I think they are an undervalued excellent quality guitar . Something different then the Fender - Gibson thing though Leo was involved with Music Man in the early days then formed G&L which is another undervalued guitar line .

One year later is the penultimate test for any guitar.
You have your honeymoon period....it's out of the way... Now, it's it's been long enough that you no longer feel the financial consequences of the extravagant outlay - more or less!
But the point is, now you have a chance to view the instrument with all that highly emotional stuff attached to it. Is it really any good? Or did you just like the hot pink sparkle finish..?!

I agree. The ergonomics are really good. It's just a great guitar to play. I've always loved the vibe of the Music Man necks, but I've never been able to afford one, and the newer roasted necks feel closer to the full-budget necks than previous Sterling necks have. The pickups are very nice for OEM budget humbuckers, but not in the same class as the ones here. Probably the trem as well, although my stays in tune very well, even when you're giving it a workout.

I tried a Sterling version and was very impressed with the quality. Only downside I found was limited upper fret access. I play an EBMM Stingray RS, which works great for me.

That’s what I’m thinking, I just saw one in my local shopped and picked it up and it was pretty awesome but the last 2 frets are so hard to play comfortably. I still want to get it really bad though

Recently "discovered" the Mariposa and stumbled upon this channel. Superb playing and review! Would love to see the Mariposa available with S-S-S configuration. Just too much H-H on the market right now & in this player's collection. Without a coil split or emulator, hard to justify more humbucker, esp. for work requiring lower output, more dynamism and chime, etc .

I have the Music Man Axis. It is buttery goodness. Neck is like old friend, can have great chat all day. I prefer 24 3/4 scale but extra length is almost not noticeable since smoothness / feel of neck. I just got a Freidman JJ Junior 20 watt combo, this marriage is incredible. Yes folks, save pennies for Music Man. It’s worth eating Ramen noodles for month.

Picked up a Sterling Mariposa on sale for only $450 recently, amazing guitar for the money. Tried it out on a whim and fell in love with the look, feel and sound, compliments my other two guitars (an Aerodyne Tele and an ESP Snapper) perfectly. Would love to get my hands on the big bad EBMM version just to give it a spin but I doubt I'd ever be able to afford one lol

Great review, I only play offset guitars (My main is a 1998 Squire Supersonic) and I agree with the jazzmaster being cumbersome, now that I've gotten used to playing a Supersonic I don't like Jm's. Good review, can't wait to get my hand's on one of these (even though I'm just going to use it to ignorantly chug away)

I just tried the Sterling version earlier tonight at a guitar center. I had no expectation of it I just picked it up because I had never seen one in a store before. I know of the Albert Lee guitar and this had either exact or very similar body style. In person to me at least it looks better then you think . For the price the Sterling version seems well worth unless if have the skill and money to purchase the American version.
