- This is our First time in Denmark and our first time to explore Copenhagen. Denmark has been a place we always wanted to visit and we always hear such wonderful things about Copenhagen so we decided to spend 3 days in this wonderful city. In this video we share our first impressions of Copenhagen and Denmark in general. We visit the popular Nyhavn area of Copenhagen. Nyhavn is a 17th-century waterfront, canal and entertainment district in Copenhagen, Denmark. We also take a canal cruise through the city giving us a different perspective of Copenhagen and just how beautiful Denmark is.
We also take the local bus to a place called Reffen - Copenhagen Street Food. Reffen is the largest street food market in the Nordic Regions. Reffen is a pulsating waterfront oasis where street food enthusiasts, artisans, container romantics, music lovers, curious minds and everyone else come together to enjoy exciting food, different cultures and good vibes.
Our visit to Copenhagen has been made extra special by the fantastic accommodation we are staying on our trip to Denmark. The wonderful Next House Copenhagen is by the far, the best place to stay in Copenhagen.

We would love to visit in Summer, Reffen was one of our favourite places in Copenhagen 💖
Thank u for showing
thank you so much for watching :-)
Great video guys 🎉
thanks so much for watching 👍 Copenhagen is definetly worth a visit for sure....
New Hawn. English language derived from Scandinavian languages. If you will know the alphabet it is very easy to read in an "English way" . For example in Ireland places that were called originally by the Vikings are Carlingford (Carl's Fjord) or Waterford (Vande Fjord)
Oh wow! That’s super interesting, we didn’t know this but it makes sense when you say it….its funny knowing about Carlingford and Waterford and how it translates to Fjord 🤩 thanks for letting us know 👍
Also Copenhagen is the English name for the capital, so no need to try and say it any other way then the way you would say it in English.
And "hund" I think ??
@@Drescher1984 yea for some reason some people use the German name for Copenhagen (Kopenhagen in German) when speaking English, thinking it 's the Danish name for the city. I know it shouldn't be, but it's kind of annoying to me. Just use the English name.
@@GoTimeTravels More then 800 words in english stem from danish ;)
Beautiful city good video ❤ beer expensive
Thank you 🙏 yes the beer is expensive, but the city is also beautiful
@@GoTimeTravels This is why we Danes always bring the beer from a supermarked and enjoy it while sitting right next to the canals. 😄👍
@@chardington3412 I've heard this before, and will definitely do that when we get to Copenhagen in July :D
@@krakenbutt you can also bring a beer and a sandwich to any park and sit on the grass or a bench many Danes do than in the summer , if you like museums, castles, amusement parks ect. look up Copenhagen card to save money, especially if you visit more than 2 days and want to see a lot
There are cheaper places though. Nyhavn is a tourist trap.
You must try the worldfamouse deiselburgers. The burgers they serve is said to be one of the best hamburgers in the world. Love your swedish danishj vlog. Really great
Hi guys Vigo Morterson most famous trogily was Lord of the rings he played Aargon/Strider , great video guys ❤❤
You probably won’t believe this, but we have never seen Game of Thrones 🫣 I’m sure that would have been a much better reference than Ghostbusters 😅
@@GoTimeTravels you probably won’t believe this, but lord of the rings and games of thrones. is 2 different things
*Meant to type Lord of the Rings
On the topic of GoT one of the leads in that show is Danish. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
@@GoTimeTravels But Game of thrones also have a danish actor. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
that hostel looks amazing. Wauw
it really was, we loved it there :-)
Remoulade is very popular in Denmark.
I find that it's very good at balacing the taste of ketchup.
It goes very well with frikadeller and battered fish fillets.
Next House is an amazing place. They also have a really great rooftop bar. Very popular in the summer.
We loved it too 🤩 such a great place to stay in Copenhagen. We didn’t get to see the rooftop bar but we will love to see it in the summer 😎
Nice video!
Thanks so much 💖💖
The hot dog was giving me Iceland vibes. I loved the one in Reykjavik. Did they have a veggie friendly one for you Caolin? I swear every time we stopped at a nestie we got one,p! That kind of looks like a trailer park food hall. The pizza was nice option after some brews. Thanks for the tour guys! Very cool pods also. Great amenities for sure.
Usually there is options for Vegan hot dogs, but sometimes you can be unlucky not to find them. In Norway they are everywhere which is great. 👍
The hostel was fantastic, such a cool place to stay and very lovey too 🍻
@@GoTimeTravels brings me back to my college days staying through Europe . we also were able to go to backpackers hostel in akerarie.
