Forget the HP... Holy Mother of God 794 tq @ 2k. All Tires run in fear... along with frames, drive shafts, and rear ends. WOW.
Holy shii the fear is real
Bolt this sucker onto the stock 4L65E in your truck - and have fun all the way to the end of the block! Then go back, install a new tranny, and do it all again! :D
Dodge Demon territory right there
The LSA is the perfect engine for a restomod G-Body.
Used in many 70s, 80s and 90s Holden's in Australia too
Take an old head bolt and cut a couple vertical grooves with a cutoff wheel and clean it up with a file, saves you a few bucks on buying a tap for cleaning the head bolt holes
Interesting. That's an interesting way to do it. Saves you buying a set of taps which for good ones are not exactly inexpensive.
Depends on where you are and where you get it from. If you buy a lot of cutters taps are inexpensive especially if you are just chasing threads.
I have been doing that for 15 years old a old farmer on my road growing up taught me and showed me how and also if you have a bearing race on a spindle or something where the race fits lose you can use a prick punch and hammer and punch the surface and the steel will rise up and mushroom and some time you can just do that to save a couple bucks if it is hard to find or get parts but I don't recommend it I lwas blessed to grow up with a bunch of old timers who were extremely smart with mechanics
He put new head studs in anyway, so whether he cleaned it out or not was irrelevant. If he was using headbolts, it would have been more relevant.
@@andoletube cleaning the threads on any head bolt or main cap bolt is always good practice and he was just explaining how to make a thread chaser from a old head bolt to chase the threads in the block for the new hardware without going and buying a new tap
Considering that the torque peak was at 2500, and didnt go below 700 until 6k, you could use this as an engine for a truck and it would do amazing.
My thoughts exactly. This would make a great truck engine.
And talk about a smooth torque curve too, you really wouldn’t need that much gearing at all
It's an engine GM designed for marine applications.
I can’t believe you went through this entire build without telling us how much boost it made. 🤷🏻♂️
Great build though, love it!
To anyone who says pedestal rockers can't handle stud mount power levels...this video says it all. How much cam and spring pressure is a different story though.
I've been watching these engine builds for a long time but this one is my favorite. *drool, drool*
I am a Chevy guy but a big block Ford or old school Hemi gets me excited. Chevys are just cheaper and easier to get stupid power out of.
Very glad to see you use Speartech wiring and fuel / air control components. This is who I used for my build, beautiful high quality stuff.
If you ever find yourselves looking to donate this type LSA, I have a police officer son who’s 2013 Zl1 🤮 two rods with only 16,000 miles on it. Shame, it’s a beautiful car that still looks new. Oh well GREAT videos, I’ve learned a lot from you guys. 😎
Cant wait doing a 427 texas speed block with my lsa head and ported blower gonna be a great summer😎😈
Mike is one of the best hosts on any of these shows.
Now that's bad ass, only you guys could pull that one off
Exactly!!
Anyone see that inner belt WOW flopping around hard!
Pat must have the most incredible upper body strength on earth!
He popped in that ARP balancer bolt and 'torqued it' with no effort at all! To 225-240 ft-lbs. Cough. ;)
Bodyweight and leverage. Give me a long enough lever and I can move the world.
Oh I'll give ya my lever.
@@yohoNbottleofRum that's a nice offer but I'm going to pass.
@@bmstylee Fair enough pal.
Can we see the needle move too? I don’t watch for high fives.
these guys live the life!!
I agree. If this old man could do it over I'd work in an engine building shop like this!
@@nasedo3129 This is a TV reality show posing as an engine shop.It is not like this in the real world
@@robholmes2129 I know all about the real world, I spent over 28 years as a neighborhood grease monkey in a gas station, working on old rusted out cars with engines caked in grease and oil. That's why this shop looks like heaven to me!
Oh Sounds soo good! Would love to do something like this to my VF Commodore
Excellent vid, really enjoyed!!!!!!!
There artest doing art out there and there are power nation doing some serious magic!
Actually the intake gaskets are held in place with pop rivets. BIG QUESTION IS , HOW MUCH IS THIS BUILD GOING TO COST ME ?
Great car choice, and a great project, nice broad power band. Would be nice to own that thing when its completed.
Well done fellas! Great video
Thats a torque monster right there boi.
Now that's a big alligator!!!
I've been waiting on this video
That thing is a tyre roasting beast!
I want this engine in my 2017 SS SPORT Sedan, 6 MT
This would be SO much fun !
That torque curv tho! Would have worked great in theat gray Jeep I saw in the back.
I like this show and this episode is several years old. Too bad I don't have access to the most recent episodes.
BTW some nut case wants to build an all ball bearing steel engine just to see what happens... Hopefully you guys get your hands on it.
