I love how giddy Pat always gets when they’re working the dyno. Dude’s lovin life.
Mans living his purpose.
Pat Fenis a lot happens behind the scenes though. Can’t assume its the same way as they show on cam. Not to mention they have a nice setup to start with.
thats the most exciting part about building an engine! i dont blame him
The man is single
@@illestk24civic he is married to a drag racing column writer
I could use this engine for sure, my 12 year old daughter ask me how can China build a hospital in a few days and its taking me a decade and counting to build a car, 😥.
Damn got em
teach her about the evils of communism and slave labor.
Tell her it isn’t a real hospital
@Pedro Ruiz slavery gets shit done i mean look at the pyramids
@toreythomas1 lol not surprised 😆
“We spend some time in the cell!” “Here I come!” “I’m ready!” 😂😂
James loves power coating so much he decided to powder coat his lungs as well!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was hoping someone caught that too ha
Lol
My father and I picked out a Z71 Silverado brand new in 1999. He and I worked for 10+ years side by side in that truck every day, every family vacation was taken in it, and tons of awesome adventures.
My father passed away, but I still drive it every day to and from work. Several things I refuse to change on it just because it reminds me of him. Nearly 21 years and almost 300k miles have been done with either my dad or myself at the wheel. A new engine will be in it's future, as I will never live a day without that truck in my life. This engine would be awesome to make sure it keeps going for many more years.
Truck engine! My 1990 GMC, 4x4 is clean. I'm the original owner. I take care frequent maintenance. It's a 5.7 350, (stock) with 302K miles. I've learned a lot. Thanks.
Of all the builds you have done, this is probably my favorite. A clean, quality build. Great component choices at every step. Every car should have an engine this good.
Tell her about all the Chinese working 24/7 and no time to raise there children and then be discarded there after so there communistic gov can hurry up and slave the next generation.
Shit.. I’ve been watching you guys since you were on. I remember when the first car repair show “shade tree mechanic” back in the 90’s. They just did repair back then. Shows about this subject is what it’s grown into.
I used to love shade tree mechanic...Sam memolo and I forgot the other dudes name...
Dave Bowman
I would be honored to have such a power plant in my sons 86 IROC. I have enjoyed and used the info you bestow. Been watching Pat for years. Big fan. The engine would be super nice to have. But the real treat is watching Pat over the years.
I would drop this into my 2002 Trans Am!
This is the perfect motor for my 1978 Jeep Cherokee Chief. Great build.
I've watched many of your videos, all well produced, informative and comprehensive. Well done guys. From Australia.
I've never heard of an LS engine before, this episode should be interesting.
You are not serious are you? If that’s true what rock did you live under for 40 years?
You must have been living under a rock for 20 years
@@torqueandbeanssauce well it was a heavy rock
Seems like peoples sarcasm detectors are malfunctioning.
Definitely a rock
Great show for your Chevy fans. Gotta love those LS engines
Love the way this engine looks. Finish is top notch.
Love this show. Trucks, power nation, all of the sunday morning car shows are great. Also a 5.3 owner
Love your builds! I could certainly use an engine like this.
This is probably more than a grand in bolts, holy cow.
My 2009 Silverado would sure run great with this engine!
This really needs to go into my shop truck 70 Chevy Short bed C-10. Mine has 3 dead cylinders from the cam going flat. I have been scared to try the LS I'm after all a carb guy and wiring isn't my thing. You made this look easy. Win or no this is still a great show.......I'm 53 and have been a fan forever. Keep up the good work.
I applaud Pat for showing his mettle, in using the 598 BBF Kaase engine in this segment. Its the same BBF that out paced Pats 632 BBC on the Dyno, to Pats dismay. Both are total beasts and I'd take either one.
these build videos are the best. now, this is some good binge watching !
This would be the best job ever you get to build engines and hear them run so cool
This engine would be perfect for my family owned 1973 Camaro, it has a restomod look.
Perfect for my 99 black Z-71 Silverado you guys are awesome.
This would go nicely in my 72 Monte Carlo. I daily drive the old girl so the chance for some extra power and reliability cannot be missed even if the odds are low. Can’t hurt to try. Good luck to everyone!!
I Love it, It really would look good in my 1990 GMC SWB 2 door Sierra. I just picked it up this year & Last week My wife and I just Dropped the Front and Rear Suspension, Now we are just starting on the body, Love your Video's, And Stay Safe.
sold I am going to copy this for my 1995 suburbin love the motor I have two of them to pick on thank you so much for sharing
Terry
Great knowledge about using older engines 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Engine Looks Great!!....And Sounds Better, Strong!!!
I saw a roll of paper towels in the shop. Did you guys just forget to tell us how great they are and where we can buy them?
How do you think shows like this stay on the air? That advertising money is their main source of income.
