    Great speculation. I have given some though to what breed Boadicea is and my first thought was an Adilusian followed by Turkmen Mustang and Throughbred.
    Given what you put forth and keeping with what is in the game I still think the Adilusian is a strong contender but I'm going to say Dutch warm blood, Turkmen then Throughbred.
    I think Arthur is practical and would favour function over speed alone and most likely had a breed the others did not unless it was the same as Hosea given the relationship with them. I also suspect he would not have had a horse as showy as an Arabian which I feel the Andalusian is.
    On another note I have to agree even fresh out of the stable the Ardennes is amazingly brave. I pulled one out of Saint Denis that I had gotten but not ridden yet. Right out of the stable an NPC walked into us and started shooting... que endless cops. I got swamped and ran into the swamps during a high time of aligators. The chase lasted for several minutes with bullets flying and gators chomping.
    The Ardenns did not throw me once.
    Same horse take 2 in Saint Denis. Still level 1. Just paid the bounty and went to the trapper. I ran into some one on the way out. The level 1 bond horse STILL came to me with bullets flying and cops everywhere and we lot the cops in the swamps again. Without getting bucked.
    I love the bravery of the Ardennes. They and the Adilusian are my personal favorites along with the grulo Mustang.
    Keep up the great work :)

      I've had problems with the ardennes, it threw me with the rescuing micah mission, the Dutch Warmblood however has been good to me, I personally did my first playthrough with the Arabians, and I'll never use one for story mode again, I do however have a red Arabian online that has treated me well, I'm only using it until I get the moonshiner horse.

    • @gioc2512
      @gioc2512 Před 4 lety +1

      Well the 3 best horse breeds in the game are Arabians, Turkomans and Thoroughbreds. Dutch has an Arabian, Hosea a Turkoman so it only makes sense imo that Arthur would have a Thoroughbred considering he is one of the original 3 members of Dutch's gang

    • @Obsidianoak
      @Obsidianoak Před 4 lety

      @@gioc2512 True. A very good point and i have considered this however; all main top gang member horses have a good health stat which is the TBs weakest atribute. I like the Through bread for Aurthur but, I think given the namesake for one Bodacia would have been a healthy horse and likely a warhorse or war horse hybrid.
      Also remember Buell? His stats are above all other warm bloods.
      Like Charles paint is stronger than any other paint maybe Arthur's horse had higher stats. Also my theory was not as much about stats as the link/ representation of the associated rider. I see Aurthur as more cool headed than a race type.

    I feel similarly. I’ve always imagined Boadicea being a darker colour, a black colouring or darker brown tones. Not sure how far he’d go with patterns, since he probably wouldn’t prefer anything too flashy, but I don’t think he’d particularly mind it either. Definitely not a stout horse nor one that spooks easy, so an Ardennes, Andalusian, or Turkoman is probably a good bet. Ardennes and Andalusian for the reasons in your video, obviously. The Turkoman because they’re pretty good at standing their ground when you first buy them, they fit Arthur’s stature well, and they’re a good fit for getting out of tough situations since they’re so lean and can slip through trees easier than a thicker horse. Over all, I appreciate how you handled this topic, since most other CZcamsrs who theorize and speculate about Boadicea almost always go willy nilly with their own opinions and often don’t use any real reason, whereas you went with what made the most sense both from a practical point and a more story-based point of view.

    Great points. If I had to bet on it would probably be the special edition thoroughbred. Hosea has a Turk and is the eldest. Dutch has an Arabian which is a descendant of the Turk and so is the Thoroughbred. It’s also a one of a kind horse and a unique breed like the other gang horses. It looks right for Arthur. Stats are disappointing though.
    I read another theory that it could be the tiger striped Mustang since it’s only found in the west like the other gang horses in the tumbleweed stable. It’s unique brave loyal and wild just like Arthur.
    Strong points you made in the video and well done. One could speculate it’s a horse from the strawberry stable since it is in between blackwater and colter. Where he most likely lost Boadicea. It’s peculiar the dark bay Andalusian is the only horse available there. It’s a war horse that fits the name and definitely fits Arthur. Also no other gang member has that breed. this might be a year to late, but i think that Boadicea could've been the black, or red chestnut turkoman from Red Dead online. The reason why i think one of these horses is Boadicea is because in his journal he had the little blackwater saloon sketch with a fully black horse, and the black coat turkoman from Online is pretty much all black (i believe it does have a little white spot on the snout tho), and really does fit in with the sturdiness that arthur in my eyes would've looked for. As for the red chestnut coat the only thought for why it could've been Arthur's horse is because of the warrioress you've mentioned numerous times whose name was Boadicea, and i believe you've also mentioned she had red hair, and so in that case maybe the name insparation came for him because of the boldness of the turkoman and because of similar hair. In my mind it makes sense for Arthur's pre-game horse to be unavailable to us, and that's why i storngly believe that one of those turkomans from Red Dead online is in fact, Boadicea.