A pair I respect!
Overall good episode. Would have been killer with a 2650 and a ZL1 lid instead of the less efficient CTSV lid.
With a 2650/ZL1 lid on pump this engine would probably have crested 900hp on 93 “on accident” lol
For sure I gained 160 wheel going from stock blower to Kong2650
GM should watch this and drop it into a TRX or Raptor R competitor lol. That torque curve would be amazing in something like that.
If Mike Galley goes , you know oh ( BEEP ) America !
UP
Blown 427 with 1 3/4 headers…. Makes sense
I would say with 1 7/8 headers it would pickup some all across the borad
Might even get away with 2 inch pipe into 3.5 collectors
Spend all that money to cheap out on the headers?? 1 of those FTW moments
Tens of thousands of people have done it. I would have gone 2” if available.
The use of 1 3/4 headers maybe due to the clearance or fitment into the vehicle, as 10-15hp is available with larger 1 7/8 primaries as we have seen with Richard H videos
Useing 4 1/8 stroke does it pull the piston out of bottom of the bore creating the skirt thrust area to wear
Ok. Not to nitpick but what good is a check engine light when it's attached to the obd plug? I'm not looking at my diagnostic port while driving.
Would love to have that engine in my 1998 trans am
Nice ...👊🏻
Single plane for efi. Dual plane for carburetors used on the street.
All that power on 93, I would imagine on E85 it would be maybe 840 or more, since everyone that is drag racing is using that or even going to methanol.
850 easily
Yeah easily doable on 93. Got a 700whp sbe turbo 6.0 daily in the driveway.
They went WAY overkill for 800hp
@@williamhare9104 OVERKILL LOL my Zl1 had a little over 1000hp and 900ft of torque and not even close to overkill
@@JoeMama-yl1ow I mean they over built the short block for that much power
How many lbs of boost were you seeing with this pulley combo?
What brand battery powered tool is being used for fastening bolts in quick fashion before the necessary final torque down? Just sold all my Porter and Cable stuff so I can look into Milwaukee tool upgrades for my garage.
They use Matco for the tools. Milwaukee makes expensive stuff but you get what you pay for. My big impact with 2 batteries was $450 but man it's a beast. I did brakes on my Silverado and if not for it there was no way I was getting the pad bracket off. Whatever GM put on from the factory was tough. For general work like drilling holes or running screws into plywood my Ryobi works just fine.
ULTIMATE HORSEPOWER!
No break-in, with break-in oil?
That is the coolest
good job
I heard people say they are about at the limit of what the lsa is supposed to spin without a dinner plate for lower pully
Yeah they are at the limit of the blowers efficiency.
Love the idea of making Grandma's car into a Beast of a sleeper !!! I can already see may unsuspecting car guys jaws drop when they get smoked by grandma's 4 door mercury Capri !!!
Capri was a 2 Dr fox body....by mercury
that a nice motor!!
82 degrees after all That WOW
How often should the lifter trays be changed on this engine?
Ahhahaha love the car choice
I might have missed a comment about this but was there any reason you didn't mention reinforcing the supercharger "brick" or was that just an oversite? Or did you just not do it?
That thing could use a little bigger camshaft, it's almost begging for it
I've noticed strokers need 8-10* more cam compared to stock size engine to keep rpm range the same.
@@bowhite1293 well think about it, if you put a stock ls3 376 cubic inchs camshaft in a 4.8 293 cubic inchs, the 293 sounds mean, but it's a stock ls3, so yeah a 427 would need a bigger cam then a stock motor
Correct. I was giving an actual degree amount of duration.
@@bowhite1293 I'm kinda old school in this way, as I look how the torque carries a d where the horse power is at in the rpm range, I'm with you, I say if there is proper ptv I could see this thing going another 10 to 12 degrees of intake, and 12 to 14 on the exhaust
A 231/248 cam is in it for this build.
Problem with going up a lot in cam is this build is already taxing the factory blower pretty good. A 1.9l blower on a 7.0 engine lol
Man I would like to buy one of these motors. Any info or help. Thank you guys
I really Like Ed's satin black paint job he had installed on his head...ain't he neat ?
I wonder can you guys , Program The Computer Module before our eyes I always wonder can you guys do That ?
What about the BDC piston rock from using stock sleeves with a stroker crank.
They’re not going to talk about that lol… when he said 4 and a 8th (4.125”) stroke I spit out my Gatorade and almost hit my phone lol
Crazy
Hey I'd like to see more of work for Chevrolet Chevrolet 4x4 truck engines!! And I love yawls content very informative! Thank you for sharing!
So what was the PPM and co2 numbers 4 gas
I’m not a big engine guy at all, but what is the difference between this 427 and the Texas Speed 427 that Cleetus runs? I know his Elco is a Dart Block but Ruby and Leroy aren’t.
