    Thank you so much Dr. Tony for your wonderful work and being 🤗🙏
    My highlight of this video: I never had thought to be on the spectrum in big parts because of my ability to sense other people or situations and the need to help. Working in medical care it has oftenly been so helpful for my patients but of course so exhausting for me without me understanding what’s happening here and why other colleagues had such an easier life. Now in my mid fifties, after reading a book of you (to help my partner 😄) and watching a YT of Sarah Hendrickx my whole life came into a different perspective. And I‘m learning so much everyday!
    And more and more I can see that I am gifted and not cursed.
    Thanks again and I hope to be able to become a First class Aspie for others soon.
    ❤️❤️❤️

    This is absolutely fabulous. I may have to watch it 3 times to get it all. It makes so much sense to me. I am in my eighties, I needed this 65 years ago. I self diagnoses with Asperger’s at 68 after finding it by accident while working as an RN. Totally fit me and changed my life. Thank you so much Dr Tony. You are a saint in my book.

    I'm so grateful for the both of you! Craig and Tony feel like my best cheerleaders and advocates! You guys have such great chemistry and these videos are so fantastically put together. This is my fav place on the interwebs and where I come when I need a safe space.
    What an amazing milestone you hit last year Dr. T!! 50 YEARS! And that'd make it 52 years this coming July. My gosh that's amazing!!
    Thank you both of you for being such a beacon of hope and guidance.

    I'm not always happy with the wording of Dr Tony. These words don't match what I'm living or sometimes a bit old fashioned. I have to say it's Tony is one of the person I hear that explains autism in the best way. He really understand how autistics work, think and do things of everyday life. It's nice to have these videos.

    Yes, I know what others are feeling, but the social game is to respond not to how someone is feeling, but to how they are wanting to be seen as feeling. The number of calculations that I have to do consciously in order to respond to people who are being fake takes all my mental powers, and I have nothing left for other tasks. As a woman, I'm expected to put this social game first, and if I don't, I get attacked, vilified, and shunned. I can be comfortable with people in very difficult circumstances because they tend to drop the facade.

    The self-criticism is not always worse than that of the boss! My bosses accused me of fraud, levelled accusations of bullying staff and never ever gave me any positive feedback at all. None of it was true!

    • @autismhangout
      @autismhangout  Před 3 lety +1

      Elaine. Document and expose the bullying behavior to others. Get a restraining order if you need it. But bullies are often cowards. If they don't respect your boundaries, shine a light on them and their behavior. Don't let them push you around.

    You describe me so well! I’m being referred to a therapist as part of my medical treatment. How can I educate that as-yet-unknown person so they can better understand me, so that our conversations are fruitful rather than pointless, with me having to teach them about my Asperger’s? I have seen so many therapists over the course of my life (I’m 67), and after listening to you in many CZcams discussions I realize that there really IS someone who knows …

    pls do something on how autism affects us medically especially on the endocrine system. i have had to do my own research and believe i have cushings (Pituitary tumour secreting adrenocorticotropic hormone which increases cortisol) how would this look different in my lab testing? i have severe autism and no support and the doctors gaslight over this condition.

    There is a problem with what Dr Tony says about forgiveness. Forgiveness means you have to treat them the same as everyone else. You forgive and forgive and they keep on being mean. You don't treat them badly, but in return, they continue to torment you and no one will stop them. So then you forgive them some more. Neurotypicals see forgiveness and kindness as weakness. I have not found a solution to this problem.

    • @craigevans4010
      @craigevans4010 Před 3 lety

      As a neurotypical, I too struggle with forgiving those that have AND CONTINUE to hurt me. I’ve determined there are those that unintentionally injure others… they can’t help it. In several cases, I’ve had to remove them physically and mentally from my circles. Toxic people are very bad for me. I can forgive them for their transgressions, but I don’t have to tolerate their ignorance and bs. Like Tony says, “self love.” Also, forgiveness and kindness are not weaknesses anymore than self love. It’s all a part of self care. Boundaries matter. You matter! :)

    These are really great videos, very helpful. Thanks for making them. One thing though, as an Autistic person, I find it very hard to listen to due to the sound quality. Any chance this could be looked into and hopefully remedied?

      I'm sorry this happened on this video, Deb. This "phasing" sound issue was not present on my headset when I did a sound check prior to recording. I only discovered it on the final recording... and am unable to fix it. I apologize for the difficulty it causes you (and many others, including me). Fortunately, the August recording did not have this sound issue. Please know that I do my best when recording, hoping the sound is perfect every time. Thank you for your note. Craig

    Can you please fix the sound on this video and re-upload it? None of your other videos have the faulty sound that this one does, and it's very difficult to listen to. I have ASD, and a great deal of this video is pertinent to me, and it's hugely frustrating that the sound compression / noise reduction fault grabs my attention and obscures Dr. Tony's wisdom! Please, please fix and re-upload. Thank you in advance.
