I've got the same welder, "works well enough for what I do" sums it up perfectly
That look is stunning, cells multiplying
Yes I love it brother no power hammer or press!! Old school all the way! Nice piece of artwork, man!!
So much hammering, lol. Gives a huge amount of respect for the process.
Great job on this one! Good choice leaving it thick for the quench. My only wish is that you made this one a hidden tang so you got more blade length to expose that cool pattern! It would look amazing with a copper guard... next time. Amazing build, Erick!
Cool how the copper mixed in the strands of the cable. Awesome potential so far!!
That looks killer as hell
The interaction between the cable and copper is really neat! Dont worry about the size. It gives you a reason to make a bigger knife using same technique...
Oh wow! This is really awesome! I enjoyed your tip on the indexing handle on the billet! That was brilliant! Came out great man! A+
I like this video a lot. Glad you are as vocal as you are and I’ll be back for more !
Awesome! The copper highlights the cable beautifully, gives a real organic pattern. Well done!
some real gorgeous patterning
Thank you! 😊
Thanks for sharing !!!
Excellent! I share your enthusiasm that it worked out the way you wanted it to. The cable really adds an interesting visual dimension you wouldn't have otherwise, so your billet choices were spot on. I expect lots of folks will try this now that you've demonstrated that it's possible.
That's the plan. More people should try it.
Yea i thought the copper would just be boiling liquid at steel welding temps. I suck at forge welding though! :D
Yes! Proper cutting wheel usage. My neighbor took a wheel to the lip for not using one correctly. Pinched the wheel and it blew up.
How so ? He's missing the guard and that's pretty dangerous when using such cutting wheels that are prone to breakage. Not that I haven't done it, but it definitely isn't the proper way of doing it.
So awesome great work!!
Thank you!
I like the copper look when its done right, and you are doing it right
Thank you!
Turned out pretty sweet please do a bigger one soon
Wow. Amazing! This is the first video I've seen of yours. New subscriber!
Awesome! Thank you!
Wow these bevels look amazing, the cables mixed with copper give a super pattern 👌
Thanks!
Maaan i want to be happy as you are!!
Make more vids for us and keep up the smile, i hope you 2 have awesome day!
Just seeing this but man that’s some amazing pattern great job on knife and video!
Thank you! You just never know when a video is going to come across someones feed. Glad you stopped and watched.
Amazing result, you primed me uo to make my own, much respect !
Glad to hear it!
Beautiful pattern, I'm impressed that worked.
Looks cool can't wIt to finished product 👌
Hopefully you like it.
This is super awesome. I can see a lot of projects from this technique. From tools to jewelry.
Glad you like it!
I'd like to see a copper tubing forged with a steel cable inside. Then you'd have a Damascus center with copper jacket on the blade face
Cable looks like fossils in the copper. Really cool ! Stay warm !
Thanks, you too!
I am absolutely thrilled for you mate, its turned out something spectacular and full credit to your skills so far in managing temps and gentle going with the hammer
Thanks!
I was blown away at how good this came out so far. That pattern is awesome! Can't wait to see the final outcome. Hope all goes well in the quench.
Thanks, I hope so too!
That is incredibly impressive that you got it to weld! excited to see how it turns out
Thats badass!
Thank you!
My Dude! - you are an inspiration to me. All I have is a HF lukewarm cheapie too. I get discouraged sometimes by so many folks having great kit. If you can do it, I can try it too. Thank you!! Subscribed
Thanks for the video. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see it finished!
That came out awesome love how the copper and cable meshed. Love love love this idea.
Glad you like it!! I'm definitely happy with the results so far.
Always stoked to see another one of your videos pop up! Great job
Thanks!
Man! Awesome! I'm happy when I hand forge canister or any other Damascus. Copper and cable!!!??? Crazy cool! And the colors, son, you are good! Keep up the good work!
Thanks, will do 👍
Knife making goals right there, that’s some very nice work, can’t wait to see the finished product. 👍🏻👍🏻🇦🇺.
Thank you!
Nice . I subscribed. Cheers for the cool looking knifes.
Very nice job.!!
Thank you!
Dude! WOW WOW WOW! I was the doubting Thomas, so glad I was wrong. Sick man!
Glad you liked it!
Did a fantastic job on this i wondered if that was possible Because of the difference in heat temperatures now but now i have a way to go bout it thanks again!!!
I love it so beautiful can't wait to see the finished product
If you haven't got a chance to see it yet here is a link to the finishing of the knife:

@@theriversexperience9383 You're welcome!
That looks awesome mate. Seriously cool pattern with the copper mingling with the cable. Very cool!
