  • @headlessguy98
    @headlessguy98 Před 8 lety +223

    This is so stupid and inaccurate. Dogs have an incredible sense of smell, they can even smell emotions (different hormones go off based on your mood). They can easily sense the "burglar" isn't actually breaking in. It takes more than a costume to fool a dog. And it said on one of them that the dogs were cowards just because there tails were wagging. That's the most stupid thing ever, dogs don't wag their tale when they're feeling playful , a wagging tail could mean lots of different things. The only sure way to know if a dog wants to play is if they give you a "bow" where they go down on their front legs awhile their butt is in the air.

      We got burglarized about a month and a half ago and my dog was crated. (she chews stuff up, so for her own safety we put her in the crate. Now, since the incident, she's been put in my room. She doesn't chew anything up in there ever) When we came home, I looked right at my dogs face and immediantly knew something was wrong. Upon looking at our home, everything was decimated. Being that my dog is a medium-ish dog, about 35-40 pounds, and a border collie/beagle at that, Im actually glad she wasn't in the way. Half of these dogs, excluding the pit looking one and the two Burmese, I doubt anyone would actually have thought twice.

    • @bishqueen5514
      @bishqueen5514 Před 7 lety

      ***** I agree, partially. If the dog is very territorial, it will defend it's territory and you, but if it isn't, it probably would rather stand up with you present. Also, the smell of fear in the air is alluring to animals, especially dogs (a predator). So with the fear, tension, and adrenaline in the air, the dog is far more likely to attack. As well as this, it will feel as if it has a 'backer' to fight with and two is always better than one.

    It honestly depends how you train your dog. I remember when I was younger we owned a German Shepard. He had been abused and trained to attack others by his previous owners. He never hurt our family, but he would pretty viciously attack anyone from unfamiliar house guests to young children. My point is, if you want an attack dog, buy and train one specifically for that purpose. Don’t buy a house pet and be surprised when they don’t do anything when faced with a stranger. Most don’t know the difference between guest and robber.

    It's better to have a socialized dog and have it "wimp" out when you get a burglar than have an aggressive dog who will injure a guest or one of your kid's friends. I 'd rather have to use my insurance on the former rather than the latter. That so called "wimp" dog might behave very differently if the burglar attacked one of his people, I bet.

    The problem with this, is that dogs will smell you and see if you give off a bad vibe. This "baddy" is letting them sniff him and seems very harmless. Not to mention, if the family met up with the guy before, the dog could recognize his smell on the family, or his family's smell on him. He has to have pure bad intentions, otherwise dogs will know the person isn't bad. Dogs are very intelligent creatures, they can tell if you are bad or not. :)

      +Briana Borja your not that creative. All someone has to do to rob them is get the scent of the family on them somehow and all they would have to do is lock pick the back door and casually walk inside because if you dont pose any serious threat, the dog wont give a shit right? dogs dont protect objects, not unless you trained them too, they would be useless protecting the house, which you two buffoons failed to grasp that.

In his younger days my late pup would become a completely different dog if he was outside on his lead and someone approached the house while we weren't home. But if we were home he wouldn't care. If he was in the house and someone came to the door he was interested but he never barked

    My dogs would only attack if me or a family member is being harmed. We've tried it before: we had a male family friend pretend to hurt us and we were screaming. As soon as the dogs saw us, the dogs charged at our friend and starting jumping and biting him. Thinking back on it, it would have been safer to take some precautions, but it all worked out.