Ive got a tuned 5.3 in my 2000 silverado pushing almost 400 horses I love it gonna add a few more add ons one day 😉
I'd love to swap this for the factory 5.3 LM7 in my 03 Sierra, my first vehicle. It's been through so much memories and experiences
Dibs on that old 5.3
Honestly, all you need to do is a cam, intake manifold, and long tubes will give you a lot of fun.
@@bri-manhunter2654 do these mods and a mild street good gas tune....you will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Same reliability!
Worth a shot. 275000 miles on my current 5.3. (99 Silverado Z71 1500)
Just enter the Giveaway. My 88 iron could really benefit from the 5.3l It has set for 10 years with 7,633 org miles. Since I had spine surgery and unable to work on it right now. Love watching power nation.
This show is the bees knees I'm about to turbo my vortec and alot of the tips and tricks help n go a long way
Checkout Richard Holden on CZcams!!!
@@bri-manhunter2654 I second this....hes the guru.
Would love to drop this into my 72 C10 shorty.....wicked job guys
this is my first time watching your videos and I enjoyed every moment of it seeing how you guys are putting these engines together I have had quite a few Tahoes over the years ranging from a 99 to a 2004 Chevy Tahoe and now I have my first truck what is a 2005 Chevy Avalanche I would love to take that engine and drop it off into my truck I just wished I had the money if my wife was still here with me it wouldn't be a problem she had Ms in cancer and I am a cancer survivor as well after watching this show you guys are giving me to wishes fixing up my truck and racing a Dodge or a Ford 🤔😄 Lol hahaha
very nice guys ......great work love those LS engines
My favorite CZcams channel always great film and commentary and all that HP thanks
Definitely 💯 percent perfectly done by these gentlemen who i would be flattered to own their engine
That is one badass small block! I really really need that engine!😁😁😁😁🙏🙏
This engine is absolutely amazing, i doing my first build and it’s no where near this pretty. I would have loved to win this motor.
Waiting to see you guy's set the crank to cam timing on one of these builds.
I got the 07 nbs lh6 in my truck. I like the flex version of it but it had issues. This one is much simpler. Super easy to work on. I hate trying to find round coil packs haha. I'm going to be doing the ls7 conversion here soon with stage 1 thumper cam. I got a tuner, full custom 2.5 inch 304 dual exhaust. With a dual in and out cherry bomb extreme. I'm gonna a be buffing up the trans woth a hd sunshell and stronger gears and a chromoly drive shaft.. I daily drive it. I haven't done the intake yet but this motor has a good intake already. It has the 243 stamped heads not the 799s like I thought it did. I disabled the afm but need to actually get rid of it.
Nice build, however I prefer simple. 1976 Nova SS, LT1 (1970) Holley 750 double feed, double pump, Edelbrock intake, Hooker Headers, TH400, 12 bolt (4:10). I can work on it in my garage, don't need a qazillion $$ in tools. The only "HI TECH" thing I own is a timing light. I have owned this car for 40 years, and it's been a rock solid build. Scared a few passengers as well. : )
Hi I've had 3 5.3 Chevy trucks I've worked them hard and they come through . I bought a 69 Corvette convertible for retirement my plan has been to put a 5.3 in the vette to make it cruise and have enough power and be efficient on fuel thank you Alan
That would be so sweet in my 55.5 Chevy Panel Truck, or my 2000 Chevy Silverado, or my Daily Driver 2011 Silverado, or maybe the S10. So many choices.
"Sorry this campaign is not available at your location" Well guess im back to saving money and eating noodles then.
Let me guess you also live in Canada 😂
@@edwinrose5240 Nope other side of the pond in Sweden 😂
No point in me trying to enter in that case 😢
Just get a VPN, change your server to one in the US, and enjoy the show. Hope this helps!
@@SamSheepDoq He's talking about entering to win the motor.
I've been your fan my whole life.. I'm 31 now
Yeah back in high school on spike TV!
I remember when they was on spike to!!!!
Hole life
Every Sunday was waited for
I used to get up at like 6am on sundays to watch spike tv. I live in Alaska so my view times is a bit early lol
As a retired senior citizen on a fixed income I can't afford to buy an engine and fix it up. This would help on my next project that will probably go to me 19 year old grandson.
I would take this setup and put it right into my 06 Silverado. Would love it just the way it is.
My 01 Tacoma wouldn’t know what to do with that in it! Already started the swap🙏🏻💪🏼
That would be a pretty dope swap tbh
0
Yea I'll use that in my Silverado for along time 👍👍👍👍👍
Been watching since "trucks" that field bronco build is one of my all time faves that and the 8 lug axel swap ian did on the blazer
This engine is perfect for a 1965 Chevy stepside pickup
I've got a 1980 Monte Carlo that engine would be nice in. It's a project I got for me and my son to build.
Im actually so thankful for the LS lifter trays. Ive made a lot of money doing 2 or 3 hour cam swaps for customers and friends over the years. I think the Hardest was a 4th gen camaro. Only because half the engine is under the firewall. The c5 and c6 corvettes were easier than the 4th gen camaros.
