- In this video I show you how I forge a knife from damascus made from copper pennies , 10 cent coins and high carbon steel to make a beautiful pattern. This is part 1 video where I forge the billet in a stainless canister and etch the knife to expose the beautiful pattern .

This is so fun man...have a fantastic day
One batch, two Batch. Penny and Dime. It was her favorite Book

looks really cool. i wonder how pennies and dimes would look if you did multiple twists and layers before putting two halves around a core and forging that into a knife.
Bruh! Your channel is awesome!!! You sure we ain’t cousins? I’ve been needing help on my Neapolitan pizza oven!!!! Lol😂
Shredded money in resin
Continue the copper theme with a dark hard wood, blued guard, and copper wire wrap right after the guard for a inch or so. Nice job my friend.
Trabalho incrível! Ficou perfeito! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
United States pennies minted in 1982 and later are over 97% zinc with copper plating.
I would definitely go with a simple copper scale for that knife. I think it would compliment the Damascus you made.
Man that is amazing!!!!
I’d go simple with the handle, maybe black micarta or African Blackwood with brass pins. Or a nice piece of desert ironwood, not too busy though. You don’t want to take away from the blade with a busy handle (just my personal preference tho)
Great idea thanks
An alternating stacked leather and coin handle might look cool
Great idea thanks
I would use a copper honeycomb casted in black epoxy with copper pins!
Great job 👏
I'm not sure if a bronze cross guard and pommel would clash with the copper or not, but might be a cool way to include even more color in the project.
Great idea thanks
It would be interresting to make it multi plies damascus blade. I bet it would be even a cooler design, although as you said to keep the center hard steel
Make the same Damascus for the scales with copper guard and butt cap.
great idea thanks
if you use American pennies, anything pre-82 is 95% copper. after 82, they are 98%zinc....82 is a mixed year when they transferred them and you would have to weigh them
A single LARGE coin for the guard would be great. Stacked handle with copper every 3rd or 4th layer , dark wood thick , lighter color wood thin . Enough to make a visual difference.
Great idea 🙌
Really cool looking blade man! I think a black dyed curly maple with copper pins would look cool and for the guard, if you are adding a guard, do a thin piece of copper sandwiched in between two pieces of steel.
Great idea thanks Dan
Maybe try a way where the spine is the copper?
what kind of change you have that is obsolete?
Handle idea… hickory/cherry/antler
That would be great 👍
I'm concerned about the big inclusions showing after you ground the bevels. That's not a good sign.
Concept vs practicality. Copper is very soft and not a great use as a blade.
I think a hand made out of as many different little slices of wood as possible would be cool. Lots of layers in different colors to match the blade. Maybe cut up a skateboard since they are already like 8 layers typically.
Great idea thanks
This was another great video.
With viewer participation on top, i simply can't resist.
Amboyna burl is my suggestion.
I made some micarta a while back and when I shaped my handle the layers that were revealed had a sort of authentic that was very similar to damascus, so I'd recommend maybe black and white micarta with a copper guard and butt cap. Just a thought though
Nice idea
Thanks
There is a national coin shortage and this guy decides to do this
These pennies are out of circulation
A tiger stripe wood would be unique.
Came from tik tok, I've never seen or thought of copper being used like this.
Thanks for coming over from tiktok
I would use Titanium
micarta with a top layer visible of paper money?
Great idea thanks
You should "checker board" the coins next time. You would get more variation in the color.
With the way the knife is shaped and the color I would use bone for the handle
All detail
Kind: Coper Demascus knife with leather cover
Total length 10"
Blade 6"
Handle (Bone Handle) 4"
Gage 3.87 mm
Width: close to 50 mm
Shorp: One Sided
looks like you had some american pennies in there, which are actually mostly zinc, so i don't know that the magnet method is fool proof
🔥⚒🔪👍✌
How’s many time you left in the forge because I try and doesn’t work
He looks like Cena
I want this knife
Leather and silver stacked or cork and silver
Great idea thanks
Felt or leather from a old school coin purse lol to keep the theme!
For the handle, micarta made from dollar bills.
Love it thanks
Hopefully each coin was double checked to ensure it wasn't worth more than you could imagine if it just happened to be a rare collectable. Otherwise looked good.
