He hasn’t finished the car yet he hasn’t put the Prius repellent sticker over the exhaust

PHIL FOR CAR OF THE DECADE!!!
Love Phil, Love the channel. I wonder about the weight balance.
I would have choose carbon for the engine bonnet (hood) and light battery.
With a big engine on front and carbon at the rear, it has to be nose heavy.
PS: Please put the lights down drag racing it ;)
@Alpha Bravo Great answer, thanks! And yes, hard to believe the V6 is not heavier. Maybe a suspension adjustment can get around it? I wish Phil was a hard top for chassis stiffness (but I can be wrong again).

Great series and great result. This has encapsuled the spirit of being a car guy perfectly for me and you can see that not only a huge amount of love went into Phil, but a lot of effort went into the video as well. You even got the designer to talk to in Phil. It is rare that I would love to own a car somebody else built without changing a thing - but that is definitely the case here. Great job!

Now that's F-ing something. Getting the main man who designed the car in the late 80's to ride in your well modified well loved version of his creation, and he genuinely seemed to enjoy your version of his baby. Well done dude. And on a side note, just earlier today I went to look at an 04' RX8 same color as Phil which has a ruined engine, I'm thinking v8 swap but not an LS... hopefully I can get the seller down a bit on the price and get into to, this is motivating. :)

I bought one of these the same time as you by coincidence. I had so much fun in it and enjoyed watching the series while i enjoyed driving mine. What a wonderfully put together film, and equally put together car. What a journey you two have been on, and congrats for sticking with it. As much as I love MX-5s (I currently have two), I don't think I could ever spend £25,000 on one, but that's not an insult as what you've done is clearly a labour of love. I recently spent over £2,000 on of mine to bring it back to life and even that felt like a small fortune! I hope Phil still makes appearances on the channel and I'd love to see him in real life.
Good job! I think a retrospective like this should be standard for project cars that have had a series made about them. Also, this is an excellent film and everybody involved in making it should be proud!

I had a MX5 NA a few years ago. I sold it because I finish my degree in Australia and need to back to my home country. I saw this Phil and he remind me how good MX5 are. So I bought a MX5 ND few months ago. Start modifying him from coliover, strutbar, tyres and a handmade titanium shift knob. I ordered a set of wheel from Japan, and I need to wait for another 3 months for the rims to arrived. Phil reminded me the passion about modify a car and just go for ride and have fun.
21:50 really got to me, because i can relate. i was in a bad place mentally for a while, didnt care about much of anything, only felt depressed, etc. etc. then i discovered the miata, and ended up buying my own. since then its truly given me something to care about. i have so many plans for this car, and it really pulled me out of a dark place. i will eternally be grateful for this car currently sitting in my driveway. every time i see it, it fills me with an emotion i didnt know i could feel. even now, while it doesnt run and needs an engine rebuild, i still care deeply about it. i know it would make more logical sense to dump it and buy another one, but this car did so much for me and will always hold sentimental value.

Ahh memories, I had 1 of these, years ago now. Snikerty-snack ultra short ratio gear change, the sharky little nose stretching out in front of you, and some nice burbly feedback from the standard exhaust. I only had 1.6l power, but revvy enough with the sweet chassis to fish tail the back end on roundabouts, with ease. Much to the hilarity of friends, and very nearly ending up in a ditch a few times...saved not because of driving skill, but because the MX5 is a mini hero, a car that makes you feel like you're driving an arcade game, from the 1990s. Everything just seemed so beautifully ergonomic and well engineered,, which is what I like about Japanese machinery.
Omfg. Phil. Hes back

Did have a lump in my throat to the end of this video. Can't remember the last time I watched Car Throttle. This was the first time watching for about year or so. I wish I never stopped watching. AMAZING!
This was a really good ending to the series. Felt like we were reliving the series as well. Also, this is what keeps me from selling my boat NC Miata. Miatas seem to always be a lifestyle and a community. My NC has been all across the US with me when I was in the Navy and on so many track and mountain roads along the way. When I got out, my dad and I went halves on a '90 NA that we're going to race in Spec Miata this coming season. So it really is a community
