Anyone else thought it was cute when Alexis blushed over sharing lunch with Jaiden.
I did. Alexis and Jaden had such good chemistry throughout the series and their romance’s ending was so beautifully sad. Alexis held back her true feelings because she saw Jaden was happy wandering on his own path. She cried, but smiled for Jaden. That’s love.
I certainly did.
It was obvious from the first episode that she's got a thing for him. It's too bad it never fully developed in the end, even though the feeling was mutual.
Maybe they got together in the Manga, hopefully?

Look guys Jaden has this kind of chemistry with everyone, especially once everyone just becomes side characters (as is the Yugioh tradition). The only thing that entertains that idea is bc Jaden is the main character and he’s a boy, and Alexis is a girl and hangs out with him a lot. That’s fucking Disney Channel shallow.
@@shade08538 Sure, just ignore the obvious blushing, close relationship, genuine care, and actual respect between each other. The only way you can see that as Disney Channel shallow, is if you think healthy relationships are shallow. Furthermore, Yu-Gi-Oh has a bad habit of hinting at relationships, but never actually confirming them, which is the actual shallow flaw here. I mean if you keep hinting at romantic relationships, but never actually confirm any of them, it leaves them as shallow teasing, rather than valuable lessons in relationships.
As a kid, I loved this show. As a teenager, I couldn't care less about this show. As an adult I remembered something about GX: it's awesome!
It's such a similar experience for me. As a 5th grader, i loved the books and the show. I fell out of Yu-Gi-Oh in general for a while a year later. Now it's 5 years later and I'm in love with it all over again!! I'm sure with all the messages about teamwork and all that I'll appreciate it even more not that I can process what the hell it actually means.

I never realized it before, but this episode actually explains that the people in this universe actually view the luck of random selection as something that can be improved through natural talent and training. I don’t think this is ever explained anywhere else in the series, resulting in situations that most people just accept as being part of the series where the protagonist draws what they need when they need it. They don’t explain why this is the case, but at least it’s something.
to be fair Jaden didnt win the duel by luck or skill either, he cheated. Jadens card should never have gone to the graveyard, it should have gone to the bottom of the deck after being crushed, thus rendering its graveyard ability useless and causing Jaden to lose the game. so lets be honest its all still a bit up in the air haha.
Drawler's effect only works on monsters in attack mode. Wroughtweiler was in defense mode.
the GX manga also explains that people can have naturally good draws. Judai is described multiple times by his classmates and teachers that his draws get stronger and stronger as the duels get closer to their climax
I think its actually explained a few times, like with the Pharoah at the Battle City climax. Other cases, like the special draws in Zexal, are the result of supernatural powers.

An interesting thought I had on Miracle Draw's failure; Daimon wasn't "in tune" with nature, letting his mind palace show him the next card. He WANTED Shield Crush and tried to will it into existence; In the end, he went against his own philosophy
I can't argue with that and in yugioh there are players with unique gifts and aren't even aware of it or so intuned that they use it subconsciously and Daimon was one of those people but like you said he wanted that card didn't let the card come to him

This episode made me think of an OC for GX, a Slifer Red weirdo nicknamed "Garbage Pail" that's always getting in trouble for dumpster diving near the higher dorms for leftovers, even after Crowler offered to just give him the stuff directly, he had a "the hunt sweetens the reward" mentality about it.
His deck was based around buffing his cards through the graveyard, a few of his ace cards were Exchange of Spirit, Chaos Necromancer, a few of the Maju-series cards, Card Destruction, and Foolish Burial.
He treated the sandwich thing as an all you can eat buffet because the normal meals had too small portions.
Jaiden has a bit of a gambling addiction. It seems when literally anything happens, he is willing to bet the outcome on a Duel

Yeah, like against Crowler in episode 1, the effect did 3000 damage which was equal to the destroyed Ancient Gear Golem's attack
I think that was an error in the writing and scripting. The actual effect deals damage equal to the destroyed monsters ATK. These goofups occur at time in the show. But even if it was half, that's 1000 damage to Damon, which meant he still lost.

Well, the dub actually changed the contents for most of the sandwiches. In the original, all the ones we know of were still edible and non-harmful if you didn't have allergies, it's just that everyone wanted the Golden Eggwich because it was viewed as the best. Jaden actually got a sweet chestnut sandwich in the original.

The cards to be printed are: Drawler (monster), Card Loan (magic), Drawber (magic), Miracle Draw (trap) and Half Goblin (monster)

Those cards will never be printed and I highly doubt anyone would use it, if they do, they will have to be very lucky for the cards to be beneficial towards them.
Or in the case of Drawber and Miracle Draw, cheese it with Convulsion of Nature so they know their opponent's top card, which would just be unhealthy. Drawler could realistically be printed, but unless you buffed its point gain to 1000 per card, it would just be awful, and even if you did, it would be mediocre at best.

Jaden would probably still win but on his next turn since he could attack Doran and its ATK would be enough to finish Damon

Ok, how the hell does Jaden always have Avian as his first move? Like, legit 95% of his first move is Avian. How does he always pull him out first? Do they never shuffle that deck?
To be fair at the last season (the one 4Kids never dubbed) there's one Card Spirit, Honest, that talks about how there's a bond between monster and duelist that makes the more bonded monsters to come when the duelist needs.
At the time the most bonded monster was Neos, but Judai / Jaden dont have him in the deck yet. And his favorite HERO was a fusion using Avian (Flame Wingman).
That kinda makes sense.

Without that explanation the other thing I was going to say is that Jaiden pretty much always has not only a monster in his hand but usable cards at that, like its never something he cant make a move with turn one like call of the haunted, extra rations, polymerisation with no monsters etc

That's why he play multiples of Future Fusion, Other Dimension Sarcofagus, almost all his other cards have draw or search effects as secondary effects (Cyber Phoenix, Sarcophagus, Future Fusion, that card that draws 2 when banished, etc.).
Zane / Ryo has a deck where half of it combos into drawing a Cyber Dragon or Fusion Card at some point, so it's a lot less about luck.
(He does push a handfull of them in the most iconic duels, tho.)

Hang on flamewingman's special effect dealt half of drawler's attack points as damage but in episode 1 when he's against crowler, flamewingman's special effect dealt all of gear golden attack points as damage to Crowler. Does flamewingman just hate Crowler or what?
