You mentioned Brown Eyed Girl and I'm crying again. My husband ( together since 1975) just passed this week. He used to sing Brown Eyed Girl to me. If I was feeling down or bad about myself, or if he was feeling romantic he'd just start singing it to me. Thank you bringing another great memory to mind. Love yall sweet young folk.
I'm so sorry for your loss. He sounded like a wonderful, romantic man. A rare breed. Blessings to you and your broken heart.
Im sorry for your loss sharor . May he rest in peace. Condolences to the family
I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my wife last November. She was the love of my life and it's still tough sometimes. I hope that as time passes you will find his love in your memories.
@@glenngotling657 Thank you Glen and my condolences to you for your loss. All week I've been remembering the good stuff. We had such good stuff, that we'll is deep. Good times, bad times we shared it all. That's the hardest part he was always there , all I had to do was reach out for hugs, reassurance. Now I find myself starting to reach out to tell him something and I can't touch him, so I just talk. I miss him so much. I could really use him singing that song to me.
So sorry Sharon. Virtual hugs. I've lost so many this last year, I totally get it.
And that's why Van is THE MAN. He's a world treasure. This is the title cut from his album, Moondance, which also contains Into the Mystic, Caravan, Crazy Love and And It Stoned Me, all incredible cuts. I'd suggest the songs St. Dominic's Preview and Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven When You Smile), two of my favorites from his St. Dominics Preview Album. Also from his Avalon Sunset album, Whenever God Shines His Light and Have I Told You Lately. Both are unforgettable as well. It's so good to see you appreciate Van, it truly makes me smile. Great reaction y'all!
Great song selections!
@@maryannturton9830 Thanks, it's always great to see Van get some love!
Caravan is excellent
Great list and if I may humbly add a few to add to that mood rolling: "Higher Than the World," "Philosopher's Stone" and "Someone Like You."
I would add Tupelo Honey to the list....but, what a list!
I'm so glad to see young people enjoying Van Morrison. He was a fantastic talent. He gave us so many terrific songs.
And he ain't done yet.
Aye....still alive. Still working.
Poet, singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist...Van Morrison can do it all! I love the jazzy composition of "Moondance."
He won a Nobel prize for poetry.
@@shanenolan8252 no he didn't. Bob Dylan won a Nobel Prize for Literature.
@@malingor7042 yes bob Dylan did but so did van Morrison. Years later that bob Dylan.
@@shanenolan8252 he absolutely didn't!! He's won lots of awards but not a Nobel.
@@malingor7042 i remember seeing a news segment years ago . Why is it so hard for you to believe ?
“Into the Mystic” is my FAVORITE Van Morrison song...❤️🎶
Was just goin to say that!!
Mine too. It’s the first song on my list of songs to be played at my celebration of life.
see their reaction to that song here- czcams.com/video/_h6MDeP6tBE/video.html
Mine too! Favorite song ever!!
I love Into the Mystic soooo much
Days Like This
And It Stoned Me
Tupelo Honey
This is such a great song, so jazzy, beautiful piano, flutes, guitars all coming together. Makes you feel like you're in a jazz lounge. Another classic by Van.
Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
Yes. 100%. All great suggestions!
Days Like This!!! Yes!
He wrote this as an instrumental. I am so glad he added words. Bass line is so cool.
I saw Van live for the first time in 1998 in Belfast. I didn't really know much about him, but he was touring on a double bill with my favorite artist, Bob Dylan. They alternated nights headlining and Belfast is Van's hometown, so of course he went second that night.
I bought my ticket, hopped on a train in Cork, Ireland (where I was an exchange student), arrived in Belfast, and wandered around looking for the Botanic Gardens (stopping occasionally at news agents for directions). Was about the fifth person in line when they opened the gates.
Got a spot on the front rail about 15 feet audience left (stage right). Saw Dylan and his band play a great set, including the rare "This Wheel's on Fire" and the ultra-rare "The Roving Blade". Then Van came out and played for *hours* with a full band--he was not going to leave his hometown without putting on a show!
I gained a new and substantial appreciation for him that night. And I even have a couple of photos from just. that. close!
This is what I'd call "smokey jazz" - the sort of thing you'd hear in a pokey, basement bar at 3am with a blue haze just below the ceiling.
Gives me that picture too, dark, smoky, and dam good music 🙋🏻♀️
Love Van. "Someone Like You", "Tupelo Honey" and "Have I Told you Lately" are three of my favorites as well as the ones you've covered. Van is a poet.