CopenhAYgen is preferred. To us danish folk we say København, so when you say Copenhaagen it honestly just sounds like you’re saying it with a German accent. 😂 But just say it whichever way you like. Hope you had a wonderful time.
haha ok, thank you :-) we had such a wonderful time in Copenhagen, we loved it
love the channel
Thanks so much, that’s so kind 💖
Danish cucumber pickles on a hotdog are not strong salty-sour but sweet-vinegary, so it may be that you like the Danish version, even if you usually would not like them. As for Remoulade, then Danes use this about as much and on everything, as we use ketchup, so this is a standard food topping item in all Danish kitchens.
Lovely Dear NIce.. Our SOUTH Indian movies are shot mostly there.. THE COLOURFUL Houses... and SEA and FOOD is wow...
The TRUCK Culture is there in Melbourne,VICTORIA Also... VIsit Melbourne , VICTORIA in future..
what you paid for those two beers you could have gotten a 24pack of cans at the supermarket with the same beer.
Best is to find a Netto and buy some nice picknick stuff and use one of the many parks in copenhagen.
There is also alot of other things to see outside of copenhagen and the prices will drop the further you go :D
loved the video. cheers from denmark.
This is almost a pro tip for Danish day drinking, except you don't have to buy a stack. You can get good beers at a good price and you are allowed to enjoy them at the park or harbor.
Hi😊have a beautiful day🌱🕊
Thank you, you too 💖
Where you started the video, it's near the cheaper canal boat tours, where the guide is university students usually.
Netto Bådene,
r u coming to Malmö sweden? its just across the bridge from Copenhagen
Not on this trip, but we will definitely visit Sweden at some stage 👍
The disney Movie Frozen is also based on a H. C. Andersen tale, "the snow Queen"
Oh wow! We didn’t know this, thanks for letting us know 👍
Viggo Mortensen was what in Ghostbusters 😅
He was probably most famous (at least by the rest of the world) as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings 😄 If that franchise rings a bell
Shamefully we never seen lord of the rings 😞
And now 1 of the building you did see called børsen .Has burn down ,it was 400 years old ,and there is lars Ulrich the drummer from Metallica
We seen on the news about the fire, it was awful that that happened. I actually meant to mention Lars Ulrich in the video but I forgot 🙄
♥️👍🏽🇩🇰
Thank you 🙏 💖💖🇩🇰
As a Dane I will say that I more often see people drink Tuborg or Tuborg Classic rhan a Carlsberg. Thoe if you go for Carlsberg then take the "Jacobsen" serie of the Carlsberg beers it's way better quality than normal Carlsberg
When you talk about Carlsberg, it sounds like you are of the opinion that it is a type of beer. Carlsberg is a large beer company that has a large selection of beers and owns many other beer companies around the world 😂
When in Nyhavn, don't buy beer from the restaurants, one of the side streets has a small kiosk, buy it there :P You can drink in public in Denmark so you can still stay in Nyhavn just not sit at a restaurant table.
oh wow we didnt know this, thanks for the tip :-)
Hey uhm i dont know if you will see this but its very important, if you visit denmark again, please dont point. Not even at buildings or anything, its seen as very weird and rude. Its like going, “oh thats ugly” but without speaking
Fun fact: In the rest of Denmark the prices are 1/3 and the signs are in danish.
Tuborg beer is made by Carlsberg😉
Oh wow is it really? We didn’t know this…
@@GoTimeTravels You both could have and should have googled it before making your video....
@@GoTimeTravels .. Lots of different beers from different countries are made by Carlsberg, just to name a few, Kronenbourg 1664 and Tetley's (UK) and also used to own the 2nd largest brewery in Europe, Russia's best-selling beer brand Baltika/Балтика, but that was confiscated by the Russian state when Carlsberg pulled out of Russia for good.
The Baltika brewery and brand itself was worth $3 billion according to the last Carlsberg accounts, before the Russians stole it all.
Carlsberg then terminated its brewing license with Baltika in October last year, following the illegitimate takeover, which meant Baltika could no longer produce, market or sell any Carlsberg Group products, starting this month.
In response, Baltika then took legal action against Carlsberg in a court in St. Petersburg in December last year, claiming damages to the value of $900 million. Crazy stuff, but they will obviously not see a penny of that, if Baltika "win" this case in a Russian "kangaroo" mock court.
How to pronounce 'Copenhagen' in Danish, if you are an English speaker: (København: it stems from 'købmænds havn' - meaning 'merchants harbour')
- 'K' is 'K'.
- The Ø-sound: like in 'curly','early', 'ernest'
- The -ben-sound: like Big Ben, like bender...
- The 'Havn': the V-sound is a AU-sound, like 'town' , 'frown', 'noun'
oh interesting, thanks for the info. we try our best, we know how irritating it can be to watch someone pronounce things incorrectly
It is not irritating. We know it is difficult. But I noticed that many people struggle with it, si just to offer a possible guideline. Don't worry about it.
If you want to get really local, i would almost drop the 'E' so more like a Købnhavn
that hostel is fucking legit.. a BUFFET downstairs from where i sleep is dangerous.. i'd decimate that food.
haha it really was the perfect place to stay......
