From my experience white is good in theory as you can see any leaks, but in practice it is just a PITA to keep half clean. The light battleship grey colour now popular with Audi is actually perfect PS: current racecar is white - I never learn
Keep it light with a yellow or a orange. VL yellow or Ford orange. 🤙
I'd paint the engine bay a grey/silver like the MR2 engine was.
Personally I would love to see the engine bay in bare metal with just a clear coat to prevent rusting, But even the white it is now looks great
Poo brown... Because skid marks. You going to have undies skiddies driving that beast and because skid factory... Will hide any oil leaks too so winner. haha
Woody's sheet metal brilliance followed by Al's safety squints are a perfect representation of this channel :)

I believe that if you look closely al was in fact using “full safety blinkers”.
Closed eye welding is always the best welding 😂
@@theskidfactory Joggers! That's some fancy stuff there! Safety thongs FTW!
Engine bay for Kevin would be deep purple w/ metal flake for King Kevin
What ever color you chose have a proper striping in the same color
On a side note, I guess you feel like it’s same, same showing hose making or cooler piping ect but I genuinely enjoy watching it on each build because every build is different and there difference ideas and layouts and thought progresses on each job so I personally don’t find it repetitive at all.
I was totally thinking the huge difference between streetcar and racecar. Same fittings and hose but much different in layout, engine movement and available space.
Couldn't agree more
Leave it white. It’s bright, shows off all the bling, and most of all, your hard work.
A bronze hue against the white always looks clean plus it breaks up the all white 🤩
How goods a Sunday evening video drop…can watch at home on the big screen instead of at work on my phone👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great vid as always guys.
Patreon Perks!
Great episode. Kevin is looking killer. White engine bay please. And have it nice and clean all the time. Just to show everyone how nice and Reliable it looks.
Hot pink!!! I remember an old 80s lx Torana with black paint and a hot pink engine bay and tunnel rammed chev!
In the racing world. A grey engine bay is the best. Reason for it. If there is a oil, coolant, or type of leak and it sprays over on to the paint. It makes it easier to see where it is coming from. But normally I want to do Flat Chassis Black to help hide imperfection, and allow the engine to be the focal point.
I legit love all the nitty gritty details of all your builds guys! It's never the same stuff!
Handy work on the bead roller Woodrigo! Kevvy's coming along nicely!!
I used GJ drivelines for years in Warrnambool in the 90s when I was cutting brand new Kenworth truck in 1/2 to made longer .. it just brought back happy memories..
Wrinkle red engine bay, with black engine = perfection. Keep up the good work boys.
And we need a full darth vader race suit for Al with helmet and all. And a princess Lea costume for woodie for the "drag" strip :D.
Love this weeks episode! I agree the white of the engine bay would be good. But the green of the raceworks spanner would be mint!
Always putting out good videos always learning from you guys, keep up with the good content 🎉
Leave it white, white goes well with the black and the polished alloy, plus is very easy to spot any fluids that shouldn't be there on a white background.
When you wanna go fast, sometimes it's function over form. Chrome may get you Home, but the endless consideration to make everything workable, it's next level. 👍👍
Engine bay colour.... Hmmmm, the same or similar colour to the Crown.
Well sorry to tell ya woody, i dont get ads because i have youtube premium
Same CZcamsrs hate premium subscribers cos they don’t get money from us haha
Eager to see you guys go through the engine bay finishing and paint - hoping Woody is going to crack on with it himself and show us how he's progressing👍👍👍
Sunny coast boys killing it with Kev.. love this build. Like the white engine bay but hot pink would be mint!
Paint it white be a great testament to those wicked Race Works fittings 43 fittings 😊
Envious on how tidy kevvs engine bay is, you guys have done an amazing job 👏
This engine bay should be painted Midnight purple! That would look amazing. I love the plumbing videos, new challenges every time. Feel like I've watched so many of your plumbing videos now I could almost try to make my own lines if required. If only I could get started on my GC8 project.. Any chance you have something like an old GC8 coming to your shed?
Can’t say I’ve purposely watched the adds for any other channel. 👍🏻
Did anyone else sit thru the 15min war game ad? It was epic!!! Almost saving private ryan level good. ps keep the engine bay white , look great and easy to keep clean.....
Paint the bay a light colour. Easy to see leaks.
the hammer squeaks get me every time hahaha.
White! I Like the contrast. Good to meet Al at Motorex last weekend👍🏻. Thanks for the chat
100% keep it white, looks classy and suits the build as well as showing off the build quality and forethought gone into the build. Great job boys…
You should paint the engine bay gold or orange so that when you open the bonnet it lights your face up like John Travolta in Pulp Fiction.
