- Out of nowhere it looks like we may have seen Capcom's next big remake leak out early, unless there's something else going on here. The PS5 Pro had some new details revealed giving us an idea as to what developers will need to do to get the Enhanced label for their games.

Investors for a lot of these companies are some of the greediest people I’ve ever seen. Even the notion of asking Embracer if they’re looking to acquire studios right now shows an almost rabid, animalistic appetite for growth that contributes to the constant bone-headed decisions these company suits make. A level of insatiable greed that’s scary to watch.

They would put the one in because people call it RE1. When people talk about the series they refer to it as RE. Capcom will not want to promote confusion.
Same reason they say "A New Hope" or "Episode IV" instead of just calling it "Star Wars." It gets a little confusing when the first entry is also the name of the whole series.

PS5 hasn’t even been unlocked by a game in terms of its true potential and now we need a pro model…? I just don’t get it.
Vanillaware deserved another successful release and thankfully Unicorn overlord delivered, the game as far as my experience is concerned, I’ve not seen any horrible optimization or any bugs, glitches no micro transactions it’s just a fully fledged Strategy RTS hybrid with beautiful 2D character designs and illustrations, man….the food in the game is nuts.
This studio has a unique charm to them in the industry that makes them stand out, heck if I’m not mistaken wasn’t there a quote from Guillermo del toro brought up that Vanillaware needs to be protected or something of the sort when he played Dragons Crown.
The localization is trash.

I don’t think we do. PS4 pro atleast made some sense. The adoption of 4k tvs took off like mad during that gen. My ps5 box already says 8k. It was already supposed to give me 60 frames and 4k. Unless there is something extremely better-I’ll stick with my launch boy

I'd just buy the Gen 10 systems (assuming the Series X Digital and PS5 Pro don't FVK up the idea of console gaming, which, given the Big 3's respective track records, I pretty much expect to happen) if only for the sake of backwards compatibility with prior systems.

I love unicorn Overlord, I urge everyone to at least try the demo if you like real time strategy rpgs.
The demo is longer than some full games. It gives you 8 hours, which is wild. After about 3 I just pre-ordered it. Great game that more should play for sure.

@@streetmagik3105 sadly for some reason Vanillaware themselves didn't want the game to be released on PC, dunno why. Atlus wanted a PC release though, but the contract they signed with Vanillaware prevented them from releasing a PC port.
At least they released it on Xbox though, which is great

Usually it comes down to budget though and they ran out of money--the director had to put up his own money to finish the game. Maybe if this game continues to sell they might port it to PC, who knows? I still want some of their older games ported to newer consoles. Muramasa HD being stuck on Vita is criminal, and I'd love Odin Sphere and Dragons Crown on Switch.

I don't think investors are entirely responsible for studios chasing Fortnite or Destiny. A lot of studios think they can pull it off and willingly take on the challenge to repeat the success of Epic and Bungie. Thing is, Epic and Bungie both had a lot of experience with mp games, while Rocksteady and Crystal D, for example, they should have started off with smaller scale mp projects before wasting years and 100s of millions of $$$$.
If Capcom does a RE1 remake, that wouldn't be a surprise; the same for RE0, RE5, and RE6.
8K is a gimmick. What we need is native 4K running at locked 60 fps with ray tracing at best.

Bless you man, I think they'll still be available for a little while longer but I'd recommend picking them up before the end of the year if you intend on going so. VanillaWare games always seem to hold their value quite well and they seem to have had good sales this time around too. Honestly, for what the price is worth I'd probably go for the collectors edition if it's close to retail it's such a nice looking one.
As much as I don’t believe this RE1 remake leak, it makes so much sense. Capcom has had a track record of announcing remakes 6-8 months before launch. I think it would also makes more sense to have RE9 as their 30th anniversary game to conclude all the original characters stories, the end of the FPS horror trilogy, and start a new going forward!
And still no BN 7, legends 3 and star force 4.....

1) The fact that it's plausible is what makes it a *good* April Fool's joke, rather than an obvious one.
2) As far as Capcom is concerned, they already gave RE1 and RE0 their remakes with the RE Origins Collection. The next remake will be 5, and then they're going to have to sit there and think long and hard about whether 6 can be salvaged (it cannot) or they should do Code Veronica instead (yes).
Those arcs were already concluded several times but they just cannot help themselves when it comes to bringing back old characters and Unbrella lol
The problem with the poll is do we even get 1080p 60 so many of these games look extremely blurry in performance mode.