เมืองสวยมากครับ ทักทายจากเมืองไทยครับ😊❤🎉
Greetings to you too 💖
no danes i know of drink carlsberg, either classic or grøn tuborg
Oh really? We didn’t know this. We have been sticking to the Tuborg Classic, it’s been really nice 👌
Lots of danes drink Carlsberg.
Nyhavn pronounce is very close to be correct, especially the Havn part.
Copenhagen is the English version. Kopenhagen is German. København is Danish.
Yes, Denmark is expensive, CPH even more.
Reffen is for startups. First 3 years, you don't pay rent for your stall. If you are Irish, getting a stall should be possible without major hassle. 🙂 Irish Stew could be nice.
"Reffen is for startups. First 3 years, you don't pay rent for your stall." Wow, this was really interesting to know. We're planning on visitin Copenhagen in July and I was looking up for some spots for a couple of foodies, and Reffen is mentioned a lot, so I guess that's one place one shouldn't miss while there...
@@krakenbutt A nice summer evening at Reffen is great. The Yellow Ferries sail to Reffen, if I remember correct. Those ferries are public transport, remember that, because when you buy a ticket in Copenhagen, you buy transport from A to B. What kind of transport, is up to you. You can even mix a trip on different means of transportation.
It is like Berlin.
@@Gert-DK Yes, I've done some research already because I'm an early hype -kind of person, so I know about the ferries and that they should be included in the City Pass which we'll probably opt rather than the Copenhagen Card, as the latter is much more expensive due its offering free entries to a lot of destinations. As we want to keep our visit and schedule relaxed, I strongly think that we wouldn't get our money's worth with the Card.
@@krakenbutt Yeah, City Pass is really nice. Very convenient, just put the ticket in the wallet and show it if anybody asks.
If you in Denmark go to faroe island ❤
oh wow! sounds interesting, maybe next time for sure....
Faroe islands is North of Scotland and East of Iceland. So if you want to go to Faroe islands, go to Faroe islands hehe. No point in going to Denmark first, unless it's the easiest way to get a flight to Faroe islands.
@@Drescher1984 aaahhh yeah makes sense if you live in Europe :) for Asians we need to go to Denmark first and get Danish visa and only then can get to faroe
I wouldn't say Copenhagen lays in the heart of Denmark. It's located at the east coast. It's not the center of the country.
In Jutland we call it Kjøvenhavn More like Kjø'ven'havn
That looked like 10 euros in guacamole...
Haha I know right 😂😂
Nice video, but you make a common mistake in thinking Copenhagen equals Denmark. Copenhagen has a lot of qualities but you'd experience a lot more by leaving the capital.
On the topic of Carlsberg - when Niels Bohr became the first Dane to win a Nobel price, Carlsberg gifted him a house in central Copenhagen with a private pipeline straight to the brewery.
This was mostly a publicity stunt, as Bohr at the time spent most of his life in the US. But still, a very Danish thing to do.
oh thats interesting, we didnt know that. it must be nice to have a private pipeline of beer to your house 😂 even if it was a publicity stunt...Does he still live in the US? or did the free beer tempt him to return to Denmark?
@@GoTimeTravels Oh, this was the Nobel Price in physics back in 1922. Bohr was one of the physicists who laid the foundations for the Manhattan Project, and in extention nuclear energy etc. He died in '62.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niels_Bohr
@@GoTimeTravels Albert Einstein made the theories about atoms, so to speak, discoveries that changed the time he lived in but Niels Bohr were the father of quantum physic's at the same timeperiod, the discoveries that change the time WE live in. He basically were one generation ahead. Niels Bohr also were behind that the particle accelerator in CERN were built, he opened it in his lifetime. That are where our largest discoveries in our time takes place right now. What they discover proves Niels Bohr´s theories were correct. When Niels Bohr originally came out with his quantum physic theories Albert Einstein objected and said it could not be true but later he actually came around and agreed that how odd it may be, it probably were correct. Now we know the theories were correct, proven by the experiments at CERN, the worlds largest particle generator.
Btw. Reffen just opened for the season. I agree, it´s a great atmosphere there and it´s easy to eat yourself round there and just enjoy the people and the waterfront. In a month´s time when weather have turned into summer mode, people take a swim and chill all day and night. Right next to it there also are a ponton based area where you can sunbathe and swim while getting a smoothie or drink etc. You deserve to experience it when real summertime.
Beautiful, love this! At my work we have a huge poster of Copenhagen with the colorful buildings. One of the customers I talked to today is from Denmark and I showed her your video, perfect timing lol. This is making me really excited for the Europe trip my friend and I will be taking next month, can't wait.