*looks at 2j* "OH yeah, we good" 😂
The Skid Factory +: Engine bay color should be a *_dark signal yellow,_* as in 🟡, or R=248/G=227/B=0 . That color is principally due to the amount of K (blk) surrounding/in the bay. You asked, so that's one older curmudgeon's opinion.
Other than that, a quite good video concerning fuel plumbing install. As such, it gets the standard *_YT_* 'thumbs-up' 👍. Keep 'em coming, guys!
22 race works under the hood.
Love the build guys keep em coming.
The Black Green colour they had on the VR-VS model
Nice work on the fab work guys. Keep it white. Easier to find any leaks as they happen.
ALAN! DRIVE THE CROWN!
Candy apple red, because its a 90s commodore, so give me a good reason why not
I hereby second both motions
All those in favour say “eye”
That's a good looking engine swap, keen to see it run. Love being to skip thru the boring bits and adds.
I think the bay ought to be painted a resplendent shade of red
Nathan should professionally brush paint the engine bay Bunnings grey, a nice metallic silver with a hint of blue and purple would look good too I reckon 👍
Best night of the week. Enjoy your knowledge and how you explain it.
Engine bay….. Gold! When have you ever seen it!!
looks like its gunna be an awesome race car. given the hard yards over the year I can't think of two blokes more deserving of this achievement. good onya !!
Cheers lads, Kevin looks awesome. Really enjoy the technical side of the builds and the concise explanations of what you’re doing.
This is my quickly becoming my favourite car show.
Love the videos guys.
You explain things on point 👌
I especially like the light you shed on engine conversions (namely the 6bt & Duramax patrol videos) and in depth, explain how there's a lot more to a conversion than just engine mounts and trans crossmembers- all the little things, hidden costs etc, that make it a good job or shit job, and just generally whether it's worth the work/cost.
Really enjoy and appreciate this channel.
🍻
The take on British Racing Green on the Jag Coupe at Motorex 2023. 👌👌
Paint it a brilliant white. The beauty of the 2JZ stands out and with the raceworks fittings is so sexy.
The build ive been hoping you both would do since watching from the beginning of TSF. Cant wait to see you holding on for dear life (safely) and having fun on the track. Go Kev. Melbourne comment cut me deep. The weather isnt great but we are the classic car capitol of Australia makes it worth it almost.
Love the build. White is the way to go.
I like the white paint in the engine compartment because it is very bright and you can see any leaks or problems like loose wires or hoses
Ford Pacific Green, the colour of all winners!
Boys I was a massive barb and hose clamp man purely because that's all I knew.. after watching this show each week I'm now a converted man and love the AN stuff and raceworks make it so easy for the back yard bloke havin a crack over a few lemon squashes... keep up the good work and please keep that bay white looks great as is.....
Awesome build guys ! So good to bring a car back to speed that has so much history, and be better then ever 💪.
I think there is 23 fittings in the engine bay and paint it purple, like a anodised kind of purple……
This is such an awesome build, thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Gold, because that's the Heart of The Beast!!!
I’d paint that engine bay ‘Skid Factory Blue’ because after all these years of watching customer builds and revamps, you guys are finally building something for yourselves, this is the build we have all been waiting for!
I'm digging the white. There are no specific reasons, just great contrast
Thanks guys, appreciate your skills and modesty.
Engine bay looks minty fresh
Gunmetal grey will compliment all that hard work nicely! Looking mint boys!!!
You put more thought into the engine breathing system than the supercars did with the gen3.
I'd paint the engine bay Nardo grey. Will make it look nice and tidy. Hide any dirt that may build up over time but still be light enough of a colour to show evidence of oil/coolant leaks. I've done the same in my 180sx build for the above reasons. 👍
Kev's engine bay is looking suuuuper clean. If I had a choice, I'd go full sparkle silver. No other reason besides sparkle and silver is the colour of my 2JZ powered car.
Love the build!
I'd paint it raptor black, its strong, matte finish, flexible, and hides all the imperfections in the body work. Perfect for a working space
Love the content and presentation. I like the approach you have to various builds and budgets. Cheers David
Great stuff as always, Kevin’s coming along nicely
Great build, love all the clear explainations of why you're doing things the way you are. My vote is for a midnight purple engine bay, cos it's a nice colour and it might annoy people being next to a 2JZ.
