    Great explanation and I am between these two bikes . You responded before to this question i asked you in your review of the New TCR. Retailing at $3,200 vs Defy at $3,900, the TCR looks good but your explanation of comfort really makes sense. I am 50 trying to go faster but realize the back and shoulders can handle only so much.

    Just picked up a Defy Adv 1 today (not the pro). Went for it as I figured it'd be a little more comfortable for longish rides especially as I'm not the youngest. Looking forward to some decent rides. Will see how that brutal looking saddle matches my posterior

    I’m so excited ordered my tcr advanced 1 disc in concrete grey, 8th June pre order. Can’t wait. I’m riding tri bike so wanted roadie to be more aggressive so closer to tri bike

    I like your thoughts, I'm a Giant fan as well and the weird thing I noticed is the smaller the size you ride on the defy the closer the geometry is to the TCR or atleast maybe another brands race bike.

    I bought last year the 2019 Defy Advanced 1. Not the Pro one.
    It's an amazing bike. The defuse technology really works and the bike is very good in the cobbles. The 2019 came with 28c tubeless tires and the 2020 as 32c.
    Previously I had a 2013 Trek Madone 5.9. I'm just a normal guy that likes to pedal. The Defy is right bike for me.

    Why can't you ride the defy but change the cassette to an 11/30 or 11/32 to ride faster?? Would this be combining the best of both defy and tcr in terms of speed??

    Hi. I own a Felt Z5 endurance bike which I use mainly for commuting to work with a pretty heavy bag on my back.
    I am considering to buy a new bike. I thought about a TCR.
    Do you think it will be much less comfortable for commuting with a bag?
    Thanks,
    Itay

    started on a DEFY then switched on TCR PRO 1 within a year and will never go back. TCR is so stiff compared to the defy if you like climbing out of the saddle.

    • @raghavgoyal14
      @raghavgoyal14 Před 3 lety

      So, you think TCR is better for climbing (say 10 deg gradients) given that it has slightly aggressive gear ratio?

    • @onehourmusicbc
      @onehourmusicbc Před 2 lety

      @@raghavgoyal14 TCR is for climbing / racing and Defy is for endurance. So TCR will be the way to go if you could handle that geometry.

  • @zkranc

    I think you mentioned all the reasons why I'm going for a Defy. I only started cycling last spring, never owned a bike before that. I've ridden a hybrid bike for 4500km and I now feel fit enough for a road bike.
    I also live in a pretty hilly area with a lot of damaged roads, so the extra comfort and lower gears made the Defy the logical choice for me.
    Question, I am supposedly between frame sizes on the Defy. Would you recommend a smaller or larger size?
    Another great video, thanks!

    • @zkranc
      @zkranc Před 4 lety

      @@Pedaler I'm 178cm tall and my inseam length is 83cm. I'm gonna try out the M and M/L sizes, but like you said it's difficult to gauge the bike by doing a loop on the parking lot. Especially for me never riding a road bike before.
      Obviously I'll talk to the people at the bike shop, was just interested to hear you opinion. Thanks for your reply!

      take off all the stem washer at Front Fork for a more aggressive position, your bike still looks cool than a TCR with 3 cm washers. If you are a beginner, Defy is not bad>

    TCR hasnt changed for almost a decade, its frame is easier to bend, its geometry is worse than the defy, i guess ill take it for the wheels but for specs no just no
