Small correction about the GX package. It’s not only the tires that change. It’s also:
    1. Upgraded suspension from 100mm travel to 140mm travel
    2. Dropper seatpost replaces fixed seatpost
    3. Larger pedals
    4. Upgraded saddle
    5. Upgraded grips
and if you select this GX package you can’t replace the standard luggage rack with a pannier rack.

Just got a chance to bikepack across the Scottish Highlands on these bikes with the wife. It was a fantastic tour and I really have to say the bikes performed beautifully! Our biggest day was a little over 65 miles with about 2K feet of climbing and we still finished w/ 2 bars. I utilized the e-rohloff which was great for quick stops for pics and not having to worry about shifting down. That said, I still prefer a trad. derailleur personally as I can shift more fluidly. Also, if you get the MTB rear rack option, make sure to pull the lower bolts and add some loc-tite or even better weld the frame to the bike if you don't think you'll have to remove it so this connecting points don't come loose with heavy gear load.

I question your claimed milage in the most strenuous manner (trying to be less blunt in my old age). 1st let's ascertain what you mean by "bikepacking". Can you guess as to how much weight you were packing on the bikes? How many days was the "tour"? Was it bikepacking or touring... I'm confused. I have no doubt it was beautiful and "fantastic", compared with riding any (loaded) standard bike. Are you saying that if you get a version with a rear rack that it needs to be modified before you care a "heavy gear load"? And you never mentioned weight at all on what must have been a many day "tour", let alone got specific so what's "heavy"? But, I have to guess from your remark about choosing a "trad. derailleur" over a Rohloff Speed-hub that you are at most a daily rider that prides themselves on high mileage in a short time and not someone that tours on a heavily loaded bicycle. Bikepacking huh? Where were you charging the bikes daily? R&M makes some very nice expensive day commuters but they can't be considered Expedition Grade... tour bikes, especially when I have never seen one with front panniers.

Hi all, I just picked up my new Riese & Müller Superdelite GT Rohloff. I love it!
The bike now has the option to choose between dual battery 1000 and 1125 Wh!
Because this option was not available when I bought it last February they assumed I preferred the 1125 Wh option, and they were right! So I have my dual battery, dual suspension, Bosch performance 4th generation motor, Rohloff 14 speed electronic shift system, belt drive etcetera complete electric bike!
    Greetings from Spain.
By the way, great review! It helped a lot choosing my e-bike!

    Thanks for the review.
With the new Bosch motor the internal resistance is almost gone when the electric assistance stops, which is great.
But getting rid of that problem does bring two other problems:
    1. The new chain ring is much larger which exposes it to impacts from below. The previous Bosch motor used a tiny chain ring which was fully protected from all sides.
    2. With the new motor the chain pulls most when you’re pressing down on the pedal so both those forces add up to compress the suspension making the ride wobbly and wasting energy. You don’t feel it much on flat roads but if you’re going uphill the bike will flex at each downstroke.

Thx. Good info! I have been riding for my older NEVO GT Gates Belt for 3 or 4 years. It is the best machine I have ever rode. I ride quit a bit from super steep to long rides in Park City, Utah, USA to sorta flat/smooth and it is ALWAYS fun to ride. It is a joy and rides like a road bike. It is somewhat embarrassing when I passed to road bikers and I’m in “Tour”setting. I still get an amazing work out. I feel like Lance Armstrong ...aka- cheating. NuVinci gearing is mind blowing to me, as a designer/engineer, has infinite gearing. After you ride it you will understand what I an staying. I learned a lot about efficiency and good timing. It’s like jazz.😉
The new bikes have 2 batteries. I get it and understand. I would use these for different things. I’m a certified ‘cheapskate’ (but not by much) so I use a 500W battery and another battery in my backpack. Works for me. Sometimes I needed the extra juice but most of the time I rarely bring a second battery. Living on the edge.🤣

If you can not get hold of the Supercharger 2 look at secondhand Super charger Ist generation. We got one each in Nov 2017 and the bikes are great. Battery life is excellent and the battery discharge over the last two winters has been very low. We got the Gates belt drive because in our part of East Lancs England ( Pendle Hill country ) we have hills and plenty of them. The Gates belt drive allows no loss of speed on the hills as well as low maintenance. One last point get Sena Helmets that have blue toothed and allow a half mile range to communicate with fellow cyclists as well as linking up with your phone

I just bought a Superdelite GT Rohloff. A few days after I placed the order, the shop manager called me and offered to exchange one of the two battery packs against a 625 pack, for a total of 1125. So it seems, that they have now come up with a solution. I have no info why only one pack can be a 625.

@@ruirodtubeMeanwhile I have found out, that with the one 625 Battery pack the frame of the bicycle changes slightly. That seems to imply that it is not just a matter of exchanging one pack against the other. One needs to order the bike with the special frame and the 625 pack. It is indeed not yet an official option on their website, but my dealer has been approached by Riese Müller behind the scenes. He then contacted me. I suppose sooner or later it will be official and for now they are mostly testing interest and demand.

