Richard Hammond is a fucken gem!!!! He juggles between family, grand tour, his workshop and his show about his workshop, yet he still has time to do a show for his fans on CZcams. What a remarkable person ♥️

You could just see that Richard was seeing something he has almost lost in interviewing Tim, that boyish exuberance and wide eyed passion that made us all love “the hamster” in his top gear heyday. There was an almost fatherly pride in his eyes too, seeing someone so well equipped to be carrying on the legacy of this new world in automotive “journalism. Great interview

Loved this. I am a huge fan of both, and getting this insight into Tim was very, very cool. That you Drive Tribe, I have a much better understanding of who "Shmee" really is and this felt like I was sitting in the room with both of you. Awesome stuff.

to answer Richard’s question about why it works watching Tim live the super car dream, it works because Tim is a genuinely amazing and humble human being. he shares his passion. he doesn’t brag. he doesn’t hide. he’s open. that’s why everybody roots for him. i hope he earns a million more amazing cars, and i hope he continues to share those with us 😄

And let's be honest the STO is not even that expensive. I have seen Tim's Senna a couple of times, now that car is expensive 😅
IRL Tim is just like he is on camera. He is relaxed and energetic, down to earth and very approachable.

I loved the moment when he said that sitting or being driven as a kid in an interesting car could shape your passion. I was lucky enough (given the circumstances of my country in the late 80s and 90s) to be driven in two amazing cars and that indeed sealed my passion for cars. They were a Citroen CX and a Jaaag XJ40. Have never owned a Citroen or a Jaguar but one never knows 😁❤️
You pointing this out just made me realize I’ve passed the passion on from my father to my son.
I enjoyed this video a lot. It would be awesome if Hammond and the team could also visit Tim's Shmuseum and make also make some video contents as well! Great work and keep it up!
Really really enjoyed this - especially the end of Richard and Tim’s chat. Such perfect sentiment. We all need that child like enthusiasm about something - and as Richard said to Tim, never talk to anyone who’s got to spoil it!

I drove one of these in 2003 - Tonnes of fun, low burble from the V6, will turn on a sixpence and give you a permanent smile!
Tim - in my opinion - is the best supercar youtuber by far! His down to earth attitude with his childlike view on amazing cars makes him just so relatable and so much fun to watch. Although he has the cars, he never shows off with his lifestyle - like Manny Kkoshbin or Supercar Blondie. Really likable lad.
I agree, though considering what Manny has built up from rock bottom. He does show and let people experience what it's like at the top tier of cars ownership :)

You both touched on something that strikes me as significant, and maybe worth exploring. That moment in time when petrolheadedness ( ! ) struck. I was a small boy, holding my fathers hand as we walked along some London street. An A.C. Bristol was parked. With hindsight, not the prettiest car, but I was awestruck. A few years ago, I was waiting for someone in a car park, when a small boy walked passed, stopped, stared at the badge, and clearly enunciated the syllables Al Fa Ro Meo. That was his moment. Like losing your virginity, a very special moment.
Can I just say how amazing it is to see the comparison between two people I’ve grown up watching In The motoring journalist world. Seeing these two talk about their worlds and their formats is amazing. To think Tim grew up watching Richard and we all grew up watching both of them is amazing. Top quality video

Always loved the V6 Clio. The seats are the same as the 172 phase one that I had. Still very comfortable to sit in though. Some bucket seats would take the interior to the next level but to keep the interior as original as possible those are the correct seats. Overall a stunning car. I know of another one that’s like it just left the factory that belongs to a friend of mine
these videos are actually incredible… It’s like a little podcast about cars. Then it’s mixed in with an actual car video. the format is awsome!
I'd love to drive one of those. The "American" version of this was something called the Shogun. Where someone took the V6 from a Ford Taurus SHO and put it in the back of a Ford Fiesta (or Festiva?). Great revving V6 in the back of a tiny little hatchback. Great content guys keep it coming!
Very nice moment at the end, showing the kids the cars when they’re looking actually does inspire them for a lifetime, they’ll bring that up to their parents, their friends and family in years to come.
Tim is just brilliant, he comes across and as honest, transparent and hard working person. Love hearing the real Tim talking.

@@JamesOversteer Have you ever tried to make a youtube channel and keep at it for some many years? Sorry but it is a ton of work. You have to film everyday, edit all that footage or oversee that editing of footage, find new cars, new topics, new people etc etc.

