Great job on this build! One tip, make your ferric at least 3:1 water:ferric and then take 2/3 of that and mix with 1/3 muriatic acid and your copper won’t bleed at all. Perhaps we need to get you into the next challenge?
Hey man! Thanks for commenting. I love your videos.
Do you notice it makes a large difference? I'll happily add some more water, but I don't have any muriatic acid. I could probably try and get hold of some. How long would you then leave it in for?
And I'm always up for a challenge! ;)
@@TyrellKnifeworks that's awesome, thanks for the advice! I'll drop you an email when I finish my shift. :)
I’ve watched many videos with copper and tried them myself….. how in the world do you all keep it off the edge of the blade? I’ve even tried smaller pieces of copper and it always ends up on the cutting edge.
Wow for someone who doesn’t consider himself a bladesmith that is one of the coolest knives I’ve ever seen. Going to try to repeat it
That was dope. I'm going to watch the other videos now that you have the people what they want lol
Thanks Evan! 😂
the takke reference and the sarcasm eared my sub. thank you brother
Cheers John! :)
It's an amazing looking blade. Really love the different layers and combinations of metal. Turned out really well, considering some of the concerns you mentioned.
Cheers dude! I'm thrilled it all worked out.
That have been a long time that I have been searching for a blacksmith youtuber who craft something else than knives.
The algorithm has shown me this video first...
I am glad it did so I have been able to watch the rest of your videos !!
Keep up the good work, I hope you will soon be rewarded according to your talent !
Thanks a lot! I appreciate the sentiment! :)

Well...... I liked the butterfly and the spider videos!
This is a thing of beauty too! Nice one!
Thanks buddy! Glad you're enjoying it all. :)
Very pretty knife.
One of the best looking blades I’ve seen on CZcams
Thank you very much! :)
"Which after checking some youtube videos sounds about right" LOL :D
Literally... This should just be my channels slogan. 😅
your cameras are very good, sound is nice, clear, no noises. The knife is just mental, i love copper and searching on yt about solid copper i found your video 🔥❤️ lit fam! Keep going. Awesome work, just art 💖
Thanks a lot! I just film on my phone. 😅 Glad you liked it!
Well you’ve outdone yourselves there. Bravo 👏🏻 ( yes did watch the other 2)
Thanks a lot Sam! :)
fantastic job, love it. the contrast of the steel vs the copper looks awesome.
Thanks a lot Delmane! :)
Looks amazing great job 👍🏼
fantastic looking blade,brilliant job
Thanks Lee! :)
Beautiful knife 🥰
Thanks Ed! 🔥🤘
To be fair, CZcams didn’t suggest your channel to me until you made this video. So, blame CZcams. Now I’ve found you, and I like butterflies
First rule of CZcams... Give the people what they want. 😅

Love the knife looks great. Also love the last 2 videos. Keep up the great work. Never stop trucking
Cheers dude! 😁
GREAT ARTIST, GREAT TALENT
THANK YOU, GREAT BENJAMIN
Way cool blade!
Thanks! :)
Good job
10/10, would love to open boxes with that blade
Tyrell is effin AWESOME! His copper damascus is so beautiful. I think your chopper came out amazing 😍
Yeah, Denis is the man!
Hopefully you'll like what I have planned for the fantasy weapon competition! :)
Amazing shape and turnout of the Cu Mai
Well done, lad. That piece came out amazing….
Cheers Mike! :)
Wow! Beautiful blade! You have great talent my friend!
Thanks a lot Doug! :)
This is a really cool knife you made. I didn’t really know you could pattern weld copper and steel in the same billet. I’d like to get into this, and try my hand at making a knife like this. You did a great job, and you should be proud of your work.
Thanks a lot Wyatt! That's really cool of you to say. Good luck with attempting this for yourself in the future! :)
I love the knife and yes I will watch the spider video and the butterfly.
Thank you for the tips.