No question but you guys are legends loving your channel
As a professional 'snake-maker' i greatly enjoy this episode and seeing you doing such a great job!!
I’ve always been a v8 commodore guy but this is very cool and looking forward to seeing it progress and run slick times
It's a race car, so keep it white, it's the most practical, easy to spot/find any leaks etc, it might not be the most exciting but in the pits chasing a problem you'll appreciate it
I'd love to see something flashy! Bright colours - drift car style! Bright green I reckon hahaha. Why not hey, racecars are meant to be flamboyant.
Love ya work lads
Thanks for yet another quality TSF video!!!!!!!!!!
This thing is going to be an absolute weapon 😈
Well thought out and researched plan accompanied with the boys excellent work.
Can’t wait to hear it fire up.
On a race car, if you aren't too concerned about matching exterior etc. I think a white engine bay - easier to spot leaks/ drips or sprays. Also the reflected light, and contrast to the other componts make it easier to see what you are doing, by torch, at 1.30am in the pits trying to fix something for the next day.
Silver, Makes it easy to spot leaks and super easy to clean 👌🏼
Awesome video fellas! loved every minute and always have a laugh at the banter
Drive your crown Al! Get in to it.
You don't need to apologise or to just think that you're talking full-on car heads. There's a few of us punters that are just; punters!. It's great what you do, so keep on doing it. Thanks
Best video yet! Editing to perfection
White would be my suggestion for color. As mentioned, it does suit it, but it is also more practical for the usage of the car. I've started painting a lot of my stuff white (including transmissions), because it makes it really easy to spot an oil leak, and also does an excellent job of bouncing torch-light around dark spaces if/when you are broken down on the side of the road!
Lime green, I just like the colour combo with black
If you aren't going to colour match the engine bay to the exterior, then my vote would be flouro green like the tape on the manifold.
I love that the fuel cell had to be repositioned after you had carefully worked out where it should go, it's uh, relatable lol
I would paint the engine bay metallic flake purple so it looks like the milkyway Kevin off to the moon.
And you have done it all wrong lol because its not in my car.
That line at the end really does need to be remade with a longer bit of heat shrink it would do my head in lol.
In all seriousness boys keep up the good work for a small channel like myself it's something to strive towards thanks again for the great content.
Hello guys maybe about 16 fittings in your engine bay, it might be nice to paint your engine bay nice bright white. Good engine bay colour for a race car, very easy to spot leaks and marks from movement. Good video as always guys.
Wrinkled red ! Al loves it
The engine bay would always look best painted with the rest of the car, being black you could get away with a black with silver/gold metalic mixed in. Love the channel and the car so keen to see this car in action
Paint it silver, nice light colour and not as boring as white
Easier to see oil leaks if spraying around bay
Keep up the good work boys
Love how Kevin is coming together!!! I like the white engine bay but a nice magenta would look good 👌🏽
The bulkhead fitting looks nice.
Toyota pearl white, white suits it, and that pearl is the best looking white !
Go with Simmons gold for the engine bay boys..winner combination 🎉
Top work as always. Absolutely love watching your guys work. I think a candy apple green would look mint and make all the hard work you have put in really pop
Light grey, for the engine bay. Light enough so that you can see any problems, and be able to work, without it being too dark. Bet you guys are fizzing to get Kevin on the track. Keep up the great work, cheers
Holden GTS-R Yellow, known as 'XU3 Yella' a tip to the iconic commodore model roots. Light colour too to show up the 'practical show car' styling.
Winter white. Love ya work lads keep it up.
Paint it blue, a metallic, be a nice contrast👌
Thanks a mill, big Al you have solved a long standing dilemma of mine,
what to do with my VN Commode. I have sat on the back step peering
at it parked in the rain for over 30 years trying work out how to improve
it. You have come up with the answer, CUT IT FULL OF HOLES!
Now where's the bloody angle grinder.
Kevin Eleven is looking good!!!
Holes weigh less than carbon fibre.
Thanks lads. Long time subscriber but can't afford to a Patreon. Keep it coming.
Leave it white, its crisp, clean, has good contrast with the black donk and shiny bits. And its easy to spray.
Al the hose stuff is the same same but there is always new people watching and this could be the first video they watch and if they learn something they will watch more. engine bay should be a sticker bomb with all stickers sent in from the viewers. cheers boys
Cant wait to see this thing completed. Also I'd paint the bay NARDO GREY
Egnine bay would look awesome in red or white to suit the raceworks packaging as the car is already black. Doing a killer job lads, keep up the awesome work!
