Imagine cleaning up the house to impress your Slavic mother but when she gets back the credit all goes to the Domivoi
At home if we ask who took a thing and no one answers we usually answer with, "Well the what, domovoi took it?"
I even remember as a child speaking to myself and asking domovoi to bring back whatever he took... i was a weird child fjdbdjdb
I would love to see more slav mithology content. Grat video you have gained a new subscriber so keep up the good work 😄
I agree
Leszy was not a trickster, he was over protective - he was known for publishing people for disrespecting his forest, but if people respect him he will let them take mushrooms and berrys.
And Domowój - (home unkle) was oldest ubożęcie (godlinkt) - soul of dead person in family, he was strongest but not alone, and other ubożęta sometimes calmed him or were calmed by him. And Bannik was also caled Łaźnik.
Publishing eh, must be one of those pen is mightier than the sword things.
Not to worry I'm just bust'n yer chops.
I feel like I'm the real domovoi in my house.
Treehouse Ape Feet haha
The Domovoi is almost identical to the Hob from Celtic lore. Both even accept cream as a gift for maintaining the house. I would love to see more coverage of both from you.
@@user-my6iv6ld5c Co?
@@user-my6iv6ld5c while some of the details may be different, the purpose is the same. Household spirits, both helpful and harmful, show up around the world in one form or another. It's a good example of how we are all more similar than we think if nothing else
@@Lunch_Meat Undoubtedly. Perhaps people have a need for certain entities in their fantasy. The same "Hole in the shape of a god" in the head of a person.
Leshy, Leshy! Look and see! In a bush or up a tree! Leshy, Leshy riddle rhyme! Can you solve them every time?
TheBlues32 What is, a brand new Honda Civic!
leshy is in Witcher 3
Please do more on Slavic mythology/folklore!
Love the videos on Slavic mythology, keep them coming! :)
Your channel is amazing! You do an incredible job of bringing us so many different gods and creatures from all nations and all times...I don't think there's another channel out there that even comes close to what you do. The research and effort you put into these videos for us is so thorough and always fascinating! I've always been big on reading, but I'm fast becoming addicted to your channel..you give so much! Thank you for all your hard work.. Don't ever stop!
This is excellent! Thanks so much, truly enjoyed!!!
I loved loved this one so much! Can you do more on like the fae, hidden people, Forrest or tree spirits like dryads?
Great video! I dunno how I missed it until now!
Im leaving milk and bread out for the domovi
hey man you do a really good job on these videos, ever consider diving into demonology?
can't wait for more content keep up the auuuuuusum work :)
I do actually plan on covering Demonology hopefully starting with Abaddon but there so much to cover not sure when I'll be able to fit it in.
no rush brotha I wish I could make videos cause id be good at commentating stuff like this :(
2nd that. Lesser key of Solomon would be nice.
Mythology & Fiction Explained
Yay! I love your videos! I enjoy all of them and it's great to know there's so much more to come!
I hope you are and will be well.
Thank you
Yeah I really love these mythologies and the info you provide. So many people when they do these kinda joke around, with them. I’m glad you’re not so overly consumed by modern media of these creatures
This is really cool video. I like how you explain things.😊😀
Love your vids
I almost believe in them; The Domovoi is cute :)
Elia Soriano how the fuck is that thing cute
I see beauty in a lot of things. One of them is definitely not your language. If you can't do the same, then I feel sorry for you. Frankly if you got nothing nice to say then shut the fuck up and get that stick out of your arse!
My apologies for swearing everyone.. I shouldn't be swearing, especially to kids.
That tiny little thing is cute as hell
@@alientitimilk9073 so im not the only one who find this creepy
i remember the leshen from the witcher 3
Slava/Слава... Slavic Power💪💪💪💪
Married a slavic woman, slavic and nordic power brother!
Lisun, according to popular beliefs, is a humanoid creature that living in the forest. "Lisun is like a man, only he has no shadow...", "He has a wife". Lisun (also Polisun) is the god of wolves, who taking care of their feeding; In addition "without him fair never can be, he sets price for everything". Hrinchenko's Dictionary
Lisun is the Ukrainian analog of the Russian Leshy.
I had an imaginary friend that looked kind of like the first one. His name was knocking broom . It was not bang on but , close. Amazing. Thank you. I adore your videos.
I do really like the Domovoi they have a weird but friendly appearance. glad you're enjoying the channel.
I love it.. and the name! It sounds like something straight out of a novel.
Thank you , Tony .
I have to admit seeing the video really made me "tingle " . It has really been quite difficult to accurately describe "knocking broom " to anyone. His appearance, voice. He was my imaginary friend only when I lived in a specific house. I moved when I was 7 years old. I have a vague dream like memory of Knocking Broom bidding me fair well upon leaving. I went to my grandparents home for a visit. At the time my parents were splitting up. Anyway I never got to see him again. 40 or so years later and Knocking Broom was completely real to me. I bet if he popped in now it would be quite unnerving. ☮️🐥🗝
Are there any more myths and legends about Aztecs and mexican forklore
Three-in-one???This is great.
