MORE CELTIC MYTHOLOGY PLEASE
Joe Toomey what about the biblical story
Mythology & Fiction Explained can you do I video video on the goddess brigid
WHO CARES, MORE CELTIC MYTHOLOGY
Irish/Celtic mythology is my favorite.
*Turns into a salmon and swims away*
undertakersarmpit that's the last time I have someone else cook for me
i always wonder what drove him into the sea.. was it the nagging or the demand for attention?
chu chulain?
That story was so unrealistic. As if any man would run away from three women fighting over him.
I think it was 40 women fighting over him.. which kind of explain thing.. One a guy may handle,,, two he may think he is heaven 3 he not sure who to agreed with. 4 he now in trouble, 5 he wont get a night rest.. 6 he always in trouble
The Morrigan is somehow one of the most fascinating Godessess from any Mythology. Celtic Mythology is simply great. It's a pitty it isn't as popular as Norse, Egyptian or Greek Mythology. There are so many interesting tales in Celtic Folklore.
Seeing the Goddess isn't always an omen. She also comes to help.
Duh. They never really appreciate what those around her create. It's my environment. I don't care. I'm going to embrace my mistake to take the task to help you.
Yes she does❤️
Yeah but if you refuse to bone her she'll get mad and betray you
waylon lewin the Morrigan is a Goddess and worship of the true Goddesses of our ancestors is a normal and natural event. There is also nothing wrong with having a statue or image of your Gods and Goddesses. The Bible doesn’t exactly tell the truth when concerned to pagan worship - no Pagan, past or present, believes that the statue or image is the God or Goddess, we all know they are representations. Similarly, the myths are not usually meant to be interpreted literally.
But she's not great support
Plz do more Irish mythology. As an Irish person myself I feel that Irish mythology is underrepresented due to the lack of written accounts
Domhnall O Braonain I'm not Irish (although most of my great grandparents came from Ireland) but I agree, Irish mythology is massively underrepresented, especially because of how good it is, it's easily as good as it's Greek counterpart, I read somewhere that a lot of written accounts were destroyed/surpressed by England/Christianity a long time ago which is a shame, it deserves to be amongst the greats from what I've found so far.
They don't have too many gods and goddess but it has lots of creatures
Irish mythology is SO UNDERRATED. it makes me angry!
mr Brutal kill there are a ton of gods! We just don't have a lot of written detailed accounts of them all. Only a name reference here or there
Amethyst Midnight nope
Really think about that symbolism between mother death and father life...
The Morigan promises victory -- without a loser, there can be no victor
Dagda only seeks to create life, but also seeks to win war (the inevitable result of life)
In order for life to begin anew, first, old life must die
But in order for things to die, they must first be born
So the Morgan helps the Dagda to help replenish new life,
and the Dagda contributes to the Morigan through war (the symphony of death).
He's not exchanging "sex for victory", he's exchanging *life* for *death*, being the God of fertility, whereas the Morigan is the Goddess of fate (all children return to the mistress' embrace in the end).
They're perfect for one another...
Tl;dr, relationship goals
I would love to hear more about the supernatural beings of celtic and irish myth
As a Wiccan I have had one powerful meditation with The Morrigan. To me she was much like Medusa, and the cults of Medusa. Something that is seemingly terrifying, but is a wise figure that comes to help and teach you with harsh lessons that help you to grow more deeply in the self. She teaches the wisdom of death, rebirth and then life. She also teaches oneself to stand up, for yourself, and again to grow. She also shows you the importance of embracing the darker side of the psyche, much like Sekhmet to face the darkest impulses and release them in a manner that is healthy. That the past traumas you stuff down, will always come to surface, and you have to let them out.
Yesterday I did small ritual with Sekhmet as guided by Isis Oracle . But today I am hearing Morrigan twice. I am so drawn to her. She reminds me of Kali goddess from Hindu mythology.
I saw Morrigan from Dragon Age...I click.
fallenangel2100 my warden is an Amell mage(male) who romanced Morrigan
Izabella Perez SAME 😂
Archmage9 6 My warden Arthur Cousland was last seen going after his love during a “Witch Hunt”
Same here, never noticed they straight up ripped the name from mythology. Blows my mind that I'm still learning things about dragon age origins
Me too
The morrigan appears as she wants to. She is a powerful being, so much that many consider her three separate beings. Protective, strong, sometimes blunt, she is worthy of worship.
