I tried this and it worked. I was impatient with the WD40 on my wife's car. The longer the WD40 was on the scuff mark, the easier it was to rub off the paint. A real lifesaver. Thanx so much.

Just used this technique on my black 370z Nismo. I had paint transfer on the passenger side of the front bumper. I seriously thought I was going to have to shell out some serious coin from a body shop. I used wd40, took my time and removed most of the paint. I started with a sponge, and then used the more abrasive side. The sponge was not super abrasive (one of the blue ones). I then used Meguiars Ultimate Compound. I polished it, wiped it down, and then did another application of compound. It literally worked. It took off ALL of the paint from the bumper. The key is being patient, some elbow grease, and you’ll get most, if not all of the paint.

Thanks so much for this! Just bought a used car that had a little spot of white paint transfer and got them to knock some money off because of it, I got home and searched if I could get it off myself and found this video. It worked like a charm the car had a little bit of damage under the transfer but having the white transfer off the black vehicle made a huge difference! So hats off to you, your the real MVP!

Amazing. Great Hack! And it Only Cost me $13.00...

Really hope this method works on black plastic too. My 60 year old mother just bought a "new" 2020 Hyundai Elantra. The problem is that it isn't brand new. Apparently, it was a rental for a few months, and the paint has a few scratches and transfers. There is a noticeable white paint transfer on the passenger side plastic mirror housing. I can't feel a scratch or scrape, but the paint is really pushed in hard. I tried Turtle Wax stain remover, but that only removed some. WD-40 and sponge is next!

Hey I have done the same thing a couple times and what really works a lot better is a mr. Clean sponge and water or windex. Infact those white kitchen sponges by mr clean work so well I will say 5 wipes would have removed that surface paint. WD 40 is a great product and quite versatile but for paint transfer removal go with a mr clean all purpose sponge hands down.
For more serious paint removal wet clay pick that up at Autozone or acetone but be careful with harsh chemical methods on clear coat. Nano skin works too.

OMG - I'm so grateful you posted this video. Today I scraped my Red Tundra along a sign posted. I had a long line along the entire side of the truck that was white. Whatever I sideswiped may have been plastic as I had no dent just paint and the sign I ran along looked perfect white still. My red paint didn't come off on it. Only the white paint came off on my truck. So, I'd try to scrape it off but it wasn't working. When I did this - Waaaalaaaa it was gone easily. THANK YOU!!!!