They and Microsoft wouldn't have to worry about if third-party games would actually arse themselves to fit with the PS5 and Series X|S specs. First party to an extent, as well, but third party shouldn't be ignored, either.

That Stellar Blade demo was awesome! I didn't expect that level of challenge, but configuring my dual sense edge made the combat feel soooo cinematic with perfect dodges and the blink ability. Day one pick up for me!

Yeah man, it’s pretty fun. I just would like if the combat was sped up a little bit to make it feel a little more DMCish/PlatinumGames-ish, but I think it’s at a nice combination of those two and Sekiro to make it unique.
Asides from satisfaction from perfect dodges, it reminded me a lot of Dead Cells by way of mashing so many genres into 1.
Stellar Blade is a Souls Like, Hack n Slash and Action Adventure akin to what God of War 2018 is.
@@MyManJFKTV I mean it’s not a hack n slash, it’s a more methodical yet flashy action rpg so the somewhat slower pace makes sense.
Plus depending on your understanding of the game’s mechanics, battles can be incredibly fast. After spending sometime practicing, I can now absolutely melt the Stalker boss fight with barely any down time.
I’ll just buy the ps6 with backwards compatibility in 2027 seems like the gen still hasn’t started yet tbh plus it’s not like we have a ton of new new games some games are still dropping on ps4
Capcom are on a roll and gearing up for a massive victory lap with RE1 in 26 to celebrate 30 years of RE, Code Veronica on schedule for 25 and a new “open world” RE9 in 27.
Funny enough I have Unicorn Overlord showing up today. Once I'm done with DD2 and Infinite Wealth, I'll be jumping into that!

I’ve never played a strategy RPG in my life. I downloaded UO demo and was immediately hooked. Thanks VanillaWare for releasing it for Series X owners! I’m loving every minute of this game.
Final Fantasy XVI will be a good title for the PS5 Pro, as some heavy scenes the resolution drops down to 720p, and some users also reported overheating due said scenes, so that would be a title that would benefit from PSSR for sure.
Overheating is definitely a user issue, dirty/caking up of dust, storage issue. I really hope that FFXVI Agets the nod though
To me its the frame rate outside of combat that's the main issue, even in so called "performance" mode. Square Enix should just admit their engine is trash at this point.
@@FreeAssange556 if they can hit 60 in battle, they can hit out and between the enhanced GPU, faster memory and the upscaling. I am confident they can get to 60FPS at a good resolution at least 1800 on vertical

Vanillaware do a PC port? That would be news they never did one before for ANY of their games and they do everything internally wiht a small team.
That's because their games are published by Atlus, and Atlus literally just learned that people game on PC lol. It would be pretty dumb for them to not have a PC version. Should have been ready same day tbh.

I honestly think they're locked in that mentality where they look at the number of PC users who sail the high seas, especially in their two nearest neighbors (Russia and China) where the percentage is over 90%, and it just *galls* them to know that many people would steal their work, even if they did turn a profit thanks to the honest gamers.

I always pick the higher frame rate. The fact that so many games don't have 120fps modes really urks me. I'd rather more 1080p 120fps games over true 4K since gameplay has always been more important to me. If PS5 Pro guaranteed 1080p 120fps on every game(including every release so far), then I'd consider the upgrade.
Long before COD black ops , Uncharted 4 PS5 upgraded and some racing games did provide high frame rate mode. No idea why games in this year or 2 did not have these features anymore.
PC can do that...consoles are worthless and you can make a system for the cost of a console these days...

After playing at 4k for a while I cant go back to 1080p, it just looks bad in comparison. This is one place where PC is much better than console, you have a lot more adjustment in the menus.

