TikTok is home to some highly entertaining stunts. While they may be fun to watch, they are often dangerous, with people people their lives in serious jeopardy. You should absolutely never attempt any of these stunts, and today I would like to tell you why. We look at gymnastics and gym fails, neck injuries, water skiing, scooter flips from nitro circus, paintball welts, bodybuilders, bike tricks, baseball accidents, wild pitches, urban exploration, Felix Baumgartner, skateboarding off a bridge, benching the bench, ACL injuries, shoulder dislocations, concussions, field goals, football, flipping off the swing, cliff diving, beard burn, eating ants, ganglion cysts, and Kim Quindlen's personality tests.

I hurt myself pretty badly jumping off a cliff into water. I watched several people do it and figured I could too. My form was perfect... until I freaked out because it felt like I had been falling forever. Apparently my panic occurred right before I hit the water and I had leaned backwards, landing square on my back. Someone dove in after me because they realized I was probably in trouble and they were right. The impact completely stunned me. I couldn't move or breathe or anything. They pulled me to the surface and helped me to shore. I was bleeding from lacerations on my back from the sheer force of hitting the water from that height and the bruising was extensive. All I could think while laying on the shore trying to breathe was that I finally had an answer for my parents... if everyone else jumped off a cliff, I would too.
I once worked with someone who broke their back cliff diving - pretty much that exact same way. I could never, just knowing the pain that girl was in daily from it.
dang people, always be careful is noted fo sure
I mean, if you are underwater, it's pretty normal you can't breathe.
Heh scary story, though. Good thing you had friends watching out for you.
@@theknightradiant2 True. I think it was a good thing that I couldn't breathe for a minute after the impact because otherwise I probably would have gasped and inhaled a ton of water.
*Basically I got the wind knocked out of me, a term for when the diaphragm is temporarily paralyzed restricting the ability to breathe (caused by heavy impact to the abdomen or back).
Was there any permanent injury? I’m honestly shocked you didn’t get paralyzed, but I’m not a doctor, soo

Doctor mike: WHERES THE SPOTTER?
The spotter who shoved the mat in place for her to land/fall on:
👁👄👁
😒
Can't really spot in gymnastics, you're likely to take a foot to the face. That's what the mats are for.
I LOVED the uneven bars when I was in gymnastics!
We just not going to talk about how athletic that 70 year old man was?
Fr bro
I mean my teacher is 64 and hes a athlete in track. Ive learned not to question things. And yes he is very good at track
He's more athletic then me and am not even 20
Go to the Boston Marathon to see very fast 80 year olds
No.
For the gymnast in the second video. You’re not allowed to have a coach spot at a competition, it’s a serious deduction. As well as most (99%) of coaches won’t allow a gymnast to compete a skill they cannot consistently do. That’s also why they have a safety mat ready to push in, to make it just a bit safer.
Ok, so what we saw was actually the mat person doing a good job at anticipating the fall? Like, the mat started moving in place before I realized, watching, that something had gone wrong.
0:39 she had spotters if you look you can see that the larger landing mat got moved so that her whole body would land on it rather than only the lower part of the body. In bar gymnastics this is how spotting goes there is not usually a spotter right next to the bar because if they try to directly catch someone who has this much momentum the spotters would almost certainly get injured aswell then you have 2 injured people to deal with
My thought exactly. If that mat hadn't been shoved under her, it would have been way worse especially for her neck. The spotter did their job, and I'm sure that gymnast was fine after that, maybe some soreness.
That's what I think had happened. Otherwise why move it. Still ouch.
Yeah you can't exactly catch a person midair with no injuries to either party...
Thank you for the information
I would also like to add that it seems like they are in the middle of competition. Spotters are not allowed to push this round mat on bars during competitions. He did all he could which was pushing the larger landing mat under her.
I really appreciate those doctors who feel other's pain and who see their patients as humans(at least as living things) not as objects or something like that. Therefore so much respect for Dr. Mikhail Varshavski

I love how, as a non-doctor, I find these funny, but Doctor Mike looks legitmately concerned
why did bro copy him?
0:36 Hi mike! In this video, she’s at a competition in gymnastics, so you are not allowed to have a spotter. She probably was just nervous and got in her head which made her slip up on her routine part here. Anyway just wanted to say that. I love your vids! Keep doing what ur doing and have a great day!
She did have a spotter or you think the mat moved on their own? Pffft
@@NaeniaNightingale no I mean like helping her on the actual trick, that’s not a spotter they just moved the mat
@@not_el. Do you even know what a spotter is. The dude pushing the mat IS a spotter. They're supposed to interfere when something goes wrong like grabbing a dumbbell when the person can't lift so it doesn't crush them or moving a mat so someone doesn't break their neck.
When you said “think about the toe,” you made me remember the time Viggo Mortensen was filming a scene in LOTR, where he kicked a helmet so many times on set that he broke his toe. The scene that appears in the series is him screaming from pain.
Made me think of when Daniel Radcliffe kicked the dresser in i think it was prisoner of Azkaban and broke his toe.. dude took it like a champ and continued the scene but you can kinda tell he was dying inside once you know. The emotion worked well for the scene at least 😅
I’m glad i wasn’t the only whose brain went to LOTR and Viggo Mortensen’s broken toes!
@@sherrymccleese7266 hello how are you doing today
That's why u never, ever, kick anything with your toes, use the inside, outside of your foot or the instep. Places where u play football (soccer for the yanks) with your friends out on the street u quickly learn this the hard way, once your kicks get stronger with age u loose all control over the ball direction and it hurts like hell.
Does nobody know that like barefoot kicking used to be common practice in the NFL a couple of decades ago. Also you don't kick a football with your toe you kick it with a bone towards the bottom of your foot.
As a water skiier I can confirm, bare foot skiing hurts soooo bad and the whipeouts hurt worse.. thanks for the good content mike :D

My mother and step-father thought I had a ganglion cyst for the longest time, they'd try to break it by my smashing books against my hand, and my step-father once actually tried to take a needle to me. Luckily my friend at the time's uncle, who is a doctor, took a look at it and realized pretty quick that it was a tumor and I got it surgically removed.

