There's so much to admire about this film lighting, editing, music etc. What I love is the acting by gosling and mulligan especially in scenes where they don't use words and convey emotion through facial expressions body language its so hard for actors to do that and they make it look effortless 👏👏😊
Agreed, they were so excellent together
Y’all are criminally underrated
Appreciate it!
Whoa!! Wasn’t expecting a shoutout on the latest episode. You guys rock!! BTW... I’m “PNixer.” Haha. Don’t know why I chose that name. 🤔 Anyway. Appreciate the shout out. And congrats on another killer episode. The movie “Drive” is legitimately the reason I drive a silver Chevy Malibu. Wanted initially to go with the “Chevy Impala. The most popular car in the state of California... no one will be looking at you.” 🦂 🐸 😎
Thanks Preston! The Malibu is so cool 🙌
I loved the way this was shot. I probably watched this 5 times when it came out.
Same! So visually stunning
I love Ryan Gosling and Oscar Isaac in this. This movie is so cool and very hopeless romantic I love it. Great episode.
Agreed! This was such a great breakout from Oscar Isaac
Bronson is a phenomenal movie. Stumbled upon it one day and was blown away.
So great
My favourite film of all time and I don't think anything will replace it
Soooo great
The movie that made me fall in love with Gosling
Same 🥰
Do 8 Mile. No one on CZcams does video essays about it or anything but yet it’s so iconic with one of the most iconic Oscar winning songs loose yourself
Great idea 😎
My favourite movie of all time, with blade runner 2049 a close second. I love anything with Ryan Gosling.
:)
I forgot this movie even existed. I guess Baby Driver took over the genre in my mind. Also, I’m gonna need to see some Evil Dead coverage for spooky month this year.
On it bud!
This is my all time favorite movie and I learned so much about it listening to this episode! I thought you guys would talk more about Refn’s usage of color. Did you notice how Irene is always accompanied by the color red and Driver with the color blue/teal?
Spent all day making an excel sheet of all the movies I’ve seen…up to 1019 so far still got some more to do. But i can attribute about 200 of those to the both of you so thank you and keep up the good work love the podcast!
Glad to hear we could help out!!
What's so terrifying about the Motel scene is that Driver is calm, and his right hand has nothing in it, but it LOOKS like he should be holding a weapon. Christina's character is acting as if there's a gun to her head, but it's just the intensity of the situation.
Exactly!! So intense
Just visited the last Blockbuster in Oregon, and the only movie I bought from there was Pusher III, I couldn't believe my eyes! Love that trilogy, I remember the hype around Drive, but didn't see it until college. It made me go check out everything Refn's done, even his recent streaming show!
No way, that’s so cool! He’s such a great director
I was seventeen when this film came out and I remember sharing the trailer with all my friends and showing it to everyone in Sixth Form (Equivalent of the final two years of High School). I was so excited to watch it. Once I’d seen it I wanted to be Driver so much that I went and bought a white jacket, white boots and a ton of toothpicks. I’d turn up to Sixth Form thinking I was Driver listening to the soundtrack not talking much to anyone. I even used to hang my jacket on one shoulder when I was hot. I kept telling people to watch it, but no one did until a few years later when it was on TV. I’ve always felt this film was to millennials what Fight Club was to Generation X. Nowhere near as profound, but in terms of the effect it has on young men and the fact we’re so drawn towards unhinged antiheroes.
Hate a great point, it resonated with so many young people like Fight Club
Would love you guys to do an ep breaking down all the roles in a movies production. Similar to the roger deakins one
Great idea!
Great ep!
Thanks!
Yes yes yes yes!
It’s only part time
I love this movies its a master piece every did such a great job acting and i feel the director keeping the camera in the car made it more tense because it felt like omg okay the police a coming they need to hurry. I love the soundtrack as well when he they drive through the the empty sewer canal listening the hero. This one pf those movies that didn’tneed much dialogue because everything was well spoken no verbally. I thought it was so funny you mention girls fell in love with Ryan in the notebook and for men in this movie because it so true he great actor
Great comments!! We feel the same about all the above
Off topic. But which, in your guys’ opinion, is the better nick cage movie between Con Air or The Rock?
The Rock, Con Air is awesome but can be pretty cringe at times 😅 The Rock all around solid
Got na question for you guys, why did Anthony go by Leo in the early episodes?
It’s his middle name that he used to go by. But for business purposes, tax reasons, continuity he decided to go back to Anthony his first name 💪🏻
@@raidersofthelostpodcast_ gotcha, I prefer it 👍🏻
This maybe a dumb question but are you two twins?
First btw
Yes! Identical 😎😎
Rayan gosling looks like cgi. I don’t see why people like him. Didn’t see drive. Didn’t see Barbie. I don’t get the hype
