- In this video Leah provides an informative guide for veterans about the Compensation and Pension (C&P) exam specifically related to scars. She explains that veterans can get service-connected for scars either on a primary basis (directly incurred during service) or on a secondary basis (related to another service-connected disability). Leah emphasizes the overwhelming nature of the information provided by the VA but assures veterans that it's clearly outlined in the packets they receive, which include details about the exam and the Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ). She walks through the DBQ, highlighting the importance of each section such as scar locations, pain, stability, and how they impact functionality and ability to work. Leah urges veterans to report pain during the exam and explains that the ratings depend on various factors, including the size and characteristics of the scars.

Thank You ! As Always Outstanding Information. 🤙
Looking forward to this one. I have a scar from belly button down to pubic bone from a total abdomen hysterectomy in 1988. No compensation for the unsightly scar. Retired in 2000.
Hello. I was denied in 92’ for an Allergy/Asthma claim. I recently got service-connected for other conditions due to PFAS exposure. Other than submitting my most current medical records, what else do I need to do to submit a supplemental claim for Allergy/Asthma again?
what if I got a scar on my head from getting a glass bottle thrown at my head while I was on active duty but during the weekend off base? I was stationed in 29 Palms and during the incident, I was in Los Angeles with friends and family when a huge bar fight broke out and I was struck with a bottle on my head causing a pretty big scar. I went to the nearest emergency room hospital to get a cat scan and stitches. Till this day the scar is tender and causes pain and even migranes. i never filed because since it happened off base I never thought it was possible. thanks if you read and answer this question,
Enjoy your videos. I am a Vietnam veteran exposed to A.O. I have claims in under the PACT Act for hypothyroidism and another for kidney disease. Do you have any videos on these? I just watched the one about hypertension and I have submitted a supplemental for that this past January. Thank you and please keep up your great work.
Tried acne scars secondary to acne but was denied
? About 6 months ago I filed a claim for sinusitis secondary to rhinitis, got denied but my dumb self filled before I got diagnosed with sinusitis. About a month ago went to ent doctor diagnosed me with sinusitis even recommended a sinus surgery. My question is should a file a new claim for sinusitis under the pact act since I was in Iraq for a year, or do a supplemental claim for the original with new evidence of diagnosis and state not secondary due to the pact act, I know that one would get me more back pay. I just don't know if I can since I tried to claim that as secondary condition and now the pact act allows is as presumptive, thanks for your input.
I lost my belly button in a second surgery for endometriosis. It left a huge scar instead. I’m filing for endometriosis and the initial hysterectomy.
I am currently service connected for residual scars from PFB,my rating is 30%
Ended up getting a cyst right above the buttocks where the tail bone is while on the rifle range. Got it removed and drained. Been out since 05. Its come back about 4 times, but its too embarrassing to get it checked out. Causes discomfort while i drive and sleep sometimes if it gets irritated. Any advice? Thank you.
I submitted a scar claim back in 2010 when I got out. My C-section incision re-opened after surgery. Was given a 0% rating.
Very Helpful. Thank you.
Great video..I have 2 painful scars rated at 10% SC since then had 2 surgeries and now I have 2 more 0% scars...will be claiming in the future for painful scar
I recently had a total hip replacement for service connected in the hip (osteoarthritis and a cartilage tear.). I just completed the C&P for it and the Nurse Practitioner checked me out and measured the scar and 3 ranges of motion. I did initially to let them know for the temp 100% that comes with it but was surprised when she measured the length of my scar.
Hi Leah, i just had c&p exam for arthritic feet, knee, hips and back. All diagnosed and have a documented service injury to foot. They added another c&p exam for a scar from a laminectomy i had 4 mo ago. My concern for all of this is service connection. Maybe im being optimistic, but if they havent sc these things i dont think they would waste the time getting a dbq for my lam scar. And thank you for my nexus and dbq a few mo back. Its still at bva direct review. Stay well
Hello. This is so timing. I got a c and p exam next week for scars.
I have a claim for PFB and scars connected to PFB. The c&p exam is this Thursday. Thanks for this video
I have yet to get a dbq with any packet. Always have to download and use my best guess on which one.
PERFECT 👌
Piece of sheet metal hit me in the face on deployment cutting my nose in half (Deviated Septum) obviously leaving a scar that remains. And also causing allergic rhinitis . When i file for Primary service connection due to deviated septum (and it's in my service treatment records) can i also go ahead and file secondary claim the scar and rhintis? Or have to wait till Septum is established first you think? And thanks!
