  • Making some knives from an old motorcycle chain. Kind of experimental. For more information about custom blades, go to:

    The knife for your neighbor is cool -- liked the handle -- but the one for yourself is beautiful. It showed what an artist's eye for form and line can bring to a sharp-and-pointy object. Clyde

    Haha "I suppose".. They turned out beautifully. The leather tsukamaki was a great choice for your blade, and very nicely done. Thanks for sharing. :)

    I loved the pattern. I wonder what it would look like if it was twisted?

    • @brotherbanzai
      @brotherbanzai  Před 6 lety

      Thanks. I think twisting it would probably make the pattern unrecognizable as a chain.

    Very nice. I did my first chain saw chain knife a few weeks ago. Suprised it work considering it was my first. Just wish I used 2 or 3 chains didn't get a very big blade. Green beetle recommended your channel. Glad I did. Anyway I can contact you through email. Share work, experience, failures

    Beautiful pieces!! And very well worked. Congrats!
    I have two basic questions for you:
    - With what are you etching? (what acid / proportions)
    - What is and for what the white powder you add during the heating process?
    Thanks!

    • @brotherbanzai
      @brotherbanzai  Před 6 lety

      Thank you. I etch with ferric chloride, which you can buy as PCB etchant. The white powder if borax which is being used as a flux during the forge welding.

    Amazing , keep it up ! :)

  • @theswaggeringwombat3084

    Stunning as always! quick question I am looking for ferric chloride and what I can find on Amazon is still called ferric chloride but it said it is for copper is that okay ?

    • @IPostSwords
      @IPostSwords Před 6 lety

      It's the same thing. Ferric chloride is most commonly used to etch copper PCB's, but the same product will etch pattern welded steel.

    Had you done any knifes using real wrought iron? And etching in ferric

    • @brotherbanzai
      @brotherbanzai  Před 4 lety

      Nope. Don't have easy access to actual wrought iron, would be cool though.

    I just saw your other video when are you going to post how you made the Atlantean sword at the end of your last video I would love to see how you made it

    • @brotherbanzai
      @brotherbanzai  Před 6 lety

      I didn't take any video of that sword being made, so I'm afraid there won't be one.

    What do you use for an etchant?

    How much do you want for 2 motorcycle knives ?

    • @brotherbanzai
      @brotherbanzai  Před 4 lety

      Thanks for the inquiry, but probably not doing any more of these, was kind of a hassle. Probably would be easier to start with new, clean chain.
