Why do these countries dislike each other?

- ▶ In this video I explore a few international relationships marked by tension and dislike between various countries. I start with Venezuela's claim on Guyana's territory - Esequibo - following with the strained relations between Poland and Belarus due to their opposing sides of an external conflict. Saudi Arabia and Iran, the United States's rivalry with Russia, and China, and what each of those involve. Next I delve into the lingering grievances between Chile, Bolivia, and Peru since the War of the Pacific which caused Bolivia's landlocked status, as well as the tensions between Morocco and Algeria. Finishing with the discord between Myanmar and Bangladesh, and the historical animosity between Turkey and Armenia.

*Are there any other countries that dislike each other in particular?*
misleading, Belarusians and Poles like each other . even semi - satrap Luka do grey deals with Polish Government, Moscow empire wants us hate each other , but it won´t work.
I'm pretty sure that bhutan and Nepal historically had stuff and in the modern day Denmark and Sweden still compete over children's games media etc
Yes. You forgot some major ones.

Japan🇯🇵 & South Korea🇰🇷

Countries that still like or love each in 2024.
You believe in these things????
hungary and poland
The commonwealth
The nordics
Greece and Cyprus. Basically the same country. Same with Italy, San Marino and the Vatican.
I don't think that Poland dislikes Belarus. Polish and Belarusian people certainly don't dislike each other (unless you are a conservative nationalist who still lives in 1920). Poland just very much dislikes Lukashenko dictatorship and won't really deal with it as a principle of not talking to dictators
Definitely! Most of these are state-level only
I'm from Belarus. Poland is my second favorite country after Ukraine.
Funny thing, our conservative and nationalists are very pro-Polish and anti-Russian. Ordinary people are the opposite
@@General.Knowledge I would say then that the real conflict is between Russia and Poland not with Belarus >P
He said in the videos introduction that he isn’t referring to the people of these countries but their governments
Balkans: grabs popcorn! 🍿
Finaly left out from this list 😅🤔
That will be to easy.
Poland, as a distinct country, was under Soviet Union sphere of influence.
Belarus, on the other hand, was part of the Soviet Union (USSR) and part of Russia before that as a region.
Belarus along with Ukraine was a founding republic of the USSR.
@@TheManinBlack9054 along with the other former republics
Belarus and Ukraine being Russia. Always has, always be Russian terrotory.
i will pop my champange to this comment when russia ceases to be 😊@@timmy-wj2hc
@timmy
Russia was a separate republic within the USSR. Belarus and Ukraine were not part of Russia.
I like your new intro, watch out for those cannonballs!
Hope we can all find peace one day 🙏
Poland and Belarus: you omitted that in Belarus there is a regionally huge Polish minority, which was usually opressed by the authorities of "the last dictatoriship in Europe". Hence Poland supported democratic oposition in Belarus.
Russia has a way more conflicts: probably with every neighbouring country and some they don't border (as Moldova).
I didn't know about the Polish minority! Are they near the border region?
@@General.Knowledge Yup. Mostly around the cities of Grodno (Hrodna) and Brest Litovsk.
The territory of Poland has moved around several times over the centuries, so much of the ethnic population will be shared between the neighbouring countries.
@General.Knowledge did a video which included this topic.
Belarusian people oppressed no less
@@General.Knowledge After WW2 border changes not all people migrated: many Poles from Grodno (quite big city just east of the border) in Belarus and Vilnus in Lithuania because stayed and formed locally even a majority. In Belarus there were always clashes with Belarusian regime since Poles wanted their national organisations, cultural and educational institutions and were mostly catholic so wanted to restored churches nationalised during Soviet era. Also small Belarussian minority lives in Poland in few counties near the border.
Today this situation is also worsened by Lukashenko's persecutions and political inprisonment of Belarussians (also Poles), Belarussian involvement in Russian invasion of Ukraine and their "hybrid attack" by sending migrants from Africa/Asia to polish border and provoking polish bordrr guards/army.
I think title of today’s video is a bit misleading. I find it difficult to comment on all countries mentioned in the video, but can put my two cents in and comment on Belarus vs Poland. It’s not true people in Poland dislike Belarussians - colleagues of mine work together with folks who left Belarus after February 24, 2022. They get on very well together, as the cultural differences between our nations are almost non-existent. However, it’s true we do not like Lukashenko’s regime, as we consider him as puppet of muscovy.
He said the governments of the countries, not the people
I definitely agree! I mentioned at the start of the video that these are mostly state/government-level issues, not between the people.

thanks for pointing out the BD-MY, currently the situation is dire than ever been in last few years, with Bangladesh preparing for any potential border clash, also the recent MY personal fleeing To BD and such
As a Pole who was born and lived near the Belarus border for years I deeply disagree with the claim that our nations dislike each other. Both Poland and Belarus are victims of Soviet imperialism. The claim that there is any kind of rivalry or dislike is falling neatly into the Russian propaganda aimed at separating our countries and keeping Belarus in the Russian sphere of influence.
It's all true but Belarus is totally depend on Russia, this fact is most important for us from the military point of view. Belarusian dependence on Russia create serious geopolitical threat to Poland and Baltic States. Ordinary citizens are completely different topic.
@@adamjankowski1703 If the video spoke about Russia, and mention that it also influences Belarus against Poland, then I could potentially agree. But it didn't.
I first read the comments and then watched video, BTW 100% agree with your comment

another one that would've been interesting to look into would be between China and Taiwan
It’s one of the most well-known nowadays.
Although that isn’t such a strong point given USA vs Russia and USA vs China was brought up in this video 😅
North and South Korea.
But its about « countries » that dislike each other and Taiwan is not a recognized country
Taiwan is slowly becoming a U.S. puppet state and getting intentionally pushed into a U.S. proxy war by the U.S. just like “Isreal” and Ukraine
Taiwan not a recognised country it’s official name is Chinese Taipei
What about Turkey and Greece? That one's been going on for centuries
That’s too much of a classic
Although that isn’t such a strong point given USA vs Russia and USA vs China was brought up in this video 😅
I mentioned it in a previous video!
Turkey and Greece have eased tensions though it's hard to see how long it can last when the Aegean Sea disputes and Cyprus dispute continue without any compromise.
Other rivalries
Greece-Turkey
Argentina-UK
ROC-China
Ukraine-Belarus
Georgia-Russia
Israel-Palestine
Denmark-Syria
+Armenia-Azerbaijan

