This is one of my favorites. Watching this fight as a kid, it had me on the edge of my seat. I first watched this fight in spanish, but I have yet to see a disappointing dub version.
It was great seeing them meet again in super as Piccolo and 17 showed great respect for each other.
I don't think you noticed but, after fusing with Kami in Kakarot, Piccolo gained a transformation called True Namekian Fusion that gives him a similar aura to the one in this fight. Idk if the game automatically had you locked in the form during the 17 fight or not tho
Well, more than transformation as we understand in the Dragon Ball series, its just a new permanent state.

The saga in anime is going to get even better. This fight is unfortunately the last one where piccolo got his justice.
he got a bit of a redemption in Super, where he was the most tactical fighter in an event whose name I won't say for spoilers, and he was strong enough to hold his own against a lot of other fighters, except for the obvious heavy-hitters

The theme that plays when piccolo powers up is the dragon theme. And I guess it makes sense since it's Kami that created the dragon balls, and he's fused with Piccolo at that moment

This is probably one of my favorite and the most underrated fights in DBZ in my opinion, it's amazing.
For some reference the androids are really cyborgs if it helps you understand what they are. They are mechanically enhanced humans, it's why they bleed and don't act like robots. Android 16 on the other hand is a full robot.

The first combo attack picolo did to 17 caught him off guard and he couldn't find momentum and track his move patterns. That's what happens when you loose your guard. This fight is entertaining.

this theme is called "The dragon theme" it plays in the kamehameha battle between gohan and cell too, and some other times in the show. Prob the most intense theme in the show. You can search up piccolo's theme on yt and see if you notice them playing it in the show

@Aimin About the music. In the anime you saw they used the American dub OST in the 2000s. The music composer is called Bruce Faulconer. One of the main reasons why DBZ kakarot, the game, don't use Faulconer score anymore is due to copyright issues between Faulconer and Funanimation in 2007. They had a falling out, and its not 100% clear what really went behind the scenes, but by the end Faulconer and Funanimation went their separate ways. Forcing Funanimation to re-use the Japanese Score for the rest of the series, rather its DBZ kai, or any future DBZ games.

If you like seeing piccolo in action I definitely recommend checking out his fight against goku from the very end of og dragon ball. It’s long but a really good back and forth like this. Also Gives a lot more context to the beginning of his character arc when he was still a major antagonist and why it was such a big deal for him and goku to team up at the beginning of Z (which kakarot really glosses over)
Makes krillins comment about vegeta pulling a piccolo funnier too since he pretty much was that evil prior to spending time with gohan
