- Growing popcorn can be so easy and fun! It’s honestly one of our favorite things to grow! This year we are growing Japanese Hulless Popcorn, it’s an heirloom variety, meaning we will be able to save our seeds year after year!

My husband has been growing Japanese white hulless😮 many years. It is very good and is indeed delicious for a winter’s night snack. He eats it by the mixing bowl full.
If you have an inexpensive Corona style grain mill such as a Victoria or sold under other names, you can grind popcorn into a fine corn flour for baking with or a breading on fried chicken or fish.
sure looks A-Maze-ing and YUM~! good job~!
I homeschooled our children. We did a unit study on popcorn one year. The popcorn industry calls kernels that don't pop old maids,no moisture inside the kernel to get it to turn inside out!
Would love to buy some if it comes available! I am in CT and would like to try growing a bit of it.
You guys had an awesome harvest ! We grew some Glass Gem corn this year and the ears never got very big even with some high fertility . I think next year I will start crossing the Glass Gem working on getting bigger ears because the colors are beautiful . Thanks for sharing and have a great day !
I would be interested in buying some of your popcorn and any other products that you have to sell. I'm in SE Texas and I'm all about supporting small businesses. May God continue to bless you and your family abundantly ❤ 🙏 ✝️
I have started watching your channel this summer, have enjoyed it and learned a lot. I am a retired nurse and live in the suburbs of Cincinnati. I put out a garden for the first time and taught myself a canner and my husband and I would love to buy popcorn and any other seeds you may have.
Them turkeys know where to be.
I planted glass gem corn, it is for popcorn and tortillas. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I would love to buy popcorn! So excited for you all, great job family and may God continue to bless you all!
Blessings
That corn looks so good! I'd love to have some for seed. I don't have much space to grow a lot but these kids love some good popcorn.
I would love the opportunity to buy some popcorn from you! I hope it all works out. :)
I'm anxious to see how it turns out after it gets dried. Loved watching your little girl show her perfect little ear of corn she picked! 😊 Yall are doing a great job raising your kids to help in the chores. Not only shows them where their food comes from, but that good food isn't as easy as walking into a grocery store to get it! Blessings from Kentucky.
Popcorn looks good! Make sure you turn those ears on the table. I've had them stay pretty damp and get some mold laying out flat like that if not regularly turned. Drying racks are a good plan. We've kept some husks on ears (I think some call it 'slip shucking' when picking with minimal husks in the field) to pull back and tie two and three ears together to drape over a simple set of clothes lines to dry. Easy to hang a few lines and a lot of ears fit. Try it the next batch of corn you get, because it looks like you did well with all the corn this year. And poke that hay away wherever you have room - spring grass is a ways off and you can always sell in the spring when you have a closer idea what is coming.
That is smart advice ❤
Hi there beautiful family
Looks like a good crop …can’t wait for a video of when y’all try it❤
I would love to try the popcorn I’m in Iowa and I would love to try it.
Corn looks great guys. Yes, if y’all have any extra pop corn seeds we would definitely be interested in buying some from y’all. Glad y’all got plenty of hay for the winter. I like seeing how you all work together to get everything done, many hands make light work. 👍🏻👍🏻 Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
nice finding your channel...I dry hickory nuts and I have found that stretching and hanging netting works very well. When I first started to do nuts I made frames with metal hardware cloth and hung those. now i use both due to drying herbs and other things but hanging works best for me due to not a lot of room. good luck with your popcorn something i have never done but now might try next year here in Iowa
Plz keep me in mind for some popcorn and dent corn you all !
Nothing like good ol popcorn
I would be interested in buying some popcorn!
I certainly didn't know you have to let it dry out first before cooking it.. l would have done exactly what you guys did the first time..lol
Me too! Thanks for the heads up!

My grandfather grew pop corn.
I would love some seed, let us know how it pops.
So interesting. I can not find any hulless Popcorn, in my area. NW IN. Amish popcorn not hulless either.
Is there a video about the popcorn showing how it turned out and your popping some.?
I don’t think not yet. You are watching in real time. I think it has to dry first and then they have to take it off the cob.❤
Not yet there will be before long, stay tuned!
Would love to buy some if you can send it to Australia.. if you could work out postage costs
we can but shipping gets expensive we'll have to see what we can do, if we have some foe sale we'll post a video
@@TrueGritAppalachianWays thank you
Interested in buying some if available plz
What’s your suggestion for keeping deer out of sweet potatoes?
in one of our garden videos we show using wooden stakes with billys bone sauce on them. its worked great so far. we get our bone sauce from permapastures farm they are on youtube
What do you do with your corn stalks. I see people all around me letting them just dry in field. I have been thinking about stopping by and asking if I could have a load or two . I want two run it through a leaf shredder and add to my compost piles I need more compost. do you think this will work.
i think that would be a great idea, and they should break down fast too, we usually just till ours back into the soil
That works as well. I'm really enjoying your videos. They show real life. Thanks
I would buy a pound
About how many ears do you get per stalk with this variety? I am interested in trying to grow it myself next year
average of 2-3
Hey, W livel in Walnut Cove and would be interested in 50-60 bales of hay if you want to sell. i will email you as well. I have enjoyed your channel!
