▶ In this video I talk about some of the attempted, and failed, country unions throughout history. Starting with Maphilindo: the attempted union of Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia after each of them got independence from their former colonial rulers. Followed by the temporary Iberian Union in which Spain ruled Portugal after Portugal's king died without an heir. We also take a look at the various attempts of uniting Iraq and Syria, namely under the rule of the Hashemite dynasty. The Republic of German Austria is also under focus here, as we look at the attempted union of Austria with the German-Speaking areas of Czechia. Next I demonstrate the attempted union of Hungary with Romania after World War 1, and wrap up this video pointing out a second attempt at uniting Bolivia and Peru.