Should have put the magenson 2.3lt on it, then you will see so much charge cold air going in, instead of the 82 degrees temp, plus they dont show the temps at the manifold, which the LSA supercharger is not really efficient at all compared to the magenson IMO ? Plus they had a fan blowing at the intercooler heat exchanger and still had 82 degree hi temps?
Cold air going into the combusting chamber is the key to all hp figures and the right fuel as well and proper flow in the head sure, but even stock LS7 heads will be just as good, it depends what your going to use the engine for street / drags or a every day driven car, would like to see the engine put in the Cadillac and just see what she does in the 1/4 with stock running gear ie: auto and diff gears, my guess would be around 10's if that?
Exhaust port flow numbers?
Now you guys need to stick it in something and do some burn outs!
I have the 1980 vett , the slowest model off the corvette factory. 70 mph speed odometer on the instrument dashboard. A 350 motor & a muncie for speed transmission. I need you guys to hook up my ride.
How much does this cost? I want the exact build done to my 13 V
Y'all should do something with the Ford barra engines from Australia, they're a little hard to find in the states but they make dumb power
How much does all those sweet parts cost all together ?
You didn't show the gasket for the headers
You guys should do a 5.4l 3v triton motor hot rod build to show the work arounds to bullet proof and super up the engine. It is the most disliked out of the Triton because of the 3v heads.
I just want to know one thing...
How much to build this exact engine setup for my truck?
North of $18k
@@lop8828 That's really not bad. Throw my 6-speed behind it and I'm straight!!!
30k minimum
18 might get you the short block
With a ZL1 lid and E85 this thing would have made 850-875 easily. Insane
How many pens does one pocket hold?
Amish Mike needs to re-examine that air gap manifold & his definition of it
Could i get the same school to do my heads
GOING IN A 93 CAPRICE 😁😁😁 can we say SUPERB CHOICE?!?!?.....ya
Great build. Wonder why they didn't paint it like usual?
Iron blocks are mostly painted to prevent rust. (It's just an added benefit that it looks cool) since this engine is all aluminum it doesn't really need to be painted.
@@thomasgoddard5503 You're right. I just like the painted look over raw aluminum casting. Would be interesting to see a build with all the aluminum media blasted.
I really enjoy your videos. Very entertaining and informative. I do have a question that hopefully you or some other person out there can answer. What do you mean by a "stroker" engine??
Simply means increasing the stroke length of the engine.
@Powernation Printable parts list please
*It requires money to make money this is the best secret I have ever heard we don’t make money we make multiple money.*
Interesting. I have a lump sum doing absolutely nothing at all in my bank account, I wanna get something started with it, any reasonable ideal?
There are platform where you can invest and they trade your money. Then pay you profit either weekly or monthly. That's investing.
Wow I know Mr Lawrence Tom . I met him at a conference in carlifornia 2019 where he introduced us his business strategy, he helped me cover my student loans
➕①⑧④③③②⑥②④⑥①🇺🇲
Been reading through the comments and when he mentioned Mr Lawrence Tom. Schwab I know he was right! He has been my investment manager for long and I'm happy with his services
That dowel sure didn't look long enough to keep that balancer pinned. I guess I didn't pay attention unless when Pat tightened the crank bolt the tensioner slid on another inch or so.
The depth to a degree doesn't matter as the force is rotational. But i sorta see what you mean
My challenge get your hands on a Ford barra engine that as the record for bhp at the wheel 2200 Australian made
What was the pistons size
Great choice on the Caprice!! I would kill to have that motor with an 8 speed in a Roadmaster wagon. Do an E85 tune and I bet it'd break 1000. 😆
what make max boost?
Would’ve been cool if y’all mixed some hot gas and raised the timing
How much would it cost to build that exact motor?
10k plus
Upgrading the bricks in the blower would make even more..jokers bricks for this blower would of set it off
installing a broken blower? check out 6:33
Yikes. That's a big crack in the case.
Couple of Ebay turbos could of made a 1000 hp for 2000 bucks on a junk yard 5.3 lol!
Nothing wrong if you’re poor. It’s cool.
Yeah but it won't live long. This LSA will take that power for a long time.
Isnt the engine also found the C6 ZR1 corvette?
That is an LS9. Similar engine design but comes with a bigger blower. 2300 Blower.
Woah
Did he say 1 3/4" primaries?
Need 1 7/8 headers
That would make a few diesel powered trucks cry.
Put a Kong 2650 on that bad boy ! 😉
Ooo also.
Can that CTS-V lid.
Get a ZL-1 lid.
How much?
I can't imagine what that motor would do with a TVS 2650 blower and on ethanol