Actually the worst was the LS4 in the pontiac grand prix. Only ever did one of those.
When Pat starts pushing that throttle lever forward on the dyno he has this look like my dad when he comes home and finds out his boys have been little turds and is starting to take his belt off for you know what! And yes, he means business! When Mom said just wait till your father gets home she meant it! 🤣
Wow!!! That is really nice I had to watch this twice
When I was starting to work on my own car back in the 1960s, my first few cars were made in the 1950s. They were simple and you didn't need specialized tools. Gas was cheap and so were the cars. I didn't pay more than $100 for a car until I was 18. I didn't know a lot about auto mechanics back then, Now cars are computerized and sensitive, and they cost a lot more, even for the 'beaters'. They aren't as much fun to tinker with.
“Murdered Out” LOL a new phrase enters our language , just cover everything with black rattle can paint !
I don’t even know what car I would throw this in. I think it would fit GREAT in my 58 Chevy 3100 🤘🏾
Should've fed her some more timing these engine's love it!
My 86 foxbody has that motors name written all over it, awesome build !
You too, Jim Bob? More heretics here than you can shake a stick at! Phil in TX
Phil Auten yeahhh it’s pretty bad, but ford doesn’t have any strong and basically built old motors you can pull from wrecking yards and throw boost at without much trouble, that and the ls is just so simple and easy to swap into anything and make great power, and if it grenades there’s plenty more to pick for another $270. No brand loyalty, I’m just a hot rodder I guess.
I would love nothing more to win this engine right now. Ive been looking at ls engines and for what i want and the parts is way out of my budget.
This engine has basically almost everything that i would need for my boosted/nitrous application in my 1979 Chevy C10 Step Side project or swap it into my daily driver 2010 V6 3.6L LT Camaro and let it be naturally aspirated.
My favorite video is seeing the small block take all that nitrous. :)
I would love to see them build the old 499 cubic inch big block that used to come in the old Chevy gas HD trucks and 3/4 ton suburbans. Great engines.
496 ci/8.1L and are not made for higher hp. Expensive as hell to build and would never compete dollar for dollar with an LS. Ive had both.
That's a mean one for my S-10! :D
One is these engines in my 13year old Gmc 1500 (2008) would be super cool.
I’d love to put this in my wife’s 2001 Silverado and I’d love the Jeep 4.0L you guys build for my ZJ
Been watching your guys show for a long time.. I have two different toyotas that I would love to swap that into.. an 88 toyota, standard, nothing fancy and a 92 toyota factory 1 ton dually that would be a little beast with some fat tires... thank you guys for the shows
good looking engine with very good power !
I need this to get my 71 c10 running all it needs is the engine
get a big block chevy for the c10, you dont want a 5.3 in it
Make sure Pat doesn't drop a pen in MY engine. 😁👍
🤣🤣🤣
@Ed Only if it is an ARP pen!
I see a lot of comments about this, did he actually do that on an engine?
I think this would go great in my Geo Metro
Perfect for my '12 Silverado!
It's a gen 3....won't work unless you get a 58x to 24x converter box...
That would make a nice powerhouse for my 68 el camino off roader build
I think I just found my new favourite channel
Lot's of freedom right there!!!
You can tell it just kills Pat to say "murdered out"...LOL
Would look absolutely thumbs up in my 58’ DelRay!!😎👍👍
would sure be nice with a 4l80e in my 05 mustang. Im already planning to build the same stock 5.3 nitrous yall did but on boost
Wow this engine crazy
Word of the day: Clean
That is a beautiful motor.
Awesome. Thats fuel injection baby. Proper LS guys. Thank you.
this is the best youtube channel out there
This engine would make a great father son project for my son and I... I love these L.S. engines and ARP!!! Keep up the good work fellas!
This would be perfect for my 93' GMC C1500!
I just went and bought a bunch of interior parts and body panels from a parts truck today!
Currently running the stock 4.3, so this would be wild!
Nice job on that motor
I would love to have such an awesome opportunity for showing off their new motor and let everyone know that they have put a incredible engine that could possibly be mine by winning this dynamic motor 😀 😉 V8 LS 5.3liter
I've got a 92 S-10 that this would go good in. Only had 120k miles on it when wrecked it in 07. Still sitting in storage waiting to get fixed.
My 1985 Chevy pickup would love having this LS engine .
That engine would work great in my 1961 Jeep CJ5.
Wow this engine is awesome. We have a 1992 BMW e36 that we would like to put it in.
It would make the perfect swap into a G-Body i am getting.
The motor look good in my 94 K1500 engine swap.. 👌💪👍
Great engine advice
I’d love this engine so I can LS swap my 1980 lifted Chevy K10 Silverado.
Mike shimmed the pump (.00.15" which is probably the most common spec, even though I was also taught to shim the LS crank driven pumps despite the fact that the service manuals don't mention anything about shimming them...) but he didn't align the front & rear covers to the oil pan...
Great build love the video.
