- Today on The Skid Factory We're hooking into some intercooler and Exhasust fabrication but first we need to finish assembling the engine and modify the sump to help with oil surge issues on front sumped JZ engines.
Thanks to the team at Golebys for the assistance with the build and supplying a bunch of quality parts including Kelford Camshafts, Garrett Turbochargers, Ross Performance Parts, Plazmaman, 6 Boost and Platinum Racing Products.

Your Build sick ass Cars just for the record
Is somebody inside Kevin while Al's doing the last piece to cam or have I had too much coffee?
Well done boys, my grom (9) watches the skid factory with me and that brang a smile to his face. He is currently going through his second battle with leukemia in which he'll need a bone marrow transplant. Keep us entertained with the goodness for our upcoming stay at Westmead 👌🏽
I hope he will be ok ! Little legend
@@JimLahey21 he'll be right, cheers mate.
Good luck young fella! One day you can be as old and wise as Al, and get to play with cool fast cars every day, just keep your chin up and listen to your folks!
i hope he gets better and can continue to enjoy the skid factory
All the best to you and your boy!
Rex hunt would be so proud. I don’t know why but that’s what popped into my head randomly I’m sorry 😂
Tbh al kinda looks a bit like ol rexxy
He also did look like he’s kissed a fish before…
Thanks for huge donation mate! 👌🏻👌🏻
@@theskidfactory there will be more. Each year I’m going to be beating previous years donations as a whole. This year I’m up to about $2500 so far.
legend
Missed the longer vids that are technical like this. Good jobs boys!
"You never know everything. No matter how old you are."
Classic Alan in all his Yodaness.
One of the main reason I immediately started to follow TSF back when those guys didn't have their own separate channel.
Always humble, respectful of the knowledge of others and a very good person to explain clearly and simply a subject.
Thanks Alan and Woody.
Keep up the good work, for you first of all. And for our entertainment and education. Cheers.
I would just like to say thanks for the fund raising for leukaemia my 10 year old son was diagnosed six weeks ago and the help you guys and everyone else who raises funds for research into a cure for this terrible disease YOU GUYS ARE HEROES IN MY BOOK thanks again love your channel now I do a hell of a lot more ❤❤❤
I love not only how good you guys are at what you do (both mechanical and video wise) but I really admire the spirit and heart you all have! Showing the internet what real people are with respect and love! JD 🤘🏻
I'm only a minute 30 sec in, and TSF have already made my day. Just Great Buggers! Awesome that you guys support these worthwhile causes. The car content is pretty good too!
Thanks guys for the leukemia funds donation as someone who is currently dealing with it at the moment and big fan of the the show great to get some awareness and funding . Can’t wait to see Kevin doing a skid
That trout didnt die in vain. Well done to the boys. Imagine youtube was around back in the day. Amazing how we can see these legendary engine builds, and making the knowledge available to the world. Great entertainment as well. Great watch.
This type of sump baffle is exactly what I use in all my sumps, with a little on the sides too. I have no clue why people go so overboard on trap doors and the like when a simple plate like this is far superior in my opinion. It has no effect on oil draining back to the pickup (yes it has to travel a little further but it does not stop the overall flow) and is by far the most efficient baffle to stop oil sloshing in any direction. Vastly underrated!!!!
As a mechanic of twelve years and now having apprentices under me, Woody you are one lucky guy to have such a legend as a mentor and it shows how much you've also learnt from him. Great work guys, loving this Kevin series and can't wait to see it bloody rip down the line! Edit: Who's the guy in the car at the end lol?
A 43 min ep of epicness, golly!
One of your best ever episodes. Getting the family involved. Building a cool car out of a boring car, using world standard parts and also good old-fashioned talent. Giving some stick to the LS brigade. Kissing a fish on the lips. This episode had it all :)
That trout looks like its been on film before😂 if you know you know
Little request/suggestion. Paint the engine bay white. Will disguise all the bad bits and looks great with all the black and metal. It also makes working on it easier (more light and easy to spot leaks)
Fun episode with enough building covered but alot of progress too 🙏
Stellar stuff guys, cheers from the UK❤
Well done to the lads on the money raised! Lots of chop chop, weld weld in this one. Kevvy's gonna be a sicko!!
First, big up the boys raising so much for a good cause! Doing better work than i did as a teenager thats for sure.
Second, that mechanical fuel pump with the integrated cam sensor is a sick idea. Love combining things like that, its the sort of thing you'd see on a factory part.