There’s no song like “Brown Eye Girl “we would always think he was a poet and knows it! This one took him over the top! “Moondance “was a soulful rendition of a song in which we all loved!
I second the vote for Tupelo Honey....simply magic. "Jackie Wilson Said" is another favorite. "Got to Go Back", "What Would I Do" a Ray Charles cover, "Raglan Road"...the 1973 live version of "Cypress Avenue" I could go on and on and on....
Another vote for Tupelo Honey! And I only discovered the song in the last 10 years. Love it.
J&A might be interested to know Rod Stewart had one of his last big hits with Van's Have I told You Lately.
@@ChrisW-17 I would love to hear Rod Stewart cover Van's Tupelo Honey!!
Another vote for Tupelo Honey, and Someone Like You.
Moondance is a song I can not live without. Finally, someone reacted to it.
This is a special song for me as well.
It’s incredible all these many years it touches me so deep
This is, for me, easily one of the best composed songs I've ever heard in any genre of music. Van Morrison's best song with a killer jazz vibe. Never get tired of hearing this classic.
So much great music from Van Morrison...
I think you would enjoy "Bright Side of the Road," "Domino," and "Days Like This."
All great ones!
Van’s music has surpassed the test of time!
You could literally do Van Morrison songs for a year and never get bored!🎙
You MUST hear songs off of Van's 1968 album Astral Weeks. He never did anything like this again. A one-off. Fusion of jazz, folk, Celtic, pop, classical, all rolled into one magnificent album. Standout tracks are:
"Astral Weeks"
"Sweet Thing"
"Cyprus Avenue"
"The Way Young Lovers Do"
"Madame George"
"Ballerina"
By far, Van Morrison's greatest achievement, IMHO. 🙏✌️❤️✌️🙏
I love crazy fusion albums that are unexpected, so thanks for this!
Not only my fave VM album but it's in my Top 10 all time.
Van Morrison is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist. His recording career spans nearly seven decades. He can play guitar, harmonica, keyboards & saxophone. In the mid 60's he was in the band "THEM" & their biggest hits were "Gloria", "Baby Please Don't Go", "Here Comes The Night" & "Mystic Eyes". Van Morrison later went solo & has had lots of hits such as "Tupeleo Honey", "It Stoned Me" , "Have I told You Lately", "Crazy Love", "Domino", "Jackie Wilson Said" etc.
It Stoned Me , Amber will like this .
Van Morrison is CLASS. Simple as that. Love this track.
Every part of this song is fantastic from Van's vocals to the horns, percussion, flute and bass line but it's the piano that has always grabbed me and just took me away. I absolutely love this song. It's one of my all time favorite jazz songs.
Van Morrison is awesome. His nickname in the music industry is The Belfast Cowboy. In this song, the flute was just so haunting. Beautiful
Moondance was a big song in the summer of 1970. I was heading into my Senior year in High school. My friends and I had a playground we hung at. The nights were Boones farm apple wine, a couple of joints and the radio playing the music we loved. I ✌♥️🎶🎶
His voice is very distinct,
It is what sets him apart from the others.
Van Morrison has endless list of wonderful songs. There is in CZcams absolutely fantastic live concert from Montreaux 1980, from where I would listen the songs Troubadeurs, Satisfied and Tupelo Honey. Other beautiful songs: Tir Na Nog, Foreign Window, Aryan Mist, Street Choir, Call Me up in Your Dreamland, St. Dominics Preview. From the Moondance album: Glad Tidings, It Stoned Me, Caravan.
I love Van Morrison's album with the traditional Irish music band The Chieftains called Irish Heartbeat. The song "Carrickfergus" brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Also love "Star of the County Down." Such a great album.
Van Morrison was lead singer for a group called “Them” and their song Gloria
Van Morrison (like Boz Skaggs) are known for their verbal gymnastics and vocal abilities. They are just as good today as they go years ago! Van has a long concert video that’s just a couple years old and he nailed every note. It’s the impeccable “timing”! 👏👍❤️
Tupelo Honey , Tupelo Honey , Tupelo Honey . My 3 fav Van songs :) Also , "Whenever God Shines His Light" is also S tier ✌🏼❤🎶
I went to a jazz festival in the Avalon ballroom on Catalina Island. It’s a yearly event. What amazing musicians and performers. Don’t miss an opportunity to check out a jazz band live.
