@LightWatcher No, he's straight up a villain. One of the most evil and sociopathic villains I've ever seen. Just because he acts like a hero to feed his ego doesn't mean he's actually a hero.
@LightWatcher he is a villain. Just because he has the appearance of a superhero doesn't mean he is one. He hasn't done a truly heroic act in the series yet. He is a villain masquerading as a hero. He does follow the conventional villainy standards. He kills without much reason, he's selfish, he's sympathetic, he has zero tolerance for anyone who gets in his way and is just straight up evil. Homelander hardly does anything good with bad intentions he just has a marketing team pretending he's a good guy. I can't name a single good act he has done to completion without faltering. He tried to save a plane from crashing but was too lazy to do it and kept making up excuses and just let it crash. That is not a full heroic act it's just an attempt at one. Now for an example: Megamind is a hero not only of his story but by the standards of what a hero means. But just because did some bad deeds while he dressed like a villain and was one at the beginning of the story does not make him an anti hero.
@LightWatcher he is the villain of the story. He is portrayed as a villain because of the evil things he does. he does more straight up evil things than he does do heroic things with evil intention. That makes him a villain. If you weighed out all the full on evil things Vs the heroic acts with evil intentions the full on evil things will be more. He also only killed a handful of supervillains and one of them made him look like a villain.

I think one of the coolest things about the character design is seeing how they slowly start to transform his face from light and kinda round with soft blonde hair on top to more slicked back with a thinner more muscular face, theres something weirdly mannequin like about it that adds to his creepiness as he goes more and more insane from season 1-3

Imagine every movie trope going wrong in your face while people less powerful tell you what you shoulda done and then hates you when their idea goes wrong. The cartoon of his first mission makes the plane scene make a lot more sense
He fucking hates everyone and deserves too. Vought could have given anything to remain stable - pets, friends, decent ppl without powers to give him empathy, playtime with others in a safe environment, etc. But, no they just wanted to pick on another quiet kid.
This show and Homelander deserve to exist. So. Fucking. Hard.

People don't understand how crazy the current world can make a person, even a person with his power can go crazy coza how far and gone the world currently is, he's just in touch with reality, hence he is this way
Also, he went through torture (Solider Boy style when Vought were testing weapons on him to find a weakness), solitary confinement, brainwashing with “great American values” (politics) as a CHILD.
They are lucky he turned out “alright”. He could have very much been another Brightburn.

At least killing Noir meant something to him. Homelander loved Noir in his own way. So he feels that his world is a worst place without Noir too.