I enjoy and love stories of the Morrigan. Mostly because, though I live in the states, I have Celtic roots, both Scottish and Irish, and consider myself a Celt. I love the image of her because she is a strong female figure who understood death and battle. I am no soldier, but I do have wars of my own to fight inside myself, and strong female fifures, like the Morigan, encourage me in my life.
I'm similar, but I'm more drawn to Cu Chulainn.
So I actually dislike morrigan
I love the Celtic mythology, it’s why I loved ‘The Iron Druid’ series
I'm so excited that you did the Morrigan. I've been learning more about Irish/Celtic mythology because I find her so interesting. She's such a mysterious and strong figure. I always kind of thought of her as similar to Hecate, especially because of the associations with a trio of women. Also, I've heard that she also can be associated with the maid, mother, and chrone imagery same as Hecate. Did you come across this?
She definitely can but i think its more modern and not how she originated. She is associated with more than just three faces. Badb, Anu, Aine, Nemain, Macha, Danu and more i have forgotten. All her aspects are still fierce and powerful so the Maiden kind a doesn't fit her even though Anu and Aine could fall into that roll, though Aine is a Leanne Sidhe so that would be interesting lol.
Dragon age was definitely influenced by this mythology lol
Yeah it's also influenced by The Arthur stories. Morgana is a witch in those stories and hell of you play as an Amell mage you're pretty much Merlin 🤣
FINALLY someone shows her some love!
Morrigan was always my fave companion in Dragon Age, so it's nice to see a video made about her mythological counterpart. She kinda reminds me of a toned down Morgan Le Fay.
I remember I started playing da origins and watching merlin at the same time and kept getting morgana and morrigan's names confused
A goddess after my own heart...
Never knew she was part of a trio, and more videos on Irish/ Celtic mythology would be great
she is not always seen as part of a trio and the trio changes as well.
I'd love more Celtic mythology. It seems to be so hard to find more information about the culture and religion of the Celts and I really want to learn more about my ancestors and get to compare them to other cultures from those days.
Well the first thing you need to know is that there is no mention of the word Celt in our literature be it mythology, poetry or written accounts of history. The word always used is Gael. The word Celt was not even in the Irish language until about 100 years ago. The new theory amongst scholars now is that Celt connection is linguistic......Secondly we do not even have a Celtic stand in our national museum as we dont have much in the way of Celtic artefacts be it pottery, jewellery or weapons ..So whos knows anymore lol....One thing for sure is that we Irish are Gaelic and thats good enough for me as that is what my ancestors called themselves
Oisin O Lochlainn Celtic, or Celt, is a catch all term similar to Viking or Native American. To condense the Celts down to the Gaelic people alone would be silly when they, once, were all over Europe.
Oisin O Lochlainn Well, I'm Dutch, our protestant ancestors managed quite nicely to destroy any documents and myths, all we know is that it used to be a combination of Germanic and Celtic. It's real hard to find anything belonging to them mythology and religion wise
Isabelle Kuipers it’s always a shame to hear about a group of people trying to stomp out a culture. Sadly that’s what happened to most of the Celts though, if it wasn’t the Roman Empire it was the church who finished the job. Ireland was left mostly unscathed (compared to the rest of the lands that the Celts inhabited) since the Romans could hardly battle another island after trying so long to take over Britain.
It doesn’t help that it seems most of the celts passed down history and tradition orally, so a lot of it just disappeared. But I hope you’re able to find out as much as you possibly can regardless of how much is gone.
Frog Toad Thanks, it's indeed rather hard. Most of the 17th to 19th century folklore can help give an idea of what might be religious things from the Celts, but it's really hard trying to find out more things about them. The Romans were the more tolerable ones, they at least only "romanised" local culture and religion, Christianity murdered it
More of Irish Mythology please. Also I think The Morrigan were Three Sister Goddesses each able to shapeshift and make themselves look like other gods
I would love to see more videos on the gods/goddesses of Irish and celtic mythology!
I've also seen a character called The Morrigan in the tv show Lost Girl. She was the leader of the Dark Fae.
More Irish and Celtic supernatural beings please
The Morrigan was always a fascinating Goddess to me, every time i see a Rook or Jackdaw in the land of Eire i instantly think of her. Great video, goes without sayng i would love to hear your take on the Gaelic/Celtic Myths, from the tribes of the Goddess Danu and before or beyond! Of course Morrigan from Dragon Age is heavily influenced by The Morrigan, brilliant series btw even if i only hunt the Platinum trophy on Origins. (;
I knew her only from Folk Metal bands. I recommend the song 'Morrigan's Call' by Cruachan it's a short song but it's awesome (also even though they're a Metal band this song isn't heavy at all)
Just gave it a listen there, catchy an interesting. Thanks for the info.
