Heard this song for years and it's been played at a lot of the funerals over the years
I’ve been a Gene fan since I was a teenager. The most impressive thing about Gene and this song is to watch him sing it among the best country singers around. When he gets to the very last line that he so powerfully sings “when I’m gone”, even the stars will start squirming in there chairs, just waiting for him to hit that iconic ending. He always nails it and even the stars ALWAYS give him a standing ovation. He’s the greatest!

@Gene Watson PS I do sing Love in the Hot Afternoon and Farewell Party regularly at karaoke--but have to do FP down a step because of those last 3 amazing note that you STILL hit so effortlessly!