Lastly, please tell me the Mazda in the background is Woody's, it suits him
Wow there are many hours of fabrication rolled nicely into that episode, you've been busy! Well done on the fund raising, Al you must be super proud of your lads.
What a cracking episode! If this was an American CZcams channel you could have got 9.6 episodes out of this content.
Well done to the groms excellent result! Love the build sequence for the charge pipes, great work both of you
More wholesome than the last time I saw a trout on the internet
Guys, love your work and banter!!! Al is an absolute gem! I think he meant “non” ferrous metal welding lol
Dudes, your positive vibes, banter, the excellent detailed content and sick tunes are the perfect cocktail for lifting the spirit. Thank you
Работа проделанная вне всяких похвал. Всё очен аккуратно. Даже есть время на творчество 😂😂😂, произведение искусства на 28:50 просто топ👍.
Calling it now. One day we’ll be seeing Al and Benny doing Drag week/Sick week together in the USA
Getting serious real this time boys not just a go fast car for mates but building a serious drag car about time …ha ha … with the expertise and the knowledge you both have (Al ) loving it .. stepping up to a new level… watching with baited eyes .. love this content
Watching you guys is such a joy and a college level lesson in how-to!🔥👍
Crank bolt torque specs are always fun, the one on my td5 was a delightful 460Nm
One in my vn was 380 ,I just gave it all the ugga duggas lol
Tbh I've never torqued a crank pulley in my life lol, never had a problem.
1200hp might be a different story though.
Nice production on this one, great editing and camera work , cool music with a great blend of real time shop sounds
Brilliant lads! Weekly dose of Skid Factory keeps me sane. Thankyou. :)
Just started watching you mate, love the way you explain everything and your a very talented man !, I watch vice grip and cleetus religiously you have now joined my top 3 !
Well done guys on the foundation drive! Rex would be proud.. Also great info on build aspects, kevin is proud of that..
You should squire some Honda Bond and use it as a gasket seal. I was. Honda tech for many years and I found it to be one of the best. Stays flexible and is fairly easy to remove.
Would love to see a turbo smart E-gate on this build and see the unique ways you guys can use it
Going from what I've seen happened with the K swapped Celica, they aren't great for trips.
Yeah heard they're not great, heard quite a few people having problems with them, even ol Rob dahm had issues, not sure how he fixed it off the top of my head.
Seem like a bunch of extra wires and a bit of a pain over a traditional gate 🤔
I have not heard of any success with them really. Most race cars are still using C02 control on pneumatic gates.
Millsi has one on his Bedford and it took a lot to get it to work and I don't think it's prefect.
I like this car!
Just started on a vs commodore myself! saved it from destruction as a burnout car, seeing your guys vids will help learn me a thing or two about what i may encounter, Cheers!
Thankyou for saving it from almost certain doom lol
Well done to your kids, it takes a bit of guts to shave your head, proud dad right there.
Loving this and the extra long updates!
quijibo is how it's spelt Al, also more than happy to come up and help out, all I'll like in return is one of those mint 800x200x76 gu td42 intercoolers ;)
Almost 10K! Good job, boys.
Aussie built over and over again. Legends
Anyone else notice the axe murderer in the back seat at the end of the video haha?
Is that Benny? The beard looks like his but I'm not sure.
Best Show yet, comprehensive, Funny and well shot Well done, fella's.
Big ups, the boys are killing it, both sets of 'em.
Solid progress on Kevin. Well done
These boys are a cut above. I’d love to see Al use and expand his knowledge on a light weight build like a Caterham.
Kevin is looking great! Love a nice 2JZ build.
Your a very clever bloke. I could never figure this stuff out. Turbos have complicated things x10. All I know is plastic fantastic
Mates of mine have changed to mechanical fuel pumps driven from the cam on there drift cars. Takes electrical load and heat away from the car.
800 to 1000+ whp setups. And works with out any problems.
Really enjoyed this video. Plenty of people can make this kind of video, but I really enjoy the amount of planning and thought you put into the execution of it. Everything is so deliberate. Makes the difference between just another CZcams wannabe, and someone doing it right.
Regarding the Slaz or Shmoo distinction. Anything that is used as a sealing element between two surfaces we call Slaz, anything that is on show that you tool with a damp finger until you run out of fingers we call Shmoo (or Schmoo if it’s a German car).
Great progress, engine looks amazing!
Love your videos mate, really good to watch. When you guys get a min have a look at my mk3 supra 7mgte, we're nearly ready to race. Good luck with Kevin, look forward to more of your content guys. Thanks.
