I'm a day late but here!
I like the pocket rule gizmo!
Thanks so much for watchign Sean! I think that may have been my favorite as well! :)
Never, ever stroke your goose at the table. Happy holidays, Brian.
Haha! I love it. Funny how a little phrase like that sounded so normal in the 30's and is so weird today! :) Happy holidays to you as well Paul!
Flynndogg just recently discovered your channel love it especially the obscure tools that you find and review keep it up!! and have a GREAT HOLIDAY
Thanks so much Richard! I really appreciate it! I love finding those weird tools tool! Have a great holiday as well! :)
Love the pat Morita clip 👌
Haha! That was from love boat believe it or not! :). Thanks for watching Wealro!
Another great video as always some great Christmas ideas thanks for sharing as always Brian. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years. Keep up the great work.
Thanks so much Jim! :) I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas as well!
that trim 45 is clever because its absolutely INFURIATING trying to keep the tape measure from falling off the trim when marking a long board. i wish theyd make a version for crown somehow. It also keeps you from burning an inch....and forgetting to add it back lol
Yes! I thought I was the only one. Reallty kind of a design flow on that. Probably should have mentioned that in the video. Thanks so much for sharing and watching nobiazcustomerinc!
Thanks for another fun video, I did add the , Woodworking Ruler Positioning Adjuster Scribing Locator, Ruler Stops Fences Woodworking Scribing Steel Ruler Positioning Block Angle Line Scriber Locator Woodworking Equipment thingie to my wish list. Now I just need to see if I can find that metal ruler that I can never find when I'm looking for it. Well my coffee is about empty, have a great weekend and thanks again.
Is that what they call that thing!?! I've been way off calling it that nubbin for years! :) Thank you so much for watchign Pat! Hope you have a great Sunday. Need to get caffeinated up myself!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork I am sure the marketing department worked many long hard hours coming up with that name.
@@patcross5799 :)
The Trim 45 is awesome. It only takes 4 or 5 cuts to have it become second nature. After that the entire trimming process goes much faster. Pro's that do trim every day would probably scoff at it. For those who only do trim once in a while it's helpful.
The XMLEI level is pretty cool.
If I recall correctly, this is the 3rd digital distance meter you have reviewed. It's the third time you haven't demonstrated accuracy by comparing the reading to a known distance for reference. And it's now the 3rd time someone has pointed that out. None of the bells and whistles mean anything if it doesn't measure accurately, which we still don't know.
Bauer trim routers frequently go on sale for under $50.00. They're not DeWalt either, but they're a known brand with good reviews. I have a customized base plate on mine, and it works great.
Thank you so much for sharing! I agree with you I probably need to show some testing on the accuracy. I guess in my mind that doesn't make for good content, but I have seen nothing in any of the laser distance meters I have looked at that raise any red flags. But maybe a detailed analysis on a few of these might make for a good video. Thank you so much for sharing. Very good points!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork A detailed review on those tools would be a good video, I think. However, for a multi tool video extensive demonstrations aren't really necessary. It only requires a couple of readings in comparison to measured distances to exhibit a tools precision.
Testing accuracy is always good content. Actually, it's essential. I know you know how important it is, because you demonstrate the accuracy of every single square you review. If they're not accurate, they're next to useless. The same is true for every measuring tool whether physical or digital.
@@ST-0311 Great point, you are 100% correct, I like seeing that type of content too, so maybe I need to do more like that. I just assume everyone will fall asleep! :) Thank you so much for sharing this and I appreciate your feedback!
Do you make house calls? I’d love to watch you using that first item at my place.
Haha! I know right :) Thank you so much for watching Louis!
The trim 45 would be helpful if you do a lot of trim work. Especially the measuring slots.
Yes it would Ken! I was pretty impressed with it and actually used it again yesterday, and remembered the steps pretty well. Definitely a pretty cool tool to have around. Thanks so much for watching and happy holidays! :)
Vertical legs on a door can be done without measuring. Install the top piece, Cut the 45s on the sides, turn upside down with the point on the floor, mark at top of head piece, then cut square on those sides.
@@kenerickson4923 Excellent points Ken! Thanks for sharing! have a great weekend!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork I learned that trick from an old timer working at habitat house.
@@kenerickson4923 Oh nice, what a great way to do some great service work and learn a few things!
👍👍
Thanks for watching!
you are doing a fantastic job on the videos. Been watching you for a long time given me many options for Christmas. You have those shirts custom made, love the saw stopCAN I GET ONE 11:04 11:04 G 11:04 GG 11:04 11:04 11:04 11:04 11:04 11:04 11:0 11:04 11:04 11:04
Thanks so much Stephen! I get all my shirts off of amazon typically! :) Good luck with the sawstop!!
Instead of comparing the generic router to DeWalt one, compare it to the Makita one f
That would be a great idea! I wish I had the makita router! :)
I enjoy your clips... But why record with what I assume is a green screen? It's a bit distracting. Why don't you just record in your shop?
No green screen is used in the video, just in the very beginning clip. The rest is in my shop!
It just occurred to my why would somebody need a pocket rule or a nubbin if they have a combination square… hmm
Great great point Nick! That's my preferred tool as well! :)
Dogg, man way too many steps to remember. That's exactly what we were thinking. All that talk about "trim' reminded us of when we were young men out there chasing it. I'm glad I'm not a DIY guy, that Milescraft thing would have worn us out. Paolini pocket rule is the holy grail. I'm going to beat Santa to a pulp if he doesn't bring it this year. Though I was talking to his helper today, and fingers crossed. Merry Christmas, Dogg man.
Haha! Hopefully you've been a good boy this year. I'm sure he'll come through for you! :) Hope you caught that call out about you in the video. I was referring to you when I said those who enjoy a good steak! :) Have a great weekend and merry christmas as well!!!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork Been as good as I can be (I don't know if that is as good as it takes). You know that we enjoy steak. But, i do want to caution you...please be careful when setting your nubbin'.
@@themeat5053 I'm always careful with my nubbin :)
Regarding that first "tool," that has got to be to biggest joke POS thing I've seen in a long time. If a carpenter can't measure and install window trim, he has no place calling himself a carpenter. I've hung hundreds of windows and doors in my carrier, and if I showed up on the job with that thing, I'd get laughed right off the site!
I get it, this tool is probably more suited for someone that doesn't do it everyday like myself. Thanks for sharing and watching w9jim!
Good thing it wasn't made to be used by professional carpenters.
Well, Negative Nancy, I would guess that most of the people watching this video are not the expert, experienced, professional, perfect carpenter that you are. Go watch a different video, you do realize you have that option, don't you?
I always enjoy watching your videos. However, I gotta say that since you improved the lighting in your new shop, your face is almost completely washed out.
Thank you for sharing this. It is not the lighting it is my new video editing software I'm usuing. Still trying to dial in the settings. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
first im a loyal follower but all i see is cheap tools and you recomending these tools to your followers you say it's a wood working channel but very little of making is ever happening i have got a few tools that you have suggested and they were junk but that is ok the thing is dont call your channel our yourself as a wood worker when you don't build anything except just offerer tools which your getting paid for if not im not so sure how you can afford all these tools unless they are being sent to u i'm not trying to be a ass but im just saying
I put out 3 videos a week. Project videos take typically 3 times as long to film than tool reviews that is why you see more of these videos. I had a build video last week. Sure I could do project videos more often and I intend to. But Its very difficult to do so with my current schedule.
