  • All you need for this rug are strips of fabric and a mesh. There is no tying, no sewing, no gluing and no hooking. Just pull pieces of jeans or other material through the mesh and voila! you have a cool, soft shag rug.

It's sort of a prodded rug. Very pretty, original and practical!

Thanks for sharing, it looks great! I want to make a rug just like this! I was wondering if the edges of the denim lost threads and also, can you vacuum over it without damaging? Thank you!

Are you putting one or all three pieces of fabric through each hole? About how long did you leave the loop on the back side?

Just curious, I hope you are answering still, how do you keep the rug from sliding around? Maybe I heard wrong or misunderstood, but the mesh you used is wire? So would you have to use one of those anti slip mats underneath?

The mesh is some kind of plastic. And you do have to put rug grip under it.

This is how I'm making mine. Mine will be bigger with a fee pompoms in blue too.

I have always wanted to try this. I did not understand how the fabric stays snug if you are not looping it it or fastening it in there somehow. Does it hold up in the wash?

To wash it, take it to a car wash and spray it clean.

The pieces of fabric are packed in tight enough to be secure. If it seems like your pieces are too loose for your liking, as she did for one or more of her other fabrics, make the strips a bit wider. It really does work.

Would you be willing to make me one of these? To buy, of course.

Not clear on how you attach. Just a loop and pass through?