Oh yea🎶🎶🎶😎😎😎 y'all need to check out his performance in the documentary by Martin Scorsese "The Last Waltz!" Awesome 🔥🔥🔥
Van Morrison is amazing. Check out "Domino", "Tupelo Honey", "Jackie Wilson Said" and "Cypress Avenue"
I'll add my name to Tupelo Honey as well
Speaking as a huge fan, you can't go wrong with Van Morrison. "Tupelo Honey" is tied to so many memories, it ranks highly among my personal favorites, but so do many of the other songs of his already suggested in the comments. 😉♥
Van the Man did a brilliant version of his song "Caravan" with The Band during the great concert film "The Last Waltz". Check it out. My person al favorite VM song is "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You". It is WYSIWYG. Just what you expect done perfectly.
“Have I Told You…” was the first dance with my bride at my wedding 32 years ago.
Probably one of the best music videos on CZcams
You have to do the song "And It Stoned Me" by Van
"Tupelo Honey" and "Crazy Love" are two Van Morrison songs I think you'll enjoy.
The Irish troubadour. He is a legend!
A fantastic singer with hits spanning muliple decades! Great reaction!
You should try the band Van Morrison was in before going solo.
The band is called 'Them', try the song Gloria.
I love "Them".
I have the original album.
Them also did a killer cover of Bob Dylan's "It's All Over Now Baby Blue."
I like his song 'Real Real Gone.' It's one of Van Morrison's more upbeat songs. You'll enjoy the horns too.
I love van morrisons Days like these.
Van Morrison ( full name George Ivan Morrison) is an Irishman from Belfast and once said "The Irish are the blacks of Europe." I think he was expression his relation and affiliation with soul music and how it so often arises from great suffering.
My favorite Van The Man song, this song draws the picture of a 5 piece combo on a small stage in the back of a smokey bar
100% jazz club vibes
Thank you for more Van THE MAN Morrison - give 'HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELY I LOVE YOU', 'SOMEONE LIKE YOU', CYPRESS AVE (live version from "IT'S TOO LATE TO STOP NOW", or LISTEN TO THE LION, IN THE GARDEN - All great tunes.
Crazy Love was our wedding song, what you may not know is when Van recorded "Brown Eyed Girl" he wanted to write "Brown Skinned Girl" but it was a different time when he made that record and the record company made him change it to "Brown Eyed Girl" he is an AMAZING ARTIST. I was in Belfast last month and was lucky enough to find his childhood home and had my picture taken in front of it. George Ivan (Van) Morrison is my favorite artist of all time.
“Have I Told You Lately” is my favorite from Van Morrison.
Can't beat Van. So many facets to Van music. And such a great band Van assembled. Jack Schroer on sax? Van's voice so many aspects jazz, blues scat ... Love the way he pronounces "moondance". Yeah, maybe "Tupelo Honey" or "St. Dominic's Preview", for horns. Great reaction! Thanks!
I have had this album, and yes I said album, 3 times! And after each break-up from that particular love of my life that album went missing! So now I'm single, I have the CD and the internet, so I should be good moving forward! SO MUCH MUSIC SO LITTLE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moondance is a Sacred Dance Ceremony where woman from all over the world gathered to Dance and Sing under the light of Mother Moon for 4 nights. Written by Sir George Ivan Morrison(OBE) aka Van Morrison is regarded as one of his most successful jazz composition. (1970). The flute is played by Collin Tilton and the sax is played by Jack Schroer.
Might I suggest “Cleaning Windows”? It’s a deep cut, not one of his most popular songs, but it has great guitar work by the inimitable Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits.
Van Morrison is an immense talent. You might also want to check out: "Domino", "Under Redwood Trees" and "Wild Night." Sheer perfection!
I bought this album in my senior year of hs in 1970 because of this song.
I don't think I have ever heard this song without snapping my fingers to the beat and grooving along. I just can't help it. This song does that.
I love Van’s phrasing…he always mixes it up…his inflections and pacing IS magic! 🙌🏽🔥
Van Morrison has so many fantastic songs. This is one of my faves.
Van Morrison lead singer in THEM. Went solo...but "BABYPLEASE DON'T GO" and classic that every garage band played while still learning!! "GLORIA" Van is the Man
My dad was a Jazz dominant Musician, he played Alto Saxophone and Keyboards. This sound reminds me of my childhood. He used to wake us up for school with his Saxophone playing the theme song from The Pink Panther. Used to drive me nuts but now when I look back it was actually pretty cool...and he was sooo good! Memories 💕
This is my FAVORITE song of all time!!!!! The arrangement is Perfection!!💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
Morrison's 90s albums are stunning. So good and everyone misses these for his 70s hits. His mystic sound is imbued with all he does making his catalogue one of the best in music history.