I would love to see you do more Irish lore and mythology. I'm very proud of my Irish heritage and love learning more about the culture. I also like seeing it covered more because of how it is not really touched on much in academia or popular culture. I wonder what you might find regarding the old Irish and Celtic holidays. I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that Halloween's origins actually go all the way back to the Irish and Celtic holiday of Samhain, but many of those older practices aren't really observed anymore and what is observed has been changed so much that it almost not recognizable. I suppose a look at the mythology and lore tied to Samhain would be good idea for a Halloween episode, as opposed to the usual something creepy type episodes done at around that time.
Watching your shows, I always learn something new.
I have felt a kinship between the stories of Morrigan and Hecate, but now I see a link to the Valkyrja as well. All deal with death, and with connections to Odin and Hades, this all pairs together nicely for me.
It's a shame that such complex and interesting figure has so few views and likes.
For a brief time, I would meditate and offer prayers to both Morrigan and Odin. I found their complexity and their experienced perspectives on the cycles and challenges of life very comforting. I found her in my mind's eye to be both constant as life and death are constant and adapatable as human experience is adaptable. Mostly I saw her as fluid and intense as emotional responses to love and war and fiercely nurturing.
I truly love morrigan and love even more that you did a video on her. Thank you
Sir white a lot the pagan preacher she is encarnated now you know... She is the same as Ninmah... And Hecate. The spliting of up of languages meant one being would get many names.
honest2 afault ok
Sir white a lot the pagan preacher awe you dont believe me 😢
Thats ok. I know it seems crazy.
But thats ok too.
Love and light.
honest2 afault its not that I don't believe you, its that your comment was fucking random m8.
Sir white a lot the pagan preacher kind of.... And fair enough... You said you love her... So i guess i just wondered if you knew... That is all
as a follower of this particular goddess, i can say from my own personal experience that she is indeed a singular entity, and she primarily acts in the sense of a nurturing paternal manner to those who are of her path sharing that of her wisdom as such as well, i hope this helps.. blessed be, love and light to you.
May I ask what your experience was like with her? I see her kinda like a grandma because she helped me in a dream I had once. I miss her, but she kinda scares me lol. I’ve met people who have seen a different side to her though. It’s my understanding that she is one entity, but has different sides she shows to different people.
A really fitting name for Shay's ship. Really fitting. Also, as said in comments, Morrigan from Dragon age, was HEAVILY inspired by this.
I'd love to see a video on Scathach.
Jericho Jack I agree
Yes I’d love to hear more of this type! I’m always looking for both Irish & Scottish folklore/legends since they are where my ancestors immigrated from💚☘️🏔🌬🧚🏻♀️🏹⚔️🇮🇪🏴
Thank you for handling more on mythologies other than Greek/Roman, Norse, and Egyptian. Please do add more from Irish, Welsh, Slavic, and Celtic mythologies. They are sorely missing from mainstream. I just found this channel, so I've not looked to see if you have anything on Native American (both North and South American) mythology, but those are interesting as well.
Please do more on irish mythology! I loveeee your videos!! They’re so helpful & accurate!
I would want to see more of this mythology, I find it very interesting
I absolutely love all of these videos. It's very interesting to see how much ancient mythology plays a role in our society today. Almost all of the creatures and gods mentioned in these videos can be seen multiple times in movies, video games, and books that are fairly recent. Most of the characters seem to keep the majority of their personality traits, characteristics, and story lines as well. Your videos have great sound quality, and your storytelling is phenomenal. Keep it up!
Yeah, I’d like to hear you cover more deities from Irish/Celtic myth. Great channel, btw, I enjoy listening.
If you like the Morrigan read the series "the iron druid chronicles". Great adapatation of the Celtic lore and gods.
Could you do something on the Tuathal De Danu as a whole? Or Lugh specifically?
Yep I do plan on exploring them in some detail along with the other supernatural beings within Irish mythology.
yes pleas do more of the celtic/irish mythology, love your videos!!!
I'm ridiculously excited to see my suggestion in a video! In my thoughts I never associate her with a triad. I've always pictured her as one woman, and more middle aged/rougher in aspect than the young women usually pictured. After all she was a warrior. Still beautiful, but in a different way. Fiercer.
I'm also a Wheel of Time fan which drew on so many different mythologies and religions. I loved that the Tinkers were known as the Tuatha'an which was clearly a reference to the Tuatha de danaan.