Yes i definitely checked all the coins
How can i sent you pic of knife wjich i want.?
When I saw the video I thought, if he used pennies and dimes it would just be mostly copper. I then realized that you're Canadian and your coins are mostly steel, even the loonies.
How about mokume-gane guard matched with golden dragon juma or stabilized cone?
Sounds great , thanks
i like Japanese wood
This is why I can’t find steel dimes!!!
See, change IS good😏… I don’t think the handle should distract you from the glory of the blade! So I’m saying a DARK ebony wood, would nicely complement the blade.
Thanks for the suggestion
Music from Mars
Etch liquid?
Sulphuric acid
Nice knife! I'm curious what acid you used
Sulphuric acid
Lysergic
@@solomoncoster9644 lol 😂
I would personally do a clear apoxy handle with coins from around the world in it or just different coins you find you enjoy looking at. Inside the clear apoxy or resin you use pit some color tint of your favorite or just clear. I would go clear with fine copper shavings as a glitter. Whatever you decide will be amazing as that blad is amazing great job
Great ideas , i was thinking about the copper shavings thanks
@@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio that would for sure pop. If you can make small cubes to lay next to the blade to see what compliments it. Use big shaving small fine shavings. As I almost fear to busy of handle will distract from the blade. To underwhelming of handle will take away from it. Or you can just wing it and let the forging gods take control. I am excited to see what you come up with next
@@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio I do have an idea on tempering a blade I do not have the smarts to do it but I would love to see someone experiment with my way. If you are interested in hearing and maybe running experiments to see what you can do I think of anyone can do it be you or the other CZcamsr I watch. Well have great day stay blessed
When have coins been magnetic? 😳
I think it would be cool to inlay a penny and a dime into the handle.
Checkout the next video that’s exactly what i did thanks
Use quarters,and nickles
Практическое применение какое?
A stack of dollar bills and resin
"Change is obsolete" wow. Frightening statement
Some type of black wood
I think that’s where I’m heading
From instagram 🖐🏻
Thanks for watching much appreciated
Make a micarta with obsolete paper currency..
That’s a great idea thanks
Just realized that the build is complete... Dang, I have to be quicker...lol.
Antler handle
The shortened clip of this has 10.000.000 views on your IG 😶
I saw that can’t believe it , i wish it was 10000000 on CZcams
@@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio that would bring some dime and pennys into your Account 😄
Any us pennies 1982 and below are real copper with a small percent of zinc
But zinc isn’t magnetic... modern pennies are copper coated zinc
Aren’t they? I play around scoring the surface of pennies then heat it up the zinc liquifies while the copper holds its shape, causing the engraved line to invert and become a raised line on the surface of the penny.
There is NO steel in dimes... Where did you get that?
This coin have for me. So am i doing whoat.
The Blob
Sorry if this has been asked before, but isn’t it illegal to destroy US currency?
It's Canadian money and the answer is "no" not illegal in the U.S. Unless you try to pass it as currency after its been altered. Cheers!
What happened to the power hammer
Sold it getting a bigger one
@@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio what size was your hammer, I just bought c41,40s a copy of the angyang st hammers
@@billiejohns6270 its a 88lb hammer
Coins are "obsolete"? Then why is there a coin shortage?
zebra skin handle
Where the toque? 😐 lol
Those pennies and dimes were probably worth more than the knife.
Copper penny's 1982 and older and dimes were never made of steel they are 95% zinc and 5% copper.
All that work...and....blah.
Болтовни много!
Это уже не нож а так, сувенир
Sorry but you're not using copper you're using zinc they stopped making copper pennies back in 1946 after 46 they were only made with zinc and copper plating
I’m sorry you don’t have your facts correct
Copper Penny's 1982 and older
Your voice is either too quiet or that shitty music is too loud. Watching on mute
Sorry about that it’s my terrible editing skills
@@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio I'm sorry, I sounded kinda rude. Good video bro, just loud
Pretty cool! Just be careful what you share on here - the pennies are probably fine but you're technically committing and marketing a criminal offense in Canada by showing people how to repurpose dimes. Could lead to fines or worse under the criminal code and currency act. I couldn't care less, but you never know when an uptight federal employee is watching ;)
Too much talking
Does the copper hold a good edge?
