I first heard this version on my way home from a rough work day back in September. September through February is always a rough time for me because I lost my Mom back in November 2002, and then lost my Dad in February 2010. Every emotion hit me all at once, and I was crying by the end of the song. It just slaps you in the heart and slaps HARD. 😢
I'm sorry for your loss just stay strong hang in there I'm about to lose my mother any day now stage 4 Cancer after a severe stroke 5 years ago my father's not in the greatest of health taking it really hard but all we can do is pray and trust it thy lord 🙏

Loved Papa Roaches version for years, but FIR's just hits different. Maybe cuz I'm older and more in touch and definitely less angry.😮❤
Papa Roach put out a call for someone to do a cover of this. Ronnie stepped up and said I'll do it. He showed them his vision/version and they LOVED it to death. Gave him the thumbs up. To me, the original is teen angst and rash decisions, this version is adult sorrow, reflection and making a choice. GREAT reaction, great insights. I love all the different perspectives. Thanks!
Overwhelmed is my reaction. You're not wrong with it being a powerful message. The video matching the lyrics had me in tears. The emotion given in his deliverance was incredible. I will never be able to hear this song any other way, now that I have really listened to it! Thanks, guys, for bringing this to my attention!
I don't understand how people never heard the lyrics before when Papa Roach sang it... He literally screamed it at you...but I love this version more myself... But I've always known all the lyrics, it still hit me back in the day... But this one hits way harder in my opinion
We knew the lyrics and sang along with them. It just didn't hit us. We were in our twenties and we were 10 feet tall and bulletproof. This one doesn't scream at you. This one demands your attention in a different way.
I watched this video when it came out. When the original song came out when I was in 8th grade. I was going through a very dark time during that time, song hit me in a way that I related to the lyrics. what almost 25 years later, Ronnie does this, and takes this song, and makes it his very own. He took the time to really let these lyrics sink in, in a very beautiful but haunting way. I have gone through things in my life (deaths, life related things) where I was just done, I had to find something to keep me here. Mainly when your stuck in your head, and you can't get out without someone to help pull you up.
Papa Roachs version is youth anger, and this FIR version is for Adults going through shit! It slaps harder as an adult.😢 Made me cry.

Ronnie played a recording of just him playing the piano and singing feom his cell phone when they were touring together. Jacoby Shaddix absolutely love it. There is also a video of Jacoby watching the video after it was released.
Ronnie and Jacoby are friends , and was touring earlier this year together . The clips U saw off Ronnie showing it to Jacoby , before it was released , has a full version on YT . Thanks for a great reaction. I love both versions , I Play the papa roach version , when i need to get my anger and frustrations out , and FIR s when i need a big hug and a good cry .
I'm ashamed to admit I missed this when you first released it. Glad I went back and caught it now. I know Falling in Reverse and of course I'm familiar with Papa Roach's version of this song. But holy hell this version blows everything else I've heard completely out of the water!! This is incredible! Thank you for yet again making me aware of yet another masterpiece that I otherwise would have missed. THIS is why I love this channel! Keep up the awesomeness!

Oooh, y'all said something I never connected. I thought the statues were just a cool visual and of course I caught them crying as their world was being destroyed but until y'all said something I never thought about the humanity of it. The way we're (especially you men) supposed to bury our troubles and put on a strong face to everyone. They're trying to be stoic and calm and just quietly crying in the corner while everything falls apart.
I'm so glad you made that connection! It's amazing how art can reveal deeper meanings and emotions. It's a powerful reminder that we all have our struggles, even when we try to appear strong.

100% genious in his artistry of this version of the song, I have listened to it at least 50 times and about 40 of those times I cried listening to it b ecause you feel the energy and passion and pain through his use of tones and screams that if you are even remotely empathic you know he has been through some shit and he is channeling it into the song, truly stunning!

Just found y'all... there is a full video of Papa Roach hearing the initial cut of this. There were changes made and I believe Jacoby Shaddix is actually singing in the slow part "I can't go on living this way..." if I am not mistaken. I never heard the original until this came out. My son (32 years old) said to listen to the original first. He was NOT READY for this one... we almost were both in tears. GREAT reaction!!

Loved the original when it came out and love this cover because I identify with the lyrics since I had my first suicide attempt in the 3rd grade and was institutionalized for the first time

I absolutely love Ronnie's version. It fits the lyrics so much better. Plus: there are not many vocalist who have so much emotions in their voice.
Odd, the reaction I saw of Papa Roach he played them the whole song, and he was so anal about the sound he was adjusting it throughout to get the best sound he could, while saying it hadn't gone though post production yet. Loved both songs, and have to agree for emotional connection to the lyrics this is better.