Awesome effort lads.. excellent cause.. love the channel, it's given me the confidence to rip into my vl.. keep up the good work
great video guys. Thanks.
Good job young men, proper job gentleman teaching to give back 👍
LOVING the Kevin content Gents, keep it comin’ 👌🏼
You could T the street exhaust into the race dump pipe, put a V band on the dump with a quick release cap for street use.
Plumbing the blow off into the street exhaust would save having to crawl under the car and it all would be street legal.
Loving the choones as you would call it during the side pipe install
Awesome build, you make me wanna have one. Your an artist
Best episode/series to date
Wood your so good with the creation of these shows
Top notch stuff boys
Great episode lads 👍
Bloody great video. Luving the build :)>>. Can’t wait to see it at a track maybe beside the foxbody 3RZ or Hoff’s long roof Corolla !!!!!!
Ummm... is Kevin haunted... 43mins in, there's a shadowy figure in the back seat!?!
Yibbeda yibbeda! I never thought I'd hear that again! I used to love ol Rexi! Thanks Al! 🙌
And congrats to the kids for raising an awesome amount, super effort. ❤
Loving the building of Kevin it's looking great keep up the great work boys
Well done groms!
I’ve been looking at this mechanical pump kit for my 2JZ (Soarer/SC300), so this is great! I’ve been wondering about disadvantages, these pumps aren’t common in North America.
Nice footage in the guard!
Really good episode 👍
Saw a video the other day of Rad Dan, who said that having an extra litre of oil in front sump 2Js helps to mitigate the slosh back issue and doesn't overfill it enough to come in contact with the crank.
I am old enough to just be amazed that you can get 1200 hp from a six cylinder as easy as falling of a log. 5 to 6 hundy was the shiz in my day. Its fantastic.
Well done boys. Raising that much money is awesome.
i wasnt going to enter motorex this year but that advert swayed me :D
Another good one! Thank you.
love this build!! you guys do awesome work! stoked for more vidz!!
Classic MPW comment. I'm sure Adam will see the funny side. Love their work almost as much as yours legends.
Thats one sexy engine bay, its already up their with the hako and crown and only getting started👌
Great ep, fab and video editing on point 👌🏻👍🏻🇦🇺
Already stocked for that Mazda project in the background!!!
Well done boys 👏👏👏
Super exited for this build 🤘😆🤘
Rex Hunt hit me in the feels!
Such a small thing but it's s nice seeing you guys get the air filter out into the cold. Over watching Americans mount them right behind the radiator lol. Don't get why they think that is good..? Kev is coming out so good, can't wait to see him rippin'!
That's even if they run a filter at all lol Americans are nuts lol
Mines going 90° off turbo through inner guard behind/below the passenger headlight in my vn ,keeps it outa the heat and gets nothing but fresh air 👌
Gale Banks is getting into my head.
Thank you guys for the long video I know they are difficult to put together we all appreciate it I believe
well done lads great effort !!!
jeeeeeeeeeesus the way Al was stroking that oil pan while telling the corset story lol.
EDIT: "Bye Felica" on the screws was such a nice touch.
31:48 cinematic sequence appreciation comment
Great episode, very informative and lots of neat detailed filming. Well done guys. A little more serious in this episode and less banter/shenanigans
Once again calling out for content using the Volvo T5 donk, just got mine flash tuned to 400Nm! Those engines are everywhere, every second Volvo I see has one and a few Fords.
Great stuff guys, enjoy your clips immensely, thanks....
thanks guys. loved every minute of it. shame I can only hit the like button once,
This was my favourite in ages
In my hemisphere we call that fuel coupler a love-joy.
Love the long vid boys
it's all down from there bra
the inner lad comes out ALAN
Nice work guys taking Kevin from sicko to sick c#@t and making it look like it's easy, can't wait to see it on the dyno!!
Kwigibo xD was the very first word said on the very first episode of the Simpson's.. hahhha shows your age Yoda, I used to have that word stuck in my head back in the early 90's
Kwyjibo is from episode 2 of season 1. Far from the first word, but I still use the word nearly every damn day to describe my dog. It's always "uh oh, Kwyjibo"
@@Elxmo hahahha yeah probably.. now I think about it, we had recorded the first few seasons on VHS from the TV and I think we were missing the first episode, plus we may have missed the first few seconds of the episode.. for me growing up it was the first word of the first episode as I use to watch them over and over ;)
@Daniel Spiteri I've got every episode on deck... The first 6 seasons are the best ones, though.
Can't wait to see Kevin ripping!!
