In a recent case, a robber kicked down the door of a home with two dogs, but instead of teaming up to take him down, the canines took off. Inside Edition tested Perry, a 5-year-old yellow Labrador. Many years back, my wife and I were in the lounge one night. she was asleep on the couch and I was watching TV. During this time, burglars had removed the burglar guards and had emptied our bedroom of her jewelry and all our clothing. When I eventually discovered it, I looked out of the bedroom window to see my highly pedigreed Rottweiler sitting outside the window with her tennis ball in her mouth. I am sure she sat there begging the burglars to throw the ball for her too. What a guard dog. Haha, but we did love her to bits.

We live in a farming community and many an Anatolian and Pyrenees dogs wind up in shelters because they lost their guarding instinct. In every single instance family members started treating them like their kids and spoiling them.
@@GLoLChibs She was given to us at 5 years old when her owner emigrated to New Zealand so how she was raised, we have no idea, however, she was never a guard dog, she was family. It's when people start treating their dogs as protectors that kids and old people get attacked and maimed by them.

I used to babysit a couple kids after I was their mom's coworker for a time. I began taking her son to martial arts classes with me and when I'd drive him home sometimes I'd review some moves with him inside the house. Paco, the family German Shepard, was always friendly but he'd start to bare his teeth, growl, and get ready to lunge if I grabbed Dylan, despite us just practicing. I stopped practicing partially because I never wanted Paco to lose his protective nature... but mostly so I didn't get bitten, lol. He was a good protector and every family should have a dog like that. RIP Paco.
My Chihuahua (rip❤) thought he was KING OF THE JUNGLE. He wasnt scared of anything or anyone and so damn loyal. I miss him so much and so thankful for the 12 yrs i got to spend with him. Rip sweet CoCo!!❤

When I was in my late teens my mom (who was kind of crazy) got all up in my face and started screaming at me (her usual accusations that I was a drug dealing mass murderer, spoiler alert I wasn't) and my cat ran up to her, stood on his hind legs, and dug both claws into her leg.
She stopped yelling at me after that lol.
Ngl i'd probably just call an ambulance for her and see if there's some way she could get some forced mental health help.
But i know it ain't that easy sometimes. Make sure to hug your cat for me.

He jumped in between me & her a was barking but he was a little wimp all she did was stomp her foot & grunt & he cowered away. The bigger dogs left because they weren’t the alpha in the house. They were trained to not be aggressive. In the third household, that dog was the alpha and wasn’t trained to be gentle. Clearly, the last woman’s ignorance of pack mentality allowed her dog to claim the mantle. Any dog that sees itself as the alpha or strong beta, or trained, will defend the pack. It’s that simple.

I always knew it was the little guys you had to watch out for, and here's more proof! I've gotten bit in the knees and fingers many times by ferocious guard chihuahuas. A big dog has never bitten me except by accident or in a panic.
It’s kind of fascinating though to see the different reactions of the dogs bred for different jobs. Hunting dogs aren’t supposed to guard the house and just run away. Watch dogs bark really loud but don’t confront. Guard dogs get right in and protect their owner. You have to think about this when you’re choosing a dog depending on what you want it to be able to do

I have a chihuahua and I live in the country…with Great Horned Owl and other raptors. A family member gave me an Aussi-Pit. The sire & dam were medium sized at best, as were all of their litter, but then there’s my gift…
He’s 105 lbs and like most Aussi Pits I know, they can be “timid”, and my big boy it quite timid. I got him so that when I let the chihuahua out, he discourages the owls, fox, and coyote etc from attacking the chihuahua. The Aussi Pit kills everything that comes into the yard, cats, opossum, etc.
Beware timid dog, as they can “nip” bite.
Beware an extra large, timid dog, as they will maul and attack out of “fear”.

my chorkie recently got stolen, but he used to protect me from my mom handing me butt whoopings when I was a kid. I love that dog so much. He bit her hard enough to draw blood sometimes, and I've protected him a fair amount of times too we always had each other's back.
That one dog just straight up left the owner to die 😂

I don't know why, but I'm crying watching the tiny dog protect his mommy. Probably because this little dog could easily get punted across the room, but he doesn't care. That's HIS mommy 😭
Perhaps,because they were two dogs.But they were brave,no doubt.
A few small terriers could mess someone up really bad, depends on the breed too. They had big hearts though, it is heart warming. lol
