Picture today's NBA, a melting pot of talent from around the world, and then rewind to a time when the court was far less diverse. In the 1940s, long before the NBA we know, one player broke racial barriers but faced a torrent of prejudice that eventually pushed him out of the game. As we delve into this untold story, prepare for a sobering look at the challenges that plagued the first Asian player in NBA history. Welcome to a narrative that's not just about basketball, but a poignant tale of resilience and loss.

NBA Insider, I find this story compelling given it was during an era where Japanese Americans faced forced internment camps and discrimination during the war. Australia where I live and am a citizen of had internment camps too for Japanese Australians during the war. No doubt the Japanese Imperial army committed alot of atrocities during the war so it's understandable that the Japanese living abroad at the time faced such harsh treatment. As a basketball lover all my life, I see alot of myself in Wataru so that is probably why I really enjoyed your video. I plan to do some research to feature all the Asian American athletes who contribute to American sports. My name is Harry Du Young and you can see a few of my postings on this subject matter. Its only the ground level.

Not for his basketball skills but because he is an awe inspiring human being. He is also a better bowler and golfer than I am at 94.

Yes, I wish someone would cover Ralph Sampson, and how his career was mismanaged by his coaches in the NBA. At 7'4", he was a true athletic positionless player who would have fared better in todays game. Yet Coaches misunderstood his game, and forced him to play back to the basket Center/PF. He could also shoot long range, run the floor, and handle the ball as well as any guard in his era. Don Nelson forced him to play hurt up in Golden State, which derailed his career. He was Dirk, and Brandon Ingram before there was faceup big Guys. Thanks for asking.

NBA Insider I really like all the videos on your channel, all of them are great, it’s easy to see you guys put a lot of hard work into editing and making sure these videos are super entertaining. Also if I had to say a video was my favorite would probably be this video because I never knew who the first non-white basketball player to play professionally was. Super interesting and very entertaining to watch. But there are a lot of other videos that are also very entertaining like your conspiracy videos, and videos you make on NBA players that show a lot of interesting facts about them than just their NBA careers, which NBA fans don’t know about. Just an amazing channel and I get really excited when you guys post a video.

NBA Insider I love learning new things and your channel is just great from the narration to the content, I love it!! Lol. I also like that you are very interactive with your comment section, the first time you responded to one of my comments I was taken aback, but definitely appreciated the response, shows that you care 😉. Keep up all the good work!! I know it takes a team to make a channel this great and for me you guys win the championship!! Lol

I'm not a film student, but I really liked your visual display. Good filters, rotation of certain scenes. Good, brief synopsis of the history of the time. Good clips to document your statements. Good pace. The video stayed active, much like how all those annoying youtubers just cut themselves talking constantly, but yours is with visuals and the narrative stays steady. So the visual keeps you engaged while you can listen at a good pace. I don't know how to describe it man. That's the best I could do.