    My notion is that Boadicea was an Andalusian. To me it just fits her namesake, a brave war horse named after a warrior queen. For me, it checks off all the prerequisites of a breed that shares traits with Arthur. The Andalusian is known for its bravery, intelligence, and loyalty. Arthur himself shares the name of the most famous of all kings and what better horse for him to ride than a breed that was once ridden only by royals and is known for it’s lineage and nobility.

    The idea of the dimple Fox Trotter being Bodicea and not being able to get here until the epilogue. I'm not sure if Arthur ever specifically said she died. In Armadillo you can buy the horses of the dead gang members, the possible lore reason being Javier/Bill sold them to the stable when making their escape to their respective hideouts. With all this in mind, I think it is possible that Bodicea was gunned down, nursed back to health, then held by the stable only to be possibly bought by John at the end of the game. Not sure if that ones a dude though

  • @ellinoor572
    @ellinoor572 Před 2 lety

    I think they didn't explain Boadicea's looks for a reason, they probably want us to think of a horse the player would think of as majestic and strong. I definetly don't think they were thinking of a specific horse in the game as they made that scene. It's still fun to speculate though! In my mind it's an Ardennes or mustang. They're both brave and good in gunfights. I also prefer Arthur on the bigger and "thicker" horses if that makes any sence.
    I also think arthur would prefer the health, stamina and braveness over speed and acceleration, but that might also just be because of my playstyle.

    I think of Boadicea as maybe a horse that John and Arthur can't get, wether an entire different breed or coat. I believe Arthur pointed out the MFT in that one stranger mission maybe because he saw it in blackwater, and not that it looked like Boadicea. Maybe it was something like a American Quarter Horse (Why do I think this? Nowadays their good All-around horses, and are found in the New Austin area in the first game, so it wouldn't make sense for Arthur to be able to get one if they were just in New Austin.) I also think it could a mix breed of some sort, That of maybe a Race-War horse that was a Silver dapple pinto, which could also be how Arthur recognized the horse, because he didn't say exactly it was a MFT, he just said "That, is a Silver dapple pinto." And just because he knows the color, Doesn't mean 100% he's referring to the Silver Dapple Pinto MFT. He could be referring to a whole other breed, or just the color in general. Maybe Boadicea could be a Througherbred with higher stats than all the others. Hopefully we can learn in the future what Boadicea is, or was. (Am I the only one who thinks theres a SLIM chance that someone in the gang took Boadicea, or maybe she was lost in the Blackwater Massacre and could be one of the horses John can buy?)

  • @dalmallama4634

    I imagine boadicea as a black Andalusian. Because it would make sense.
    The old guard think about it. Dutch has a white horse. Ande hosea has a grey horse. And what do you get when you mix black and white? Grey. And also it is just in between with sizes of the horse. Not as big as silver dollar yet not as small as the count.

  •  Před 2 lety

    I was messing around with cheats recently then decided to do the "Run! Run! Run!" Cheat. Then a Thoroughbred spawned, almost black and I didn't recognise it, not to toot my own horn but I'm extremely familiar with any and every horse in rdr2 so if she was openly available outside of the cheat I'd know. The reason this Thoroughbred was so eye-catching was that she was a "black chestnut". She had a black mane and tail and was almost black with a faint redish twinge and had no white markings. I personaly firmly believe this was boadicea.
    Reasons I believe this:
    -she is only available with the cheat or in ultimate edition
    -we have reason to belive she is almost black with a red twinge
    -we also have reason to belive she is a Thoroughbred
    EDIT: (I'm aware that this horse is available online however I'm only discussing the story mode side of her in this comment)

Arthur is kind of a big guy, one of the bigger men in camp. So, he looks a little ridiculous on a near pony sized horse. However, I’ve never had issues with the Arabians fear of predators or gun fights, mine have always been just the same as any other horse. But weirdly I do have fear issues with the Fox Trotters... From stats perspective, I believe Arthur would have a horse which has kind of balanced stats of health stamina and speed. 2 breeds comes to mind, Turkoman and Missouri Fox Trotter
    Turkoman having best health stat which might be suitable for gunfights and having respectable speed and stamina. Missouri Fox Trotter being faster with more stamina than Turkoman but frailer than it, although still respectable health. Both of them are brave horses when in combat. From stat perspective, rose bay or black Arabian could also be considered but I don't think Arthur would ride same breed as Dutch. It would be better if Dutch's was the unique breed from gang perspective.

Arthur needs the race to get away from the law and bounty hunters and he needs the war traits to deal with all the fights and wild animal attacks.

    Boudicca was a welsh name and Arthur probably chose the name due to the fact he has welsh heritage

    I think it’s the perlino andulsuian because at first it was a glitch horse so I thought it was a horse that was supposed to be boedicia
