What Makes a Sneaker a HIT? (not ONLY Selling Out)

- What makes #sneakers a hit in 2024? Is it only selling out or can we look at it from another perspective? Because if you see a #nike model all over, everywhere, on court for example, I think that means it's still a hit, like the #Nike #sabrinaionescu Sabrina 1 that is on foot in the pros and college. Share your thoughts on what makes a sneaker a hit in 2024.

I agree with your take. I think it’s a sneaker that just is everywhere. Doesn’t have to sell out or have crazy resale. CZcamsrs don’t have to be buzzing about it it’s just a sneaker you see regularly/everywhere. I think the 9060s are a great example. A lot of New balance models like the WRPD runner sell out, but I’ve seen maybe 1 or 2 in person and the rest are just CZcams reviews. I think about every 3rd sneaker I see on a daily basis is a 9060. I don’t even think there’s a colorway of the 9060 that I haven’t seen in person outside of the UK exclusives
I think it's interesting to see 9060s everywhere in real life but you're right, they're not always the hyped topic covered by creatives here. I think IG is great for highlighting how good the model is in hand and on foot
I agree with ya, if you see the shoes everywhere you go, that means that shoe was a hit! You nailed it!
When a shoe is off of SM and in real life, that says something!
The anticipation for the shoe, people wearing the shoe in the wild in large numbers, and the resale price. People pay more for what they want.
Well resale price these days is linked to selling out and I think that could be the easy cop out

Buy what u like. Wear what u like... That's how I feel about it. If it makes u feel good, it's a hit in my opinion. There's always someone out there who will appreciate it as much as u do

Can't speak on too many athletic sneakers because I don't own a lot. However, a lot of people overlook that at one point in time NMDs, Ultraboosts, and Roshe Runs were considered a hit. To me, that translated to affordability, accessibility, versatility, and some celebrity influence with the Kanye Effect
I would agree on all accounts. Those were all hits and on everyone's feet, widely accessible.

Also, how do you feel about the JBalvin Rio. I think they're dope.
They usually don't have an answer bc they don't want to say they only want something when no one else can get it as shallow as they is in reality. And I don't think the black pair is as nice as the white pair that dropped last year, to me.
The sneaker of 2024 in my opinion was the AE1.

I think what makes a sneaker a hit is whatever you like. It don't have to be hype or seen every where it's whatever sneaker you like and buy. No real protocol to what makes it a hit. If you like it it's a hit!
I mean in the general context of a shoe in a market, not just to an individual buyer. It's naturally a hit to you if you buy it.

The highest potential resale value.
Some UGLY shoes are a "hit" just for that, and I never see anybody wear them anywhere.
A hit should be an actual good shoe, that looks nice, that will be worn a lot. A shoe that you see in the wild, but either in different colors or not on anyone. But it has to be out there.
And you spoke on what I was getting at....when we see it in the wild, it screams hit for me

Just bc athletes are wearing the shoe does not make them a hit. The trick is to have them crossover into being a lifestyle shoe and as we all know that hasn’t happened since the Lebron Kyrie KD era almost 10 years ago. Sorry that shoe is everything opposite of being a hit. Same category as the Paul George’s but even I saw some of those in the wild and he had some pretty good models. This Sabrina joint….nah. Only place I see that shoe is on sale. Nike’s giving them away to athletes to create hype but so far…no dice. I think they just fullfilling the contract terms by making a 2.
Well it's a basketball shoe so basketball athletes wearing the shoe is the point
@@TalksWithTJ I hear ya but besides Jordans there aren't any hit bball shoes...actually scratch that those new AE1s are actually something I'd call a hit. I'm starting to see those in the wild on and off court and they have some nice colors. I guess my definition is something that transitions off the court and into lifestyle shoes.
