Hey guys have been reading lots of the comments and many of you have mentioned that with the LED bulbs the van will fail the MOT.
I actually got the van MOT’d about 5 days ago (with the LED bulbs being installed over 2 weeks ago) and it passed first time with no advisories so didn’t have any problems with the lights being an issue when getting checked. Just thought I would let you all know my experience 🤟🏼
Still illegal I'm afraid . The headlamp unit is type approved for filament bulbs not led. MOT is for vehicle road worthiness not legality. Look bloody cool though
As said, illegal and you will blind other road users, not cool or clever
Might be cos u have a projector lense and they couldn’t tell
Looks good will, but I'm not so sure of the legality of the 22 inch light bar on the rear. I think it would have to work independently from your standard reverse lights.it would be nice to know how your laws work over there. As for the led's there the way to go ,I use them in mine and makes night driving a pleasure.

He won't blind anyone as long as he aims the headlights properly 9 out of 10 times when people get aftermarket headlight bulbs they don't aim them and that's why they're blinding

CB Radio is perfect for Van life. For example you can ask local people about park up's, no go areas and facilities in an area you're unfamiliar with. Theres a few groups popped up on Facebook, one of which is "channel 24 van life CB group" 👍
You won't be able to stealth camp in Tesco's car park soon with the rate you're sticking stuff on the outside of your van :)
For anyone wanting to replicate that U channel , clamp set up Will has for his solar mounts and now light bar....... Drop into any decent electrical wholesalers and they sell all the correct parts to fit the channel without making it ( Its called Uni-Strut , the piece with a spring is known as a 'Zebbadee' and the top plate is a square plate (choice od hole size) all are zinc or galv coated .

Neil is so good what a man he is. Love these video’s. You keep saying don’t follow what I did but these video’s are great because they show the absolute reality of a project like this warts and all. Dude...I think Cartoon Network needs to make a cartoon of your adventures...the kids would love it. You just have a great personality and sense of humor.
That back light might be good to switch on if some thiefs try robbing you while your in the van it might scare them off and make them paranoid.

LOVE the look of the van build and increased visibility! You will use them on dark back roads when there is no oncoming traffic.
Bang goes the inconspicuous 'stealth' mode.
I suggest you wire them into a panic button circuit. Install panic button switches inside the van so that should you be attacked your lights strobe and an ear piercing alarm siren goes off. You never know. Better safe than sorry and the extra security adds to your peace of mind.

Yes, as said, special notice 01-21 vehicles with LED converted headlights after 1986 must be failed on MOT. Sorry mate.

You can connect your LED light bar to come on when you switch main beam on by using a relay. The relay coil is connected to the main beam circuit. The relay output contacts connects between the 12V power and your new switch on the dash. Great video, brilliant.

Back in the 80s I had a Datsun 120y and I put 2 spot lights on the back which helped with reversing and also when you had someone behind you with full beam on a flick of a switch soon made them turn them off.
All I can say Will is it's a good job you have a great friend there in that there Neil!!!!
Doing this text before I see the end result in those lights and hopefully darkness will be a thing of the past for with those light bars!!!!
Also I would seriously consider having a shower in your van with your toilet and a shower as well as all your other goodies in your van you can go completely off grid 👍👍, only thing you would want/need to top up is is fuel, water and of course food 👍👍👍

Only problem with led highlight bulbs is they've NO beam pattern
For everyone banging on about the LED bulbs failing an MOT. Most centres pass the vehicle as long as the beam pattern is correct and not dazzling on coming traffic. Although technically they are not MOT compliant, the tester usually cant see if it has LED bulbs or not without taking parts of your lights apart which they are not supposed to do during a test. So as long as everything shows that it works as it should from the light testing equipment that will be enough for them to be happy.
But still illegal and can invalidate your insurance

The purpose of the normal White Light at the rear of a modern automobile is not to illuminate the roadway behind, but simply to indicate to vehicles behind, that you are Reversing your motor vehicle.
Whenever serious Light is Required, fitment of an LED Light source is essential.

There called zebs and you get square washers to go on top of the strut and use m6 roofing bolts to fix it down

As others have said the LED’s are an MOT failure, but could also invalidate your insurance. It’s a modification to far….

Absolutely lush....looking very much like an adventure van/off roader.
Did you wire them independent of the ignition? As turning on the strobe if in doubt about outside/intruders/knobs a good security feature.

not heard too many positives about the legality of LED headlamps as a replacement for filament lamps I'm afraid.
I'm looking at yellow lamps for the front fog lights. Apparently cut through fog and falling snow better than white light and I think they're legal.

Just do it get the snorkel! Also make sure you aim the headlights properly so you don't blind people. When you did the side by side I noticed the led is pointing slightly higher then the stock bulb
