My husband and I danced to this until 2008. He told me this was what he wanted at his farewell party. His family chose otherwise but I still listen to it. Miss him. Love this song from my soul ❤

I used to sing with Gene's brother Jessie at my Uncle's house and at church.
Imagine my surprise when I got to meet Gene Watson and sing with him in his garage. Jessie and my Uncle wanted him to here me sing a song. He liked the song so much, he asked me to teach it to him.
That was when he lived in Houston Texas.
Years later a friend took me to see him in concert and he remembered me.😊
THERE WILL NEVER BE A REPLACEMENT FOR THESE SINGER'S,AND WE ALL HAVE BEEN SO BLESSED TO HAVE BEEN AROUND TO SEE AND HEAR THE HISTORY THAT HAS BEEN OUR PLEASURE.

Absolutely no better real country singer than Gene Watson. He is outstanding with every song he sings. Makes you feel as though you are living with the song he is singing or have heartbreaking memories from the song he is singing. No one can sing a tear jerking song better than Gene Watson. If he isn't in the Country Music Hall of Fame then no one should be.

Gene Watson is one of the greats. We saw him , he was young and we were young at Mama's country showplace on Covington Highway near Decatur Georgia and became immediate fans. We are nearing 80 and still enjoy his music. Country music is no longer country music. Long live the 60's--70's--80's.

I have a 2 year old Great Grandson that I have sang this song to since he was a newborn. He Loves it and now he turns 3 in January and he sings it to me only he sings I'll be sad when you're gone. Melts my heart but that's Our song. What beautiful Memories this song has for both of us.

I realize now why my older brother liked this song, he passed in January at 69 in Georgia , he still loved his wife and wanted her back more than I ever thought but it didn't happen, he passed alone in a rehabilitation facility, he thought he'd make it home but his heart and lungs were too far gone. Hope to have a memorial for him and play this song soon.

We saw him about a month ago in East Texas and as always, he puts on a superb show. He'll be 80 on October 11th and he sounds exactly the same as this video. He has an absolutely amazing voice! It's such a crying shame that he's been SO underrated by Nashville! Nothing fancy, just honesty and integrity with style and class. One thing that Nashville is definitely lacking today . He should have been in the CM Hall of Fame YEARS ago. Such a fantastic singer! It's proven that his music has transcended the test of time!