We have some of those poppers left over from a 4th of July celebration. Last month I accidentally dropped one on the floor and stepped on it, setting it off. I was barefoot. I heard the pop but barely felt a thing, and the sole of my foot was 100% undamaged.
That grandpa doing a flip off the swing was probably walking home, wanted to be a child again, and succeeded in the vibe check.
I've torn my ACL about a month back and let me tell you one thing, "It's an injury you don't want if you like sports". With proper treatment, a torn ACL can heal in 4-5 months(that's an estimate btw) maybe more depending on how badly it was torn and how much you're treating it. My advice to prevent any ACL injury is to do warm-ups before playing certain sports. Without doing warm-ups, your body doesn't understand what to do in certain situations and that can lead to injuries like a torn ACL.
i really woudnt want to tear my acl bc i box also
יי
I've torn both my acls on separate occasions. The good news: you can get all the way back with a good reconstruction surgery and PT. The bad news? It's a full year revovery for sports usually, and it may be 2 until it feels 100%.
I have a friend who is a sports therapist, and she told me that how she treats ACL injuries, is to build up the quad muscles. If those are strong enough, you don't need to worry about your ACL being in the same condition is was before your injury. It's how she gets them back to being able to at least continue to train in their sport, so they can return to competition faster.
Physical therapists goal is to make sure the person is no longer in pain. Spots therapists goal is to get the person back to competitive level health. It's really interesting to learn how they can take it a step further.
Exactly that. Totally agree with you. I’m studying to become a PT and we even learned that for optimal recovery and being full on ready to go back to all activities it can even take up to a year to recover from a torn ACL.
Wait never noticed his small head until now that he has short hair lol
Edit: which isn’t a bad thing he is still hot and beautiful personality and smart lol he just always mentions a small head lmao
💀💀
Is it a small head or just huge muscles?
PEEWOOP
Oop
It's because he got more muscular from boxing training. Most hench men appear to have small heads.
When I was in highschool I had a football hit me in the temple without bouncing first! So I can attest to how much pain that guy would be in! Plus I ended up with a concussion so that was fun!
I know hw it feels
my friend when he was like 3 he got so many concussions which eventually led to a personality change. the video with the guy who hit himself with a bat reminded me of that.

I've done the pop-its under the toilet seat gag. I did it late one night, knowing my husband would be up before me to use the bathroom. Didn't count on my 7 year old getting up to use the bathroom at 3 am. She was so scared she broke the toilet, and came to us apologizing and repeating "I just don't know how this happened!"

as a gymnast, i can say the fall at 0:35 hurts pretty bad and i've know people that have gotten whiplash from it. it's very likely to fall like that especially when first learning a jaeger (the skill she was doing). she did have a "spotter" there, but if she was in a routine (which it looked like she might have been), it's a big deduction to have a coach touch you at all in a routine. letting her fall was probably the safest and smartest option, less deduction and lower risk of breaking bones. the coach probably would have gotten hurt if he were to try and catch her, and it could have led to her getting a worse injury for the gymnast. also, gymnasts are trained on how to fall out of more dangerous and difficult skills, and she's probably fallen like that at least a dozen times.
Hey, not sure if you’ve already done this or not but it would be great to see you react to the hunger games. It might be a little to gruesome for CZcams, but is something I would really like to see. Anyway I really enjoy your content and keep it up
Ooohhh yes that's a really good idea! I just watched Cinema Therapy (also a real nice channel) and they talked about how Katniss deals with all the trauma. I'd love to get a doctor Mike perspective on that.
Omg, get this thing to top comment he HAS to see it 🤣
Ahhh he should!
The first one brought back traumatizing memories for me. Long story short, my neighbors got a zip line in their backyard and wanted me to go first as I was the oldest of their children and my siblings, and something happened where I gained a ton of speed really fast, and the devices that were supposed to slow and stop you didn’t work, and when I hit the end I flipped back onto my neck. I was lucky not to be paralyzed or worse. The weirdest thing was (besides my neck being sore) my toes really hurt after the initial pain wore off. Like REALLY hurt for like weeks, even though I landed elsewhere. The top suggestion was that my toes hit the tree that the zip line was hooked up to at the end. Suggestions on why my toes were the main source of pain would be appreciated!
Have you tried a specialist in the medical field opposed to you tube comments?
Probably not correct but when I swing my arms around a lot my hands start to hurt a bit so maybe it was something to do with the momentum of the zipline?
love your thoughts of care for people and i hope you have a merry chrismas

The day after me and the girls bought three boxes, one for every person, and hid them around their room. We were smiling evilly every time we heard a little explosion from their room.
