  • On Saturday 25th September 2021, the Southern Downs Steam Railway ran another excursion to Toowoomba in conjunction with the Carnival Of Flowers. This run also served as a positioning movement in readiness for a full day of local steam train shuttles to Wyreema.
This video showcases the whole day from light up in the morning until the fire was dropped in the Container Terminal in Toowoomba Yard.

Hey Paul sorry for commenting twice, was the train difficult to beat to Lyndhurst Lane from Campbells Gully and then to Toolburra? I see they are around the corner from each other. When I do the Clifton chase I’m just going to set the route to go to every spot and if we miss it we will just go to the next spot.

It is possible. I filmed those scenes without a tripod, so as soon as the train passed I got back in the car and continued on. I was not waiting long at Lyndhurst Lane, probably 1 minute.

i especially liked how he put that metal plate with the handle in between the doors to help keep the smoke from coming into the cab. really neat

The blind door is very useful in reducing the amount of smoke that enters the cab while lighting up until such time as there is enough steam to operate the blower.

I like the whole fire up procedure paul, it's really fascinating to watch how different organizations have different ways of firing an engine up from a cold boiler to full pressure. keep up the awesome work!!!