The undertray zipties are there because the bit the bolts go into is just some bent steel tube with a thread in, they are VERY common to seize/snap off - I would say most cars now would be ziptied. I stripped the bracket off mine and fitted some rivnuts with a shitload of grease to stop them seizing but getting that bracket off took absolutely ages!
I became aware of Tim / Shmee when he got the McLaren 12C. Subsequent videos got me very interested in the McLaren brand, to the point where I worked at the company for four years. Most of my product knowledge came from his videos.

When this came out I worked at a motor racing track, was doing a few laps in a WRX Subaru - very quick, felt like it was on rails, incredible power. Came in, transferred over into one of these, did a few laps and had the most engaging driving experience I’d ever had up to that point, the level of concentration and delicate control required to get it quickly round a track without spinning it was just fabulous. In that job I got to drive all sorts of cars and bikes, the car that left the greatest impression on me was this V6 Clio, just awesome!
I just had breakfast and the *reality* of this interview has me laughing so hard, that it makes for great digestion!! 😁 Thank you, Richard and Tim.

This has always been my favourite Renault, its crazy how they just decided to throw a V6 in the back and sell it to people, and the widebody is so cool.
It was more of a homologation thing, but the rally rules changed and Renault also changed with what they went with. I owned one for a while, hilarious to drive, but was constantly trying to kilm you.
@@handlesarefeckinstupid i didnt know they were planning to rally this one like the renault 5 turbo, but that makes sense, although if its already hard to drive on asphalt i can only imagine how difficult it would be on gravel...
@@euphoric5172 yes, they used the megane if I remember correctly. I think they had initial plans for a 4wd version but Renault went into the 1.6 and 2l classes instead.
If you think the v6 Clio is cool from renault look up the renault twinrun based on a phase 3 twingo

Hehe. To me, he comes across as a cocky know-it-all with a very punchable face. I'm sure he's actually a really nice guy but something in him just irritates me to no end. I can't explain it.

There are hundreds of people who do car reviews, but what people buy into is the person who's doing their reviews. The unique selling point of Tim has been is absolute depth of knowledge on a particular car & how he executes so much info. with beautiful articulate presentation .....

I bought a clio v6 for 12.000€ in 2009. I sold it for 12.500€ the same year. A few days ago I looked up the prices.. There was one available for 99.000€😕
I Love this, Richard!! My passion has been video for over twenty years. My Buckingham Video Productions began with vintage road racing events. I still do some hillclimb events. As time moved on I got into music videos which I still do and moved into live theatre 🎥. I've shot many stage plays and stage play musicals for StageStruck Productions and SRO Theater Company. I love doing all the editing and production.Tim's passion goes to my heart. I did build a 1967 Triumph TR4A for vintage road racing 🏁. I enjoy all that you Richard and all that you've done!!

I love to watch Tim`s videoes, caused I probobly never gonna drive one singlecar like that. But that`s the beauty of his productions, he gives so detailed experiences of tec and handeling etc.. that I find his consept very interesting and informative! Over years addictive 😅

The thing that impressed me most about Shmee is not his car knowledge or over-enthusiastic reviews (which I actually find mildly annoying) but his videos which explain how he runs his channel. He has REALLY mastered the whole business of producing videos and maximising both the viewership - and also the whole business-side - from revenues to expenses. He's so much more than a car enthusiast, and if you're thinking of launching your own channel, watch his videos on what is involved. Guaranteed you'll learn a bunch of stuff, and also set your mind working as to whether you really CAN produce a successful and profitable channel.
Richard did a great job with the interview, Tim is a stand-up gentleman as always. What a beautiful car to boot! The clio v6 is the coolest hot hatch from factory. A v6 in the back of a hatch it was just madness back in the day. Agree completely with the half scores if its not perfect its just not perfect but the coolness 100% 10 out of 10. Cheers well done!

Couple more years and you can import one to US legally.
@Leonidae Yeah, but there is no support for parts, no mechanics that specialize in keeping them on the road, much less tweaking and modifying the suspension, brakes, transmission, engine, and etc.
@@chesspiece81 Actually, that V6 is a Nissan motor, VG30DE to be precise. So parts are available for that at least since it is fairly common motor.

My first car was also a 1.2ltr MkII Clio, then moved into the 2.0ltr RS MkIII Clio 197 for 100,000 miles/12 years until I could afford the holy grail of Renault Sport, an Alpine A110. Would love to drive the legendary Clio V6!
Is still one of my dream cars but I will want a restomode just to be perfect, like Tim said i want to enjoy it!

What both Richard and Tim manage to do successfully is allowing the viewers to immerse themselves into the experience because of the way they relate to the audience. It’s how they come across, the joy and humour as well as the frustrations and sometimes difficulties experienced. We don’t feel jealous but rather share in your joy.
