Friends Are For” and donated 100% of the profits to AMFAR. They benefit from that to this day. She’s a remarkable human.
No in ear monitors, no backing track, no auto tune.. this is live with an orchestra.. so classy and her vocals are the best ever.. 🎵
Not very often Ed had an orchestra on the show! Truly outstanding performing her hits!! I love her version, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling"! Job well done Ms. Dionne Warwick!! The memories! I'm 64, and this is so refreshing!!! 💅💅💅
yes this is talent
Yes, the way music use to be done!! Dionne still rocks those vocals today!
Yeaaa
The way this is written, you seem to think monitors are artistically compromising lol
She is like a human nightingale singing clear and sweet. Love you, Ms. Warwick!!! A true legend
she was stunning here
And that, kids, is world-class talent!
I love how she slid that thank you in there at 2:11. Simply classy!
I was just going to say the same thing!
Dionne slipped another thank you in at 0:27 🙂
Incredible breath control
@@joranmikel7339 the best!
Class and style at its finest!
Kind of blown away by how she can switch tempos at the drop of a dime. I know very little about music, but her breath control, tone and range seems so easy and natural but I know how impossible it is for me to even sing half of these songs.
I love Dionne's light, natural and ethereal voice. It always seems to come more from heaven than earth...
Elvis got her on top of the charts. He met her in Vegas and the king went to all the record stores and signed his name on the albums. There's film of her telling the story.
Wow. A very beautiful pregnant Dionne in this clip! She’s glowing and sounded amazing!
I didn't know Dionne performed this many times on the Ed Sullivan Show! I love it!
I think Dionne perform 3 or 4 times on the Ed Sullivan Show! Not sure I love it too!
Me too
This is when REAL ,live Music was the Standard... an Orchestra, no Auto tune, No ear monitors... Pure ,clear, with an amazing voice that is so recognizable.
Beautiful, classy, and we thank you, Mr. Burt Bacharach for taking this songstress from backup singer ( nothing wrong with that ,BTW!) and giving others the Gift of her voice.... the opportunity to hear Miss Dionne Warwick.
Her voice!!! That's all I have to say.
I bet her baby she was carrying during this performance was in heaven in her womb. Her voice is like a Billion Angels ☺️
Yes she was definitely pregnant here.
@@pedward323 She was pregnant with her first child, David Elliot Both of her sons are in the music industry.
Please keep these Dionne clips coming. Love her.
Dionne Warwick is celebrating her 81 birthday today, December 12, 2021 She was born in Orange, New Jersey on December 12, 1940. She is an American singer, television host, and former Goodwill Ambassador for the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization. Warwick ranks among the 40 biggest US hit makers between 1955 and 1999, based on her chart history on Billboard's Hot 100 pop singles chart. She is one of the most-charted female vocalists of all time, with 56 of her singles making the Hot 100 between 1962 and 1998 (12 of them Top Ten), and 80 singles in total - either solo or collaboratively - making the Hot 100, R&B and/or adult contemporary charts
Dione here I see you beautiful woman
Forget the superb singing, she was a beauty as well.
She’s iconic and a legend. Her voice is unique and she is a beautiful person and a great singer.
The tight, extended close ups of Dionne are the production realizing she can carry the moment. All they need to do is lock in, and her voice, stage presence & beauty will do the rest. This is one of her finest performances ever. Even the way she thanks the audience during 'I Say A Little Prayer' song is beautiful.
Alfie. No-one sings Alfie like Dionne Warwick.
One of my personal music medleys from the Ed Sullivan show when the show was in it's prime
The epitome of class and elegance, oh and that majestic voice. LOVE Miss Dionne.
Beautiful just Beautiful! And many thanks to the great composer Burt Bacharach, and lyricist Hal David for their numerous outstanding collaborations during Dionne's successful career! Bravo!
The three of them, Dionne Warwick-Burt Bacharach-Hal David, were a triumvirate of talent.
@Kellie Williams Her "Walk On By" was recorded originally in late 1963 and a humongous hit in 1964. That was before my time, but I would say, though, not her first record, her first large hit song.
Yes absolutely! There just aren't singers like this anymore or very few fabulous voices.
High quality from such an outstanding artist!
That my friends is perfection.......
An amazing performance. Breathtaking.
