- On Sunday 23rd June 2024, the Southern Downs Steam Railway conducted a tour using their Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive, DH45 and historic carriages to convey passengers from Stanthorpe to Toowoomba.
This video starts at Warwick, where the train was transported empty to Stanthorpe where the passengers boarded. After departing Stanthorpe, the train proceeded through the Granite belt passing the small towns of The Summit, Thulimbah, Cottonvale and Dalveen before descending the Silverwood range and arriving into Warwick for a brief stop for a change of train crew.
Departing Warwick, the train continued North through the Darling Downs stopping only briefly at Clifton before making an arrival into the historic Toowoomba Railway station in the evening to conclude a long day onboard the train.
Great vid. Luv it coming round the bend at 4:08
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
What's happening with the Stanthorpe to Wallangarra part of the line? I've been on that section a number of times, but it was closed during the recent Apple and Grape festival.
The Queensland Government closed the Stanthorpe to Wallangarra section earlier this year due to the burnt out bridges.
@@paul1089 I thought it had strategic value and federal funding.

Axle boxes are due back, but I haven't heard anything solid.