Thanks Christopher! :)
You know what would be hot? If doable. Meteorite damascus with copper and pure nickel
Pretty pretty! I especially like the island (or eye) of steel in the copper on the blade.
I've never seen anyone forge braze before - pretty cool technique.!
Thank you! That's my favourite part too. :)
you popped up in my explore, great build and loved your vibes in the video! subscribed!
Thanks a lot! Much obliged. :)
Great video and great knife
Thank you! :)
Thank you for the reply so many videos I try to reach out to the person and get ignored that makes all the difference
@@themorningstar347 perks of being a smaller CZcams channel! 😂
Yes I suppose so lol
Bravo abs. respectful from old BG.
You got a new sub
Thanks James! :)
I liked very much that you dint minimize the amount of work it took you! amazing knife!!
Thanks a lot! :)
I’ll go back and watch your other videos
Thanks! 😅
Definitely subscribed
Thank you! :)
@@PJTForging you earned it! The Damascus/copper/tool steel was cool enough on its own then you went and made a solid one piece, yet functional, knife
Comment for the sake of commenting. You seriously deserve more subscribers / exposure
Thanks a lot! Cool of you to say. :)
Bro. That is one of the coolest designs for a knife I have ever seen, the copper/steel blend looks sick, and the quality is top notch. I want that knife. You just earned a subscriber.
Wow 🤩 new here. Stopped by when I saw the thumbnail. Happy I did. Very nice work sir
Much obliged! :)
That is one SHARP (see what I did there?) looking blade!!!!! Fantastic!!!
Awesome build. The video kept coming up on my feed but never took the time to look it up. Knife came out great. Especially for your first Cumai build. My first wasnt nearly as nice but it was a test with some lower quality materials to make sure I could make it stick before i spent way too much money making cooler stuff. Now im off to see the butterfly build!
Well after our challenge, I'm not sure whether I just got lucky with this cumai billet! Hats off to people who make it look easy. 😅
@@PJTForging after a few you get the feel for it. Maybe you should make a few more.
Absolutely epic! Brilliant design and great video! Earned a subscription from all the way down in South Africa 🇿🇦
Thanks Johannes! 🤘
Dude, That thing is beautiful! I'd really like to learn how to do that with copper.
That's a beautiful blade so much detail, I'd love to see a different blade 3 times bigger something like a Egyptian khopesh or Greek spartan kopis in the same sort of style
Hell Yeah!!!
HELL YEAH! 😂
Damascus steel is like leopard print clothing....not for everyone. Definitely not for me but i gotta admit in this knife it really looks fantastic. You created a thing of beauty 👌
Thanks a lot! :)
Awesome looking knife. Honestly I have to say I really enjoyed the spider video. You make great videos. Keep it up
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate it! :)
With never having done this before, I think you did a great job! Keep it up, and make more knives, as well! 💯
Bob Gore from Minnesota USA! 😎👍🏻🔨🔥🗡️
Thanks Bob! I'll see what I can do. 😅
I want one !
And I got the notification!!!
I’m telling you man, for some reason I didn’t get any notifications for the last two videos. I got sick of waiting and checked your channel to see if I just wasn’t notified and that was exactly the case. CZcams is messing with you or something. Make a Twitter!!!
Oh god no! I can't stand Twitter! 😅
Glad it's working now though! :)
Also, holy cow. What a knife man, well done
@@bleeblin5252 Thanks! :)
The archeologists that find this are gonna be like what? Must be aliens.
I have a question what kinda hydraulic forging hammer should I get for making Damascus
I’d like to see someone do this on forged in fire show. That be impressive
Wow, beauty! How does that squared handle feel?
It's actually very comfortable in the hand! :)
That’s a seriously nice looking blade well done .