I don’t understand why VRR isn’t put into all games. I get it that not everyone has a VRR display but the feature being there would make more sense than them spending more money to sucker people into buying a pro version console for better performance. On Xbox I played the medium at 120fps because of VRR. Plague tale innocence at 120fps because of it. RE4 with raytracing, hair stands, and on quality mode at 80fps because of VRR. Dying Light 2 unlocks the frame rate if you VRR. It makes more sense to implement this one feature for games than not.
I mean, everyone bought the PS2 for the DVD player when it came out - people didn’t even own a game. Switch is the best selling VG console, PS2 is best selling DVD player - though it was a great console for those that used it that way.
I remember, early in the PS2's life, when the most played disc on the PS2 in Japan was the DVD movie The Matrix.

theres talk that the dreamcast and saturn sold a fair bit more than their reported figures but we just stick to the official estimates to avoid confusion. same should be done for the PS2.

If we ever get a RE1 remake remake, I really really really hope you could have an unlockable FPS mode or if the game itself is in first person. The first game is perfect to be an fps game especially with the tight corridors and clausterphobic settings.

God I wish they would stop releasing Pro consoles. Developers are already having MAJOR issues with 10 different platforms for every major release. If there were just 2 consoles + Switch it would lower dev costs, allow them to learn the hardware and optimize. The Series X and PS5 are already 4k 60fps consoles.
I don't think Jim Ryan understands that the reason people think the PS2 is the GOAT console is because of the games, not the sales. People would still generally prefer it to the Switch and PS5 even if either of them outsold it.
Nah Switch's games library is ridiculously good and the consoles is selling because of that while a LOT of PS2 consoles were sold because it was a cheap DVD player

So many people still making comments about FF7 Rebirth. I can't deal with the muddy look of performance mode, so have been playing it on graphics mode; there's no way it's just 30fps though. Graphics mode looks beautiful and runs smoother than any other graphics mode I've tried in the past!! Exceptional 👏🏻👏🏻

Not that it matters anyway no source is going to acknowledge that figure without an actual source to back it up like a company report with regional and global sales data or multiple 3rd parties attesting that's how many they sold back in the day. That's how price aggregating works, could you imagine if everyone accepted sales data based on the words of some dickhead. I'd be able to say anything and get away with it.
It definitely has major "Have to raise the number, since the Switch is close to beating it." energy. I'm not one for conspiracies, but considering the reputation of the person saying it does put the statement into question.
Hell, I'd say at least half of those purchases were just to watch DVD movies... it was cheaper than any other DVD players at the time. In terms of "Gaming", the Switch has already beaten PS2 in that regard (and probably around the half way mark of its lifetime). Of course, the fanboys don't acknowledge this fact (go figure). Of course, we have to go with the "overall" number because a purchase is a purchase. Still, I can remember so many elderly people with a PS2 sitting on there entertainment center... I highly doubt they were playing any games lol.
@@ChrisClemmons So that's like saying Wii Sports was the one of the best selling games of all time because it came bundled with the Wii. Fact of the matter is the DVD format is why the GC got it's ass handed to it because Nintendo's 1.8GB mini-disc offered nothing in terms of storage capacity for 3rd party ports. Got a few good ones but ultimately nothing in the shadow of it's competition.

Lastly, the Gamecube on average had better graphics/resolution and framerate. So, if "gamers" wanted the best experience, it was on the Gamecube... Sony themselves admit that the driving factor was the DVD player and not just for games. Again, like I said, it was also the "CHEAPEST" DVD player on the market at the time. It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand this. Let's not fanboy this... it is what it is.

Thoughts: 1) hilarious irony is Microsoft launching Minecraft PSVR and it ends up rescuing PSVR2 after Sony just rolled over and gave up on it. 2) I feel like instead of doing an April Fools prank, Jon should do a “April Fools Round-Up” special episode where he covers all the big gaming related April Fools pranks, and debunks them.
Capcom isn't going to remake RE1. You wanna know why? Because they already did! Sure, it was all the way back on the GameCube, but it's still being regularly ported to new platforms (right now you can buy the original RE1 Remake on the Switch and PS4). That's why when they started remaking Resident Evil games about half a decade ago now, they started with RE2, not RE1. Because they already remade RE1 in an excellent package that just happens to be a little old. What I really want to see is Resident Evil - Code: Veronica or Resident Evil 5 get a remake treatment. RE-C:V is such an underrated RE game, it did so much right but likely because it was a Dreamcast exclusive for a long time it never really got it's chance in the limelight, and I found RE5 to be very enjoyable but not very scary so if they do remake RE5 hopefully they can keep the fun while bringing back the scarier elements of the games before it.
They remade RE4, which was more recent than REmake, and a much larger game to have to remake...
Might as well just make RE1 remake. They are already doing all the others. The original is a classic for sure, but to have a new perspective would be great.
We don't need the PS5 Pro, i don't see the point of paying another 500 for a new system when it's only an incremental upgrade over the original, it's just not worth it for me personally (and yes before anyone says it, i know opinions will differ here)