This is just beautiful !!!
KENNEDY CENTER HONORS for the legendary, iconic and beautiful Ms. DIONNE WARWICK!
i love that dress!
Beautiful then, beautiful now. Dione is a treasure!
feels so good to listen to her
This is definitely one of her best live performances vocally 🎯. Simply Beautiful 🥰
She is perfect!
I'm astounded by her vocal technique. Great singer!
She makes it look so easy.
PERFECTION.
Greatest female vocalist of all time, no one comes close love you Dionne.
Ellla, Sarah, Dinah, Mahalia, Aretha, Patti, Gladys, Chaka, Tina, Donna, Natalie, Whitnet, Mariah, Céline, Mary J, Brandy, Christina, Beyoncé, Pink, Alicia, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Ariana, all of these ones are zero level? Mah!
@@massimosigismondi699 Beyonce, Lady Gaga, seriously? Ella, Gladys Knight (in my top 3) Whitney, Chaka Kahn, Aguilera all great. Funny, I don't see Striesand mentioned here. It's the timbre of Dionnes voice for me, a matter of taste. Maybe you like Rocky Road and I like Butter Pecan. I would put Marilyn McCoo in with the great ones also, and she's the best looking too.
So classy.
One of the greatest performers ever. Such great songs.
This clip popped up on my news feed this morning. I've said it before: Warwick's recordings stir deep and sweeping memories of my growing up years. For me, these songs (and her voice singing them) hold a dominant place in my mental soundtrack of the 1960's.
Burt Bacharach, who wrote the music, always gets the credit for her success, but that's not fair. Without Hal David's brilliant and powerfully evocative lyrics, these melodies would be nothing more than elevator music.
They were a triumvirate of talent.
@Kellie Williams They all worked together as a team to produce such gargantuan hits that have endured to the present.
THE UNDISPUTED MISS DIONNE WARWICK !!!
What a rich, full instrument her voice was...is!!
Simply the best........no argument.
It’s the thank you at the beginning of Walk on by she’s so classy and humble
I agree 🫡
Love this!!
Dionne Warwick is such a master class and very respectful 👏 !!!
The transition from San Jose to Say A Little Prayer…Brilliant! 2:01
Geez ED she had been a star for years before 68. Of course he called Buddy Holly "Tex" after he finished singing his song.
Legendary Songstress Dionne Warwick delivers ✨ hit after Classic hit performs with such grace n Soul emotions. Lovely lady. - 💖
Hey Diana this is talent !
I fall in love with her anew each time I see her perform. She’s one of a kind!
Great music is the closest thing we have to time travel.
God almighty. She is something.💓Such a beautiful, distinctive sound. Makes me cry.
I believe she was pregnant here.....man, what a gifted beauty....and them songs, Hal David and Burt Bacharach, good as it gets.
I’m in love all over again ❤️
One of my favorite artists of the 60’s. Nice to hear good music that took our minds off the turmoil that was going at the time. So no I won’t be saying nothing like the good old days. Good days for some, depending where you lived and challenging for others.
Not to much different from todays time. We just had a lot less artist on the radio at that time we could keep track of them. Same problems today as for that time. Maybe a touch better but if you were to ask me back in those days where we would be 50 years later I would have thought we would be a whole lot better off!
@@rondothard1698 I believe we are better off today as a whole.
You Better SING Ms Dionne Warwick 🤗🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗🤗
WOW!!!! What a gem!
She's royalty
Beautiful ! 😍😀
夢のようです!ありがとうございます。🎉
Como canta a Dionne, lindo!
Wonderful.
Love it.
We love Burt Bacharach !
Beautiful...simply beautiful
Ultimate performance
Thank you Burt Bacharach
AND Hal David ... he's so often overlooked. Without his deep and penatrating lyrics all this would be is elevator music.
@@Ransomhandsome They were a triumvirate of talent, the three of them together.
What voice.
The transition from San Jose to Say A Little Prayer…Brilliant!
Best composition from Ray Block diones "vocal tonality" hit singles from these hits are paramount and monumental and are viral to the passion of her fans. My favorite version of alphie at 2:43
Post more video clips from 1968-71 pleaseeee!!!

Wow!
