- On Saturday 11th March 2023, the Southern Downs Steam Railway operated a Driver Train run to Clifton and return. This was to get 4 drivers signed off as competent in driving and firing steam locomotive AC16 221A.
This video starts off in the Warwick Railway Precinct and follows the train during its journey to Clifton and then returning to Warwick.
How good!
So good to see something other than a C17 for a change.
AC16 221A did very well, I'm still waiting for 974 to return
awesome video paul, great to see 221a stretching her legs again. 😁
Honestly, I never thought I'd see it out this way, but here she is. They'll be plenty more videos of her before she's returned to QR.
@@paul1089 fantastic, can't wait to see them.
What's happening to C17 971 at the start of the video
The maintenance personnel are waiting on parts to arrive before a trial fitting can be made.
How will it take
@@andrewmcneish5309 I think they are aiming to have the loco operational by June or July.
Is c16 221a on loan or is it there permanently at Warwick
@Scott Cannell It was supposed to be on loan for a couple of months, but it's been returned back to the Ipswich Workshops following a derailment over some points. C17 974 is at Southern Downs Steam Railway at present and has just finished a 3 day long weekend tour to Goondiwindi.