Yeah those PS2 sales numbers have been bullshit for a while now. It was sitting at 150 million for a long time until the Nintendo DS was approaching it and then it jumped to 155 million. Now the Switch is approaching it and looks to overtake it and it's magically jumping to 160 million now. They obviously don't want to lose that title because they know they won't ever achieve those numbers again. Half the people that bought that console bought it just to watch DVDs. The PS2 also had a price drop to $99. The Nintendo Switch hasn't had a price drop in it's 7 year run. And the PS2 was being sold for 13 years right up to the PS4 release. So the Switches numbers are much more impressive when it's all said and done.
It doesn't matter though no source is going to list that sales figure unless or global sales report comes backs that up. Fact of the matter is console sales tallies are corroborated using multiple sources (like Famitsu sales figures, official company reports) and aggregated together to present the approximate sales title which is what sites like VGChartz do. It's what Daniel Ahmad seems to be doing as well aligning units shipped with approximate units sold. Simply put, Jim Ryan's word means jack shit on it's own and I say this as someone who's owned almost every Sony console.
Considering what Capcom left out of Resident Evil 3 and 4's remakes, they'll probably leave out Chris' boulder-punching if they ever remake RE5.
What happens when Nintendo releases an updated console and drops the price on the current Switch? And continues to sell it for another 1-2 years? Yeah, another 5M units is a cake-walk.
For poll of the day I chose 60fps but it depends on how much detail cutting the game does, if its too much then I go 30fps but if its not a steady 30fps then I choose 60fps.
If the Switch and now my Deck has taught me anything, it’s that higher end graphics weren’t what was drawing me to play and be excited about kore games.

Definitely want RE 1. And I hope they do a VR mode like they did with RE4. RE4 on PSVR2 was one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in years. It was amazing.
I tend to leave settings on their default(which when sound mixing is bad it really shows, like who played that part and went 'It's good, ship it'? background music should not drown out dialogue), which is for resolution is usually 'Graphics' even though I only have a 1080p TV. If the game presented me with those specific options on boot up, given my setup I'd probably be more inclined to go for 1080p 60.

It doesn't even have to be 60 fps. 40-45 is enough to make the game feel smoother and responsive.

Plus numbers we had are not "sold consoles", they're "shipped consoles", it's all consoles that ever hit the stores, it's quite literally impossible to sell more than that, especially considering they don't manufacture and ship them anymore.

Since Sony can't get the PS5 to deliver the promise of its capabilities, isn't this Pro model them fixing their fail? And then they want us to pay for it? PS4 Pro made sence since display technology changed at its time. This one feels like a, "Our Bad, get this instead"
I actually think upscaling is so good today that most games could just as well be runned at 1080p and then upscaled to whatever resolution you want.
Currently running my rog ally like that, 900p and upscaled to 4K and I actually have a hard time telling the difference between that and my Xbox Series X.

Sony never updated the ps2 classic section on the ps store since then until the revision of the PS Plus when they wanted more people to pay and subscribe to the higer tier.
sega has published three amazing RPGs this year, infinite wealth, persona 3 reload and now unicorn overlord. plus they have all those remakes of their old IP and sonic x shadow generations still to release. things are really looking up for ol sega.
Keep in my that the PS2 sustained momentum because of price cuts and redesigned to the slim version. Switch sold the numbers they have now with no price drop. The Lite was not much of an impact and the OLED is $50 more. So in the tail end of the Switch, if they drop the price, they can sustain similar momentum to reach numbers we haven’t seen before when it surpasses the unofficial PS2 number of 160 million.

I think some sort of legal investigation should be done on embracer group. The fact that they purchased all these studios and IPs knowing they don't have the resources to support any of them in the hopes they could flip all of it for a higher price seems sort of illegal. This isn't property or something this is people's livelihoods they are ruining on what amounts to a failed casino gamble.