Thanks!
Very cool piece! You have much talent sir 👍👍
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙏
My EDC is usually a 7 to 10 inch fixed blade. A little knife almost always sucks. Of course, 90 percent of my work is outdoors.
Good work!
Thank you!
Looks great! Looking forward to seeing the final result.
Thanks!
That’s lookin rad
Thank you!
Another brilliant video, well done brother 👍🏼
Yes I liked mine own comment, what about it? Lol
HAHA, nothing wrong with that!
Dang good idea!
Thanks!
I loved the sneak peak yesterday! Thank you! I was really excited to see this video!
Dude, I can't wait to heat treat it and grind the bevels up higher and etch it. I'm thinking about just doing a coffee etch.
Copper/steel billets really seem to be en vogue right now! 👍🏻✌🏻
Wow!! Very, very cool! And the video is very nicely done.
Thank you!
Nice! Had me wondering about the copper lol. Great job man.
I love the look of this knife!!!!!
Thank you!
Thats awesome man!!! Glad it worked! That looks sic! 🔥⚒💪🏻
Thanks man!
1st time I've heard of pre heating the anvil
Dude that is amazing! I want one.
That looks epic as man. Well done.
Thanks!
That's cool, very cool looking!
Thanks!
Im looking forward to trying this for myself looks pretty dang cool and I hope to see you do more videos mixing copper with cable
I've got a real cool build coming up that will be a larger and more complicated version of this build.
Did a great job :-) looks really good, it came out really well, like a nice damascus steel pattern on there with the copper colour, worked it well, great piece.
Thanks so much.
Sick. And, that’s a good thing.
You make me want a knife made from this stuff, it looks sweet
Just don't taste it while it is glowing.
so awesome man!!! i love it!!! great work as always!
Thanks a ton!
😁Nice work
😅 Thanks!
Great job Erick!
Thank you!
Looking forward to the finished knife.👍
You and me both!
Well done, my man!!!
Thanks!
Greetings Erick!
What part of the Country do you live in?
I'm in SoCal. My Grandmother is Japanese. This must be why Knife Making is in my blood, and why I love The Japanese Art.
Blessings!
Hawk.
Heck yeah. I gotta find the follow up vid. Looks amazing so far. The contrast might not be quite so stark here, but after hand sanding and polishing I can imagine how it will look. Great idea and great job bringing it to this point. I sure hope it completes the way it is going so far. SUB'd.
Keep your billet clean! 👍
Great job man.. subbed😁
Thats looks cool man I think I'm gunna give it a go.
Thanks and good luck with your build.
I can't wait to see what the finished knife looks like you're going to cost me some money now you have me wanting to start working on knives again
Sometimes you just need the right nudge to start again, lol.
thats an absolutely beautiful knife
Looks fantastic! It us going to be a awesome blade.
I enjoy your videos, as soon as we thaw out a bit up here in Alaska, I plan on trying one of these copper/steel blades. I have what I hope will be an unique take on it.
Sounds great! Thanks for watching.
Awesome
Thank you!
A challenge - make a laminated left-handed single-bevel bush craft blade.
That looks awesome man! Just found your channel I got about the same tool as you and those are some great tips bro. keep up the good work 🤟✌️
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome job, well done!
Thanks!
It could be a paper weight , & that copper & cable are gonna look killer when finished !
Looks awsome
Nice.
Shoutout to Bic mechanical pencils
Super
Cool man! Your plan worked. A full flat grind on the finished product would show as much of the pattern as possible?
Yup doing a higher grind and etching is going to make everything pop.
Just watched your video. Watching paint dry is more exciting.
I paint as well.
A+
Thanks!
Great video my man, you gained a subscriber. Great job infusing the copper, I’m not sure how it just didn’t melt away? 😂😂😂
There is a lot of watching the forge during this melting process to make sure that you don't melt anything more than you want it to melt.
That looks amazing Eric.
Thank you!
Cool build man
Thanks!
That's awesome man! I'm curious to see how you leave the finish on the part that's still forge finished.
Thanks!
What wall thickness did you use for your canister and end caps? Just started forging a little while ago and wanted to try some canister Damascus.
So cool !!! 👍👍
Thanks!!
interesting idea
Glad you think so!
Why not have your furnace set up with a temperature controller (with thermocouples) to maintain a specific temperature to match what you are working on? I had 40 years in high tech aerospace materials and one of the major requirements to give the required properties and structural consistency and work-ability of some seriously tough and critical materials was temperature control.
Men it looks cool
Thanks!
@@theriversexperience9383 hope to see more stuff liked that
Insane I think that I am going to try to make something like that