Carlsberg is an dane a “borring” beer… there are more better tasting beers here… but cheers to You two 😊
Yes Carlsberg is not our favourite either, we really liked Tuborg classic, we will try different ones next time also
Copenhagen isnst in the heart of Danmark. It is on the far east
Maersk shipping
Hans Christian Andersen was born in the city of Odense on the island of Fyn. He moved to Copenhagen and he did in fact live in Nyhavn. He ended up living in 3 different locations in Nyhavn during his lifetime.
Nyhavn is more for tourists. Few Danes and only very few locals from Copenhagen will probably go there to eat or drink. We tend to go to cheaper and less crowded places.
One of the things that surprise tourists are the bicycles. The bicycle is mostly used to commute in Copenhagen. Most of us learn to cycle from a very young age.
While the medieval part of Copenhagen definitely look somewhat old, there are actually only very few buildings in Copenhagen older than 1728 simply because the medieval part of Copenhagen suffered large fires in 1728, 1795 and 1807.
Other cities in Denmark actually have a much older infrastructure.
im a Dane , you show me places I didnt even know existed..in copenhagen..looks great.
Thank you so much for watching 💖
ja det hedder københavn (:
Super video, but, but I don't understand people who go on holiday in other countries to feel the culture of those countries and then buy food that has nothing to do with the country. Here the girl bought a Danish dish, great, but the man a taco.....I don't understand this. Could never dream of traveling to Ireland and eating Thai food and drinking French red wine, or visiting a food market with dishes from all over the world.......pizza, come on. NO it will bee Guiness and Irish stew in a irsk pub
Well, I don't really undestand people who diss other people's choice of how they're spending their holiday. You can "feel the culture" in so many ways, and a modern way is to explore and eat like locals. Or, are you saying that the locals only eat local food, and not dishes from anywhere else? Take Finland, for example. Our food culture is, in the end, pretty plain. Most of Finns even find it to be plain. Sure, you can go for karjalanpata (Karelian meat stew) or lohikeitto (salmon soup) every now and then, but in the end, we eat a lot of hamburgers, pizzas, Mexican, "Chinese", etc. So how about letting people do what they want and you do you :)
@@krakenbutt For me, food and drink are an essential part of a cultural experience, just like architecture, history and other cultural aspects. Traveling is not only about seeing the sights, but also about experiencing the local culture on all levels, including the food.
When we travel, we often want to step out of our comfort zone and explore new taste experiences. Trying local dishes allows us to understand a culture in a more intimate way, to understand the ingredients, flavors and traditions that make it up. It's like missing an important part of the journey if you simply "lock yourself up" in the hotel room and eat what you're used to at home.
Of course I respect that everyone has their own preferences and some may prefer the more familiar. But for me, food is a way to connect with a culture in a deeper way, and it is an important part of my travel experiences.😃
@@holgerandersengrn3457 " if you simply "lock yourself up" in the hotel room and eat what you're used to at home." Who's doing that?
Your view on traveling and cultural experience sounds nice and if that's what you like to do, then by all means you should do it. However, it would be also good to give room for others and their ways of doing it. Also, this was only their very first video from Copenhagen and there's more to come, so they surely will have at least more opportunities to try out local cuisine.
dont by beer in nyhavn is a rip off
Great vid but you got it all wrong English: CopenHAYgen
German: Copenhaagen
Danish: København
We say it in English when speaking English and German when speaking German. We do t say it in German when speaking English though. So say CopenHAYgen when speaking English otherwise you are implying we speak German which is kinda offensive since we are not a northern German province.
So the song and Danny Kaye is all wrong when it comes to pronunciation.
Yeah, so Danish big brand beer is like US beer; tasteless and inoffensive. If you want good beer in Denmark, find a pub with taps for miles and strike up a conversation about taste with the server.
"Kopenhagen" is a tourist made word, it's not correct english and not correct in danish either. The sound of ø is very rare in english, the closest english example is the word 'Worm'.
It's: København
Kopenhagen is the german name for København.
The danish are not in nyhavn in the summer its for the tourists like u
oh really? why is that?
@@GoTimeTravels becouse its expensive and to much tourists
It's funny most Danes think Copenhagen is cold, depressive and overpopulated. You should visit the small beautiful towns instead. Skagen, Møns Klint alot places that are different. København is just a big city you can find in most countries
Going where every blogger before you has gone is not exploring....
So tourists shouldn’t visit these places? Is that what you’re saying?
We enjoyed the places we visited, why should you decided where tourists go in Copenhagen?
@@GoTimeTravels Didnt say you shouldnt go, didnt say you couldnt enjoy... just stated that its not exploring
@@GoTimeTravels I am not saying what anyone should or could do... just saying it isnt exploring when you follow the trail of others..
Why should Danes care about how you pronounce Copenhagen when it is København to us? 😛
Waoo thanks for sharing your adventure.
thanks so much for watching 🙂