There is lore that considers her a triple goddess. Which just means there’s different sides of her that she presents for different reasons
This was very interesting indeed and I loved the presentation. I hope you cover more celtic and irish as well as many of the other pantheons. Your vids are always done very well.
I'm a Scorpio sun, moon and rising with Irish and celtic blood born in Scotland The Morrigan for myself is a singular individual with the three sides too her - a trine within herself :) I'm loving your Irish and celtic videos ♡ deffo love to hear and see more it's almost like learning more about myself and my family tree!!
You are very dangerous being that can rule a vast majority of land and you may need too by 2030.
I love these videos about less known mythologies like celtic and irish mythologies I really hope you plan on making some more in the future but eitherway; you make amazing videos!
Great work here! For a quick and general description, it was well done. More Irish mythology please!
I once read a series of books ‘the diary of the immortal nicholas flamel’ which included gods from a load of different mythologies including the Morrigan, there she’s represented as being 3 separate personalities/spirits trapped in a single body together each trying to fight for dominance and control of the body. Makes it quite interesting as one of the personalities is malevolent towards the main characters whilst the others want to help them instead.
The Jade Emperor next pls
Thanks much for reviewing The Morrigan! In some texts that I read a long time ago, it isn't her name but a title. Then there's the trio who are sisters, considered to be powerful witches. One of the old stories I read of the three Morrigan is when they walked between two battling armies and everyone immediately died as they pass. Scary! 😱
And please, do more Celtic, Irish, old English mythologies. 😍😍😍
Strong allies for sure if your a protector for them.
@@scherer321 you definitely want to be on their good side. 😁
@geffeternal741 fairy magic is addicting strong makes me light up but then again dragons always protected the fae :)
Thank for this video, you are very kind to share all of this exciting information, with great pictures and narrative.
Love the way you explain things, man. Keep up the good work.
Actually, in many interpretations, she’s depicted as a Goddess of War & Discord
Yes and So Much More... ❣
I would love to see more of celtic/Irish myths! Great video!
Lol I clicked on this thinking it was a Dragon Age video!
Sorry to disappoint.
Mythology & Fiction Explained Not at all! These are very interesting videos! I love Celtic mythology!
CoffeeCupGoodness what's dragon age
Dora it's a video game.
CoffeeCupGoodness same here😂
Definitely do more of these videos! Both Irish and Celtic mythology are so interesting and underrepresented.
I think you are doing a great job, very well informed, facts widespread through old myth and modern myth. You show a lot of the differences between modern character and source material. Very good job.
I love learning about mythology mainly Greek, Japanese and Chinese and I've been exposed to others through a game called Smite and read alot on the gods and goddess but I always look forward to your uploads to refresh my memory or expand my knowledge. So I really hope you keep this up!! 💚
theres a goddess similar to her called andraste the goddess of ravens, war, and victory. she was the patron goddess of boudica
Oh very interesting ! Thanks for mentioning her 🐦I will look into her. 🧚♀💜
Just wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Yes I would love to know more about Morgon & her history. Love what you do. Keep up the great job! Stay safe & stay well.
♡♡♡
As an Irish person, your pronunciations made me so happy, thank you 🥹 Irish is a tough one to get right but you did a really good job! I’m in the process of writing a fantasy novel based on Irish and Celtic lore and I’ve being going down rabbit holes on CZcams for inspiration and have been suffering through some horrific pronunciations😂
Yes!!! I have been waiting on this video!!!! The Morrigan blessed be!
Thank you your videos just get better and better
I follow the celtic pantheon, and worship the morrigan and cernunnos, im so glad more is being spoken about when it comes to the celtic mythology
I'd love to learn more about Irish and Celtic mythology. Loving your videos! Thank you for them.
I love your videos 💜
I love the artwork you use
Thank you for all the work you put forth 😊
I would love to hear more about Scottish and Irish deities. Thankyou for what you are doing.
Love your videos that give us a look at more obscure mythology. Keep it coming
Love your content. Would personally love to see more on this topic.
Tell me more about Irish goddess.
Job well done. Thank you for sharing.
My middle name is Morrigan and boy am I proud of it!
My favorites are the war, death and vengeance dieties. Awesome video, thank you for the daily knowledge.
Once again another brilliant vid, this is a nice change from your usual vid's because Irish & Celtic Mythology is abit obscure. Marnerva also sounds like the sorcerers Morgan 😊
Thanks for making this
Awesome content.. Thanks!
I loved this one! I always watch your vids . keep up the good work i feel like i learn soooo much from you. You have expanded my thirst for knowledgeable things on CZcams. Thanks again! 😉👍
More more more!!! I love learning about this!