Couldn't agree more - it's his 80's albums that I gravitated towards at first ( eg No Guru No Method No Teacher) but whenever I listen to something new from him I know he's never really lost it - such a long career but reaction channels seem to be stuck in a time warp with Van & only concentrate on the early stuff. The best idea is to enjoy the later stuff and realize your one of the lucky ones who've found the treasure trove!
Man, growing up, this was my parent's date night song. Whether they were going out, and were playing and dancing in the living room just before they left; or they were banishing me and my siblings to our bedroom and having a date in the living room, I can't hear it without seeing how in love with each other my folks are to this day. Coming up on 37 or 38 years married, I believe... Though I might be wrong. It might actually be almost 40 years. For some reason, I can't really say how well I've tracked time these last few years.
I loved this song. I was only 15 or 16. This is a beautiful song. I live in Boca Raton, FL MUSIC is healing. We were at a friends back yard with the Palm trees blowing. I was groovin.
So happy you got to this amazing song!!
Great reaction you two! I can only hope you can will play some JJ Cale (the late great from Tulsa, Ok) who wrote and sang “After Midnight” and “Cocaine”, later covered by Eric Clapton who made JJ more famous than he was; he also wrote and sang “Call Me the Breeze” covered by Lynyrd Skynyrd! Those three songs were the only versions we knew until covered a couple years later. He left Tulsa in ‘64 to LA and has numerous albums with incredible songs and a great voice and guitar! You should start with After Midnight from his “Naturally” album!
Seconded!😊
The instrumentals on this are the kind of music you'd hear in nightclubs back in the 1950s and '60s. No amplification other than maybe a rhythm guitar. No mosh pits, no blowing your ears out with massive speakers. Just sexy, smooth, classy jazz. I miss those days.
I saw him in SF just before Covid. His daughter opened for him and she was great. When he come on stage his daughter stayed on and they performed a few songs together. Here is the problem with Van Morrison, and I experienced the same with Prince the last few times I saw him, he has soooo many great songs there is not enough time to perform them all.
Great choice, classic
You guys should react to more Van Morrison…
"Someone Like You", "Domino", "Gloria", "Here Comes the Night", "Crazy Love", "Days Like This", "Baby Please Don't Go", "Caravan"
🎸🤘
AGREE!
Definitely "Someone Like You" While I love turning up "Brown Eyes Girl" when it comes on for my brown eyed love of my life for the last 33 years, I still tear up when I hear " Someone Like You" because it's exactly my life and how I feel about her. Just try durring the reaction video to look each other in the eye and tell me you don't feel it. Double dig date you...😎
Comment before watching. This is arguably the sexiest rock song ever written and performed. Vans music has sensuality in its rawness if that makes sense. GREAT ARTIST.
More Van Morrison: 'Crazy Love', 'Brand New Day', 'I Shall Sing', 'Tupelo Honey', 'It Stoned Me' and on and on and on and on....
Yessir, that's flute. This is one of his biggest hits, as is Wild Night. My band used to cover both of them. But one of my favorites is Into the Mystic.
“ Every time I see a river” -2016, A hidden gem worth checking into that’s relatively recent. Van is the man!
He was with a band called Them and a song called Gloria which is a great one. Friends of mine years ago thought it was Mick Jagger singing lead.
Van is my absolute favorite artist, have been loving him for more than 30 years. The Mystery is probably my favorite. His album Poetic Champions Compose is fantastic, one of my favorites.
No Guru, No Method, No Teacher is great too. Foreign Window is beautiful. Little Village, No Religion are awesome songs as well. LOVE LOVE The Belfast Cowboy!
Van is the best. Some favorites are "Astral Weeks", "In The Garden", "Tupelo Honey", "Caravan" and "Cleaning Windows."
Moondance is still one of my all time favourite albums. It has so many amazing tracks on it, especially “And it stoned me”, amazing! Ps a great reaction as always guys 👍
A great song to pull out and crank up at full moon parties, or just let play in your head. My suggestion now would be another sultry moonsong, like "Moon Over Bourbon Street"...Sting's most sultry song. Roxy Music's "To Turn You On" is along the same line. A crooner tune for swooning to the moon.