Slavic mythology has an interesting analogue of the German lich - koshchey (rus. кощей) or kostiy (ukr. We have own Lich King ^_^ - Tsar Koshchey.
Please do Koschei the Deathless
I think it would be cool if you did a video over the beldam
I really liked the opening artwork, where/who is it from if I may ask?
Slavic folklore creatures you should talk about more because the Witcher game I've been crying and name every creature from Slavic folklore you find out
Domovoi is like finnish "Tonttu". Leshy looks at least visually like finnish "Tapio", spirit of forest. There is not much actual known anymore about ancient finnish mythology. Kalevala is watered down and strongly edited version of it. But, given the fact that in Russia, I believe, many people have more or less finno-ugric ancestry (there are finno-ugric ethnic groups like: karelians, ingrians, vepsians, mordvians, etc. inside russian borders), there may be lot of common origins on at least some mythic characters between ancient finnish and slavic mythology. Well, at least I regocnized Domovoi instantly. Me being finnish.
TREE?! I am no tree! I am an Ent.
Can you do a list of Celtic mythical creatures?
If anyone here could give me some recommendations on books about mythology and folklore in slavic countries, it would be much appreciated. It's kinda difficult to find any literature about mythological creatures in slavic folklore, and it's even harder to find books that are actually translated to german or english.
Novigrad!
where is Geralt? 😂
O:11 IS IT A CAT
Donovoi:THATS IT THE HOUSE IS GONNA GO UP IN FLAMES
do you recommend any books on russian/slavic folklore?
interesting
Relating to the Witcher series 1 is a Godling, 2 Leshn, 3 Not yet Discovered
It would be nice if you could give your sources on all those stories if someone wants to dig deeper ;) You are also using pictures which should be credited as well.
I think the domovoi is weirdest creature on this list
I feel like the leshy would make a cool guardian in smite.
1:53 aw so thouse a warcraft bullding in the elfs class .
Aw
domovoy -good boy,kikimora_bad girl
I'd like to see these creatures of Slavic mythology be featured in *Harry Potter* if J.K. Rowling ever gets an idea to expand on the universe of her stories.
Could you do a video on Baltic mythology?
almost same
I think I like Leshys... Weren't they also accompanied by ravens?
So ents from LotR are actually based Leshys?
Thank you
Do you know about the imps as being demons or fairy I believe that imps are both or like what you see in certain animals like the coral snake and the scarlet king snake
Still going!
Domovoi isn't hurt anyone just scream in a night
There exist a creature like the one in the thumbnail... in our area
They sure liked their bearded bois
I thought that the Leyshy and the Yeti were the same thing.
So Leshys are groots?
Will-i-am Golden Treebeard is a Leshy.
More like the Ents in Lord of the Rings.
The bear and the nightingale
The Leshy look like Ents
Domovoi seems similar to the hustomte
Is terrifying about Slavic folklore
I would rather have my future a mystery and not have a Bannik claw my back
Bet you green bulls devil fruit will be based on the leshy.
what?
We Slavs have some scary ass mythology
oh yeah
Da
2:42 Honestly given such poor hygiene Ive seen, I want this demon to be real and would give it house and board.
Let me be brief and accurate: I'm studying true Pagan history, my ancestry with a fellow friend from MoorishScienceTemple with whom I compare our strives and historical turnovers.
Pagan Slavs were a threat to Imperial Capitalism, because of their spiritual lifestyle and a very humane behavior towards surrounding much like that of Native Americans.
To be in balance with nature, to treat others well, to bring about peace, prosperity and take from the land only what you need to survive. A true preservers.
However powers at be, a forceful Christian oppressors from Rome completely destroyed their culture and practices and replaced them with demonized ideology - Satanism.
In short the Slavic people have lost the knowledge of self and became converted and enslaved as a labor force for Europe. (The north lives well because there exists the south)
A very similar catastrophe have happened to African-American slaves hundreds of years later. They also were stripped of who they are and what they are.
Just like with Paganism being flipped upside down, the Africans held very dear a spiritual practice called vodun, which later became demonized as Voodoo.
So people have lost the knowledge of self and became indoctrinated into a white supremacist culture,
just to be abused and exploited in much the same manner but under different, more cruel circumstances.
I'm moved to write a book about all these discoveries and how filthy colonizer Europeans have perverted and revised World History for their own materialistic benefits,
stealing from basically everybody on this planet and for centuries inducing savage, primitive and uncivilized mindset that ruined all great tribes and civilizations around the world,
it's when Heaven was turned into Hell and here we are in the 21st century, when eco-system fails.
I was watching this video and then bird hit the window
as i understand from slavic mithology, the only good ones are Domovoi and Leshy
How do I meet a Leshy and make friends with them?
bannik bannik bannik
where Vod'anoy where russalka ?
Lorax
Leshy are real
I’m groot
YO CUZ WTF IS THAT SHIT AHHHHHHHBGHBHHHHHHHHHH
In my opinion all Slavic creatures are weird. Slavs have the most horror like mythology.
Our Domovoj is dead ...
Roman law.. live by heavens law, or else you are thier property
Well it’s official the ancient Slavics were on drugs of all kinds