I love your mythology videos!
I think her naturie as both three and one lead the way for Christianity to be so widely accepted in Ireland.
Please do more celtic and irish mythology!
Awesome video! I would love to see more of irish mythology!
For me, though, the first thing that came into my mind is Morrigan Aensland from the Darkstalkers series. Though from what little I know of both the video game character and the mythological being as you discussed here, it appears the former is just loosely based on the latter; also considering the Morrigan Aensland also has a bat motif which was nowhere mentioned in your video.
Speaking of Morrigan Aensland, I think I now wanna hear about Lilith; of course, I meant the goddess Morrigan’s clone/sister is based on. From what I recall, she is in Mesopotamian myths, right?
How about a video on Arawn, the Celtic (or Welsh) god of the underworld?
I always thought that she was the source of inspiration for the sister of King Arthur, the thorn in Merlin's side.
She's never a bad omen, a blessing to the ones who know. Blessed to serve her
Love the music you play just fits the videos so perfect
In December 2004, I was driving what is sometimes called a "powdertrain." It is a commercial vehicle tractor/truck, with two big trailers full of powdered cement. At first I noticed "the hitchhiker" in the passenger seat that was my deceased Dad. Right after "seeing (nothing there to see, I sensed)" this, I made a prayer to Macha for protection from accidents. Three and a half hours later, the last animal I saw was a raven sitting on the barbed-wire fence. About two minutes later, a sleeping driver hit my front tire, sending me and 80,000 pounds of powdertrain into the desert outside Mojave, CA. I rolled twice, on the second rollover my mind said, "I'm gonna die." I was moving at 55 mph when this happened. Other than expected muscle and head injuries, I only received a broken nose that was cut when the windshield popped out, and smacked my face with sunglasses. I give her total credit for writing this 18 years later. Cheers.
Cover more on the super natural beings from Irish/Celtic mythology.
I really love the Irish stuff, please keep it coming, I'm really interested in the supernatural tribes you talked about in this video, if you could go into detail on them in other videos I would love that. Also, I think you would be interested in Venezuelan myths like El Silbon amongst others.
Love your videos! Please do more irish/celtic.
Thank you for posting this!! Yes, I was familiar with both the Morrigan and the Thuatha de Danon. I may have spelled that wrong and if I did I apologize. I see her as both independent and part of the trio. She is brilliant, strong, loving and bold, and I love that she has called to me. I would love to see more Irish mythology.
That’s great! Brigid is mine, but the Morrigan is like a grandma to me because she helped me once. Many believe she’s a triple goddess. One deity with different sides.
Thanks for doing an Irish?Celtic myth, and I would love ore, but I would also love to hear more myths from other parts of the world. Thanks again,
I feel sooooo honored and happy that she is calling out to me. How I love strong and powerful goddesses. I have Hekate with me and finding out shes here in my life calling me feels so good. I accept her calling.
Your channels are growing Gary fast keep it up man
i would love for you to cover more. you really got good knowledge of this stuff and I like watching your vids
Glad this showed up in my recommended. Great video! I have been reading the Iron Druid Chronicles and there is a lot of Irish mythology in them.
I think Irish Mythology would make wonderful movies with today's special effect technology.
Thank Goddess for you and your channel ☺️ Wishing you a blessed New Year 🎉🥂❣️ Here's a a better year in 2021 ❤️🤙
Just like the rest I seriously thought it was detailed account of the origins of Morigan from Dragon Age. Pretty wild too that Leiliana uses ravens as her spies. This was kick ass! Thanks for the share
Jenni Kohls wow you really killed her name 😐 it’s Léliana
always love the vids. I would love to see more Celtic deities may as well start with the three sisters you mentioned that have a connection to the Morrigan. My first was through the Arthurian tales as his half sister Morrigan le Fay. Could do a video on Arthurian characters after. Could you add a few suggested readings on the topics I would love to read were you get your info first hand to learn more.
War is my Master, death is my mistress. The Triple Godess. Noice.
she also supreme mistress of both fire and water.
well, she is also Thanatos date, i guess.
She's a woman you don't want to mess with
yep, i don't wanna mess with her..............
Yea except Thanatos and The Morrigan are from very seperate Pantheons, so nope.
razor edge Thanatos is a God of Death, mainly peaceful death. Death by The Morrigan is far from peaceful.
Please include more Irish mythology! My great, great grandfather came to America from Ireland, and most (if not all) of that side of my family’s become completely out of touch with their roots... I know it’s still mythology, but I’d love to learn more about my ancestor’s culture!