Would this be a good substitute?
I’d buy a new 2019 twin for my stolen one if I could find it. Deep Sea Blue. 49cm. Thieves didn’t get the four batteries or the Kiox so I suspect once they learned it can’t shift, it will end up abandoned somewhere.

First of all, that totally sucks. Sorry to hear that happened. Bike thieves can stick it. Make sure to post on bikeindex.org because it's such a unique bike. You might have some luck in recovering it!
Since you have the batteries for the previous year's model, it would of course be better to find that model. On the other hand, you should be able to sell those for a decent price. I do honestly think that this years model is a significantly better experience than models of the previous years. The Superdelite GT Rohloff HS with the GX upgrade would be the closest to the bike you had. I rode it in Germany and was blown away. The sizing has changed a bit this year, so make sure to get fitted for the proper size this year.

Great review! I've got the Delight 2019 model, high speed vario hub. Great bike, twice a week commuting to the office which is 50 km away. My model and I guess the new model as well, has low quality pedals, which I have replaced by high end Shimano ones. So now it's perfect, except for the position of the lock. The integrated batteries make it possible to reposition it. The new model might be improved but the external batteries are more easy to replace and look more cool. Of course that is personal 🙂

Thanks for the advanced look at the bike I am jonesing on. Although from a practical point of view, I like the older, lighter external batteries that have one advantage in that they fit into a trunk bag, the great look of clean lines with the internal batteries cannot be denied. Exciting that the speed motor now has the same maximum torque as the CX. Is the new motor as quiet as the gen 3? How about pedaling without assist? The gen 3 motors were sluggish when you exceeded the assist limit speed. Does the new one have resistance beyond the limits? Such a unique and good looking bike!

    • @FlyRidesUSA
      @FlyRidesUSA  Před 4 lety +1

Hey Richard! Definitely less resistance past the speed limit on the gen4 motor. The intube batteries on the Riese & Muller bikes are a bit longer, but much more narrow than the powerpacks this year. Weight-wise I'm not sure of the exact difference. My big thing on the 2020 Superdelite is that it feels more comfortable overall. This might be because I'm should have always been riding a 47cm (of course, the smallest size on previous models was a 49). But I do feel like the refined geometry and updated control technology makes a big difference.

The A6000 lock has been on the Delite for years, but you introduce it like news. Many bike manufacturers have managed to include the 625 battery, i dont get why so many reviewers are quite forgiving on it re RM. Simplon has a very nice 1125 Wh setup with the new Sengo Pmax - sleeker and with much lower center of Gravity. Noone from RM has mentioned any change on the rear suspension anywhere, so why should it be different? I like RM and have a Delite on order, but I still wait for more true reviews and less advertizing.

Hey Scott. Great video with a beautiful bike that had better be for the near $10,000 dollar price point! Ouch. I wonder why kind of profit margins these crafty krauts are getting, charging $10,000 and over for bikes that you can’t really ride in the rain or when it hits 110 degrees in the summer like it does here in beautiful Arizona. So your still going to need a car and preferably a full sized truck to haul these heavy Panzers (sticking with the German theme) around should they ever break down. Maybe seez are just toys for za very few privileged among us. Sad. What makes the Rohloff hub drive more premium than the Vario? Is it electronic shifting? No one really makes this clear in any reviews. Keep up the good work, feller!

    • @FlyRidesUSA
      @FlyRidesUSA  Před 4 lety

Hey there, R&M really bases their business around car replacement which is honestly more realistic in Europe. Rain really isn't as much of an issue of maybe the heat is. I haven't had that problem luckily. Yes, they're pricey but they are very reliable. I find it's more about the motor system than anything. Bosch really does make a great product. The Rohloff is more expensive due to a wider gear ratio and it being a more "refined" system. I put that in quotes because I think between the Touring (regular derailleur), Vario, and Rohloff it's kind of a wash in terms of quality. It just comes down rider preference. You definitely pay a bit more for the electronic aspect as well.
      Thanks for watching!

This point is made almost every time a higher-priced e-bike is reviewed and it always strikes me as irksome. This comparison to a motorcycle, used car or scooter implies that the e-bike is inherently less valuable. They’re not. They’re just different and used for different things. A person who is shopping for an e-bike isn’t doing it because they can’t afford a car or scooter, they’re doing it because they WANT an e-bike. I can afford a car. In fact,I HAVE a car.
I want an e-bike because they are proven to provide similar exercise benefits to regular bikes. They create less environmental damage and you can ride them in parks and trails. NONE of that is true for the items you listed. I’m NOT looking at e-bikes because I want a car and can't afford it, I’m looking at them because I WANT an e-bike. So why are you telling me what kind of car I can get for that money?
It’s no different than if I went on a Lamborghini video and said “too bad, for that money I can buy 40 Reise and Muellers”. They’re different things.

Hey Ron! Ranges vary way too much from rider to rider to estimate in a video. That’s the main reason most videos won’t talk about it. And not even just in size and weight, it’s also based on how you ride. It’s best to talk to a shop and give them your height and weight and have them Help you estimate it. Either that or you can use things like Bosch’s range estimating tool on their website. I’ll put the link in another comment. Cheers.