What’s wrong with Ukraine-Belarus? Before war they had good relationships and even now there’s no rivalry
Nah, Ukraine hates Russia MUCH more than Belarus. Ukrainians mostly hate only Lukashenko
Denmark-Syria? Is that because of the whole immigrant thing or war there was a massive Danish-Syrian hyperwar I was never taught about?
Are you Gojo Satoru because you're the Strongest, or are you the Strongest because you're Gojo Satoru?

India and pakistan is quite a big one, surprised they didn't include it
Very interesting video.
We actually didn’t hate Russia up until the annexation of Crimea. We considered them allies after the Cold War up until then.
Also, it wasn’t just mass killings. It was the first genocide of the 20th century against which all others are measured.

As a Polish, I feel obligated to straighten this. Poland does not have any territorial dispute with Belarus and no other. And we really like Belarussian people including refugees. I can say more. We really respect especially those who tried to oppose their Lukashenka regime. We understand Belarussians because we share similar pasts, problems with Russia, communism, and so on. We were just a little more lucky than Belarus during the last 30 years. There is only one thing we hate about Belarus: the stupid "potato dictator" and his sidekick government. And I believe many, if not most Belarussians share this feeling with us ;)
+1 agree
"many, if not most Belarussians share"
Many share indeed

About a hundred years ago, west Belarus was east Poland.
We can play this game together: podlasie and belastok were Belarusian.
As a chilean we currently don't have many issues with Perú and Bolivia overall, we are mostly cool with Peru other than some small stuff and we just kinda make fun of Bolivia's politicians for the sea dispute but not much More than that, if there Is a country that Is currently widely hated here Is probably Venezuela.
Because of the many Venezuelan Refugees and Migrants now living in Chile?
Ethiopia vs Egypt could become a very real conflict this century.
Poland doesn’t dislike Belarus. Poland dislikes what Łukaszenka did to Belarusian people in 2020 and the fact that he participated with Putin in hybrid war against Poland and Baltic States. We also despise the fact that he has been helping Putler to attack Ukraine.

So what about Ireland & the UK, Israel & Palestine, or Japan & South Korea?
Ireland and UK have very good relations.
@@chesterdonnelly1212 Then why do the people from the 2 countries despise each other?
@@rabbidcrazy787 they don't. The only problems are with some of the people in Northern Ireland and some of their politicians. You need to understand Ireland and the UK are two sovereign nations. Northern Ireland is where the two countries overlap. People in Britain don't hate the Irish and the Irish don't hate the British. It is the people in Northern Ireland that struggle to get along.
@@chesterdonnelly1212 I've been seeing many Irish people on CZcams celebrate Elizabeth II's death. As for Japan & SK, many South Koreans still have a grudge against Japan over its WW2 atrocities & burned Japanese flags. Not to mention they got mad at their president for forgiving Japan & only wanting to look towards the future. Israel & Palestine are also absent from the video.

Absolutely every neighbor of Morocco despises them. They are expansionist and their immigrants abroad have a reputation that well… speaks volumes.
I would rather say Poland-Russia. Polish-Belarussian conflict/rivalry compared to Russo-Polish is like comparing drinking ice tea and eating glass.
Nicaragua vs Colombia (borders)
North Korea vs Colombia (military support to south Korea)
Haití vs Colombia (assesinated president)
Perhaps, if not for the events of 2020, Poland and Belarus would have had much better relations, since Poland openly supported people who wanted to arrange the nineties in Belarus (they wanted to arrange privatization in the same way as it was in Ukraine, regionally and distribute shares entirely, while Belarus often retained a controlling stake shares of enterprises).
Romania and Hungary, Czech Republic and Hungary, Serbia and Hungary. The hatred is constantly being refreshed by hungarian land claims and toxic minorities within the other countries

Wat is this thumbnail? I'm from Poland and I feel Belorusians are our brothers. I'm slightly offended by marking us as rivals. We have quite some migrants from Belarus and they are cool people. There's less cultural difference than with Ukrainians... Perhaps Belarus is closest culturally country to us.
You should have made us rivalizing with Russians instead. We are historical rivals since forever.
@Chase-AUSYeah, but if he picked russia that would work much better... I think it was mistake, also 50% of comments that I see say the same.
This grudge is completely out of scale compared to other countries in this video. We already have bigger tensions with Ukrainians. Not that I support these anti-Ukrainian narratives, I just feel that by observing people around me.
As a Belarusian, I love Poland and never met anyone who doesn't. Maybe only some 60 yo vatniks who watch tv daily
You forgot Argentina, that its society also deeply hates Chile for the Chileans' support for the British in the Falklands War (April 2, 1982) in response to the invasion that a resentful Argentina wanted to make on the Chileans ( December 22, 1978) after an international arbitration ruling ruled in favor of Chile regarding the dispute over the Beagle Channel and the adjacent territories (May 2, 1977 - Beagle Conflict)