THOSE last lines the way he delivered it tears your eye's up spine tingling
He's an astonishing performer. Saw him at Ronnie Scott's in London. Every word he sings, you feel the meaning, one of the very very best to ever do it.
Another of my favorite songs, there are so many things I love about this song. So glad you guys loved it as much as I have, for years!! Blessings to you and all those you love!
Van Morrisons voice doubled as the trumpet on this song. Such cool jazz!
Thanks for diving a little farther into the Van Morrison rabbit hole! You can’t go wrong! Please react to my favorite - Someone Like You! I think you’ll love it too!
I have been waiting for you all to run across this song, one of my favorites of all time. This is easily his biggest song. Van is just great! The song is hypnotic and great to dance to...and you all are right, Van sounds like a jazz singer. Most of his music has both blues and jazz elements.
Van Morrison. A musical genius!!! Please react to “Domino” next! Y’all will not regret it! Love you guys! ❤️
Careful, kiddos, or you may be looking at a family of six. 😄. So glad to see y’all appreciate Moondance exactly as you should have.
Van Morrison is a vibe. Into the Mystic, Tupelo Honey and Crazy Love are a must !!!
Van Morrison is great, especially if you can find live versions! He also sang lead for Them when they had a hit with "Gloria" back in the day! If you two love creativity combined with great talent you may wish to react to Walk Off The Earth! Great songs to start with are "The Shape Of You" and "Hello" in which they feature Myles and Isaak! Keep up the great work on your channel! And if you like this song make your movie choice one day "An American Werewolf In London"! Love your hair this way Amber!!
I've been trying to get reactors to react to Walk Off the Earth for the past 2 years. Nobody seems interested. Which is sad, because they are amazing!
The joke among guitarists is that if you drop a guitar on the floor it’ll play “Gloria”!
@@EricHenningThat's what happened with Morrison and Hendrix! Lol. They did amazing versions! Nothing beats the original "Them* version because I was a wee girl grooving to the AM radio Playlist and this song was a part of my childhood,
@@ericbutters2516 You are so right! When, not if, Jay and Amber give this group a try they will never stop being fans and WOTElings!
Loved the band Them
The entire Astral Weeks album is fantastic.
The pinnacle in jazz/rock fusion...as only Van Morrison can perform. He is the master. In film, this was the tune they used for the shower love scene in "American Werewolf in London." Woof!!!
Next up: "Domino," "Wavelength," "Wild Night," "Bright Side of the Road" or "Jackie Wilson Said".
Van Morrison- Into The Mystic. It was my wedding song.
Van is the Man He's been in the business almost 60 years and still coming out with new music. You have so much more to listen to of his catalog
"Someimes you Cry" is the best Van song ever. "Tupelo Honey" too. Love you guys!
After the night out we would go to the lake, under the moon, and turn it up. With this song. And all kinds of jams. God, I miss the country..
You'd loosely call Van Morrison a white R&B musician but he has so many excellent songs which would have to be described as folk, pop, rock, or jazz. A really talented and eclectic artist. You've listened to 3 good ones, but "Wild Night" is my favorite. His early work with the group "Them," an Irish band which broke just after the Beatles, is also influential. Gloria, G-L-O-R-I-A! is Van Morrison singing with Them.
Another one of those songs my mama sang me 💙 pure magic
Van is for sure magic. I'm really glad you're hearing and enjoying this music. Watching it flow through you tells me you've learned how to listen.
I'm requesting
IN HAUNTS OF ANCIENT PEACE
from Van's Common One album.
Peace -
Van Morrison has a catalog of wonderful songs. Have I told you lately, Domino, Bright Side of the Road, Caravan & Gloria.
Got to got to got to hear “Someone Like You” his absolute best. I love Van Morrison, but this is his best. Trust me. For all the lost loves in life.
If you like “Moon Dance”, you need to watch the movie “August Rush”.
Not only is it a great movie, the soundtrack is amazing.
Totally agree!
I would go with "Caravan" or "Bright Side Of The Road" on the next reaction
Come on! Give Van the Man his do!!! GENIUS!!! He is still blowing it up!!.I paid $1000 @ seat just to see him in concert
Tupelo Honey is such a romantic song, perfect for sharing with someone special
Van does a song called 'Coney Island', where he just talks through the whole song. It's so stunning. Love your reaction. Moondance and the whole album is ten out of ten.