Legend! Surprised to hear her sing Valley Of The Dolls! I've seen her in concert 5 times in the past 30 years and she NEVER sings that song in concert! This is also the only clip of her performing the song that's on You Tube!
@@detroitcityman6622 thanks!
She also performed the song in medley form on "An Evening With Dionne Warwick At Park West" it's on CZcams, as well as the album "Hot! Live And Otherwise"
There is live audio on youtube
Awww !!thank you for making my wish come true!! Merry Christmas in advance!!!!
She's a international treasure!
She's the best.
So good, my favorite.
Such a beautiful dress!
She never gets enough credit.
Before there was “Adele Dazeem”, there was “Dye-On Warwick” 🤣
This era of time had its problems, but I'd go back to then, than live through the future being pushed these days.
Este video es una joya musical, hermosas melodías, extraordinaria cantante. Gracias Dionne por tu música 🎵🎼😊🎤
Beys singin confirms what I always thought about her voice, its Bomb!! Its only material I liked of hers.
My Richard Daniel Garcia rip love!!!!!!lll!llllll❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
When women could sing with their clothes on and still be sexy . what a talented woman she was / is. Imagine some of the female singers today having to be on stage and sing without auto tune and being half naked ? No way could they compete with the greatness of these fine ladies of the 60s.
Yes, the women talent of that era, those such as Dionne, had class. She took style cues from Marlene Dietrich, as she has often implied and has been stated by others.
That is so true.
She has that pregnancy glow here. 😃
Bella mujer
I winced when Ed fucked up her name. I was alive during the run of this show and he tore up a lot of names. Well, hope everyone enjoys the clips.
Man oh man.....Ed just couldn't pronounce Dionne's name correctly! Oh well....I'll just enjoy the clips!
That was painful for Ed Sullivan to mispronounce Dionne Warwick's name. Smh
彼女の歌声は心に響きます
@@AdrianDeVore He could not pronounce "show" as show, but "shew," as in a direct quote, "It's going to be a real big shew." He meant show. He was known for his mispronunciations. However, the show, which began as "Toast of the Town" in 1948 was on until 1971, so it was an iconic show that was so popular at that time. The theater that David Letterman did and now Steven Colbert does his show from is called the Ed Sullivan Theater.
Additionally, the actress-singer Nanette Fabray changed the spelling of her name because, as it was spelled "Fabares," he said what sounded like Fa-bare-ass. True story. Diane instead of Dionne not so big a mispronunciation compared to that.
Merv Griffin, in his early talk show in the 1960s, I believe, made the same mistake with Dionne, as Diane instead, but corrected himself on-air.
By the way, her real surname is Warrick, but an early recording contract misspelled it as Warwick and she liked, it, kept it, and the rest is, as they say, history.
Her real first name is Marie, but she chose her real middle name Dionne to be her first name as part of her show name.
Whatever name she uses, her talent stood second to none and still does.
@@jasonburger3533 Thank you for clarifying this.
@@AdrianDeVore You are welcome. I was not alive during the run of that show, but I have read about it and his many flubs of words and names. That added to the humor. Those that went on the show knew he flubbed many.
By the way, you might want to check out Dionne Warwick singing the "Battle Hymn Of The Republic" on Ed Sullivan. The clip is on CZcams and he got her name right on that occasion.
Wonder if little WHITNEY was watching this performance and singing along to her famous cousin...
She would have been five years old. Unlikely but who knows? When I was five I was much more interested in cartoons.
Whitney had the same mannerisms and stage presence.
Look up "THATS WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR " WITH dionne, luther, Whitney & stevie wonder playing harmonica . I think the Dionne used to take Whitney because Whitney was charging to get interested in being a great singer... If you go to hulu. There's a show called Superstar and you can see the whitney one ! Also there's john ritter & richard prior biography movie.
More Della Reese! She performed many times on the show!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
She sang great songs! Sings before we’re not a bunch of angry and protesting songs. We should go back to those days - maybe the world will love each other.
Great singer and beautiful music and lyrics!
Definitely would not want to go back to those days. Anybody wanting to go back to those days has stopped living.
This was thee era of protest songs what are you talking about? Maybe just in your world and musical tastes you didn’t realize?
A great sounding brown beauty.
Don't start.
2024, I took notice to how he pronounced my sister’s name!
