I personally find this movie very interesting. Because it gives Captain Jack's character a chance to develop. I mean the previous villians were hilarious and even in a way likeable. Blackbeard was a calm devil. There are several scenes in this movie depicting his goodness, his fears, his anger and desperation.

And even if he would be alive - their character journeys have ended. There is not much to tell that wouldnt either be pointless oder invalidate their journey.

If blackbeard would have rather sacrificed himself for his daughter, we would have had a immortal blackbeard at our hands, trying to kill jack for preventing him from saving his daughter.
Instead we got a asthmatic spaniard.