Was howling at your rather head butt your own face than take it to 1200 grit 😂😂👍🏽
Thanks a lot Gerard! :)
Great build Phil. For some reason I've not been getting any notifications for your videos. Something had turned off my notifications bell. I came looking as I've not seen any posts from you in a while. Maybe a reason for your lower than usual traffic
Sorry Steve, I realised I totally blanked you for months! Looks like we're even now. 😅😂
@@PJTForging no worries. I’ll try and pay attention in future 🤣
Douwe egberts is from Holland i tought you were from holland lol. The knife looks beatifull! It looks like it was a curved sword but the blade broke and turned it into a knife
Cheers! I wish I was from Holland! :)
Awesome! What is the tape you used with your laser?
Just normal electric tape, then parcel tape to transfer. Just bear in mind the smoke is toxic, so use in a well ventilated area.
@@PJTForging thanks!
i love the knife
tut tut that you drink instant coffee though 😂
I work for the public sector... I'm used to crappy hospital coffee, so anything better than that is a bonus. 😂
If you use stones instead of sand lord your copper wind do it. That’s a beautiful knife
cool
Cool knife. Now back to blacksmithing. :) I want to make something (not a knife) out of copper Damascus
Any ideas in mind?
@@PJTForging for me i like to sculpt faces and animal heads. wonder what that would look like? Or also candle holders, BBQ set, picture frame, Fire place set, maybe just a piece of wall art. a Russian rose or other flowers.....................
@@jonandersen3347 fire place set probably is a bad combination for this... The copper would conduct the heat into your hand... Plus, low melting point.
Sculpture sounds cool as hell though!
Absolutely beautiful work dude!!
You carry your creativity across the different aspects of the blacksmithing craft and it is amazing every time!
Keep up the fantastic work!!
Thanks a lot CJ!
👏👏👏👏👏
great video!! Are you fluxing the billet at all ?? Borax etc??
No, the reason you weld all of the seams is to prevent the oxygen getting between the layers. :)
@@PJTForging thank you so much for sharing that! I really appreciate the knowledge
Very nice work, I came to your channel because you was making a Damascus copper knife . After seeing your work would like to see more of it. My wife loves dragonflys have you ever made one using Damascus?
Thanks a lot Donnie! I have never tried a dragonfly, not sure I'd know where to start. 😅
Think I'm gonna try a copper Damascus axe next. :)
Awesome can't wait to see it!
I'd do a cube of these metal lasagna and put it in CNC cutter to make a watch case. That would be sick.
Phil, FWIW, I rather enjoyed the butterfly video. This video was equally great, and as beautiful as the knife is, I couldn’t help but wonder how it would fare in J. Neilson’s “smash every inconceivable thing for no good reason” test.
I think it would probably hold up ok... Obviously it probably wouldn't be as strong as a solid steel blade, but I left the blade pretty chunky so I guess that's make up for it.
I know I didn't test it much on camera, but after chopping that 2x4, the edge retention was still good enough to shave with, so who knows? 😅
Thanks for the nice comment! :)
right im not having that
i will go post your spider gate on my face book
simon
Hahaha! Cheers dude! Don't worry, the guilt tripping was only for comic effect, not to be taken seriously!
You have definitely become my favourite smith.
Do you do commission work?
Thanks a lot Jim! 🤘🔥
I'm afraid not. I'm only a hobbyist and I am still learning myself. I wouldn't be able to charge a fair rate as I'm too inexperienced to make anything in a remotely time efficient way. 😅
@@PJTForging that's a shame.
If you change your mind and fancy making a Bowie then please let me know.
👍🏼🍺🔥
:)
👍
How much to make one?
Just wanted to let you know that you have a doppelganger that lives in Salt Lake city, utah he one of my neighbors. he a Nice guy but his voice is deeper and no accent
I don't know how I feel about that. 😅
should make short work of your steak dinner, just need to make a matching fork...
I genuinely can't stand even the thought of hand sanding all the prongs! 😅
I' d like one please!!!!!!!!!!
👍 👍
Are you going to make more
As we speak. ;)
make 2 knives next time ;)
I'm working on 3 currently... Kinda. 😉
