    If you do this again, you can get a leather conditioner that rehydrates the leather and prevents it from cracking and drying out and getting nasty. You can put it on once a year or so and it just keeps the leather really soft and hydrated and stop it from getting bad.

    Good job... you can get the seat belts 100% brand new clean again... very quickly and very easily.... I am a 15 year master car detailer.... cleaning the seat belt by hand or with a wet vacuum is a waste of time and achieves very unsatisfactory results.... the best method is with degreaser and Pressure Wash.... first wet the exterior of your vehicle to prevent any overspray degreaser affecting any surfaces ...next unbolt the bottom of the seat belts and fully pull out the seat belt as much as it goes out of the vehicle and close the door on the seat belt so it does not retract.... do one seat belt at a time.... I use undiluted commercial acid degreaser....but Spray 9 will probably work just as well or any APC cleaner undiluted .... spray both sides of the seatbelt thoroughly with the degreaser.... you can get someone to help you or you can do it by yourself.... hold the end of the seat belt so it is stretched flat against the panel of your car with one hand.... then high pressure wash one side with the other hand.... making sure to get the pressure washer fairly close to clean all dirt out thoroughly.... then open the car door... flip the seat belt 180° and close the door again to stop it retracting.... then slowly blast the other side of the seat belt making sure to slide the buckle over and blast water over the entire seat belt.... once finished place a peg on the seat belt to stop it retracting and put the seat belt back in the car to allow it to dry fully before retracting it...

    Yes you are correct about the sharp edges of the frame. As for the seat heaters, the worse the short gets,the quicker it will shut off. When it breaks it will shut off the passenger seat also. I used new foam from Seat Shop and a new heating pad. Well worth the effort.

    You must be proud ! You did a GREAT job ! I watched all your other detailing video`s of this SUV, and you worked your a$$ off. It looks awesome bro.
    At 200K miles, you may want to look over the frame and make sure it`s not rusting. You may need to scuff the frame with a wire brush, and spray it with a primer/paint.
    I`ve had to do that on my trucks in the past, but here in Tennessee, when it snows they spray salt on our streets, which is really bad under neath a car or truck.

Held the road beautifully and the 6 cylinders went from 0 to 60 in a heartbeat. Too bad they stopped making those wagons. I would have bought another one.

    FWIW, for seat belt cleaning, use warm water & Woolite mix in a 5 gallon pail and just massage the belt in the mix until completely clean. Then a warm water rinse of clear water. I do this on a layer of thick towels so drips don't matter. So satisfying when it's perfectly clean.

    I wasn't able to comment on the previous video where you were cleaning the carpet in this vehicle, so you get it now: Bissell carpet cleaner with OXY sold at Lowe's will take out the brown stains like MAGIC. I've used it on a couple of cars, one of which the people we bought it from had already scrubbed and scrubbed and weren't able to even touch the stains. The car smelled clean but looked awful from all the stains. We sprayed the Bissell with Oxy, gave it a medium scrub, and the stains came right out. The Tahoe is looking fantastic! Thank you for restoring it!

    Hey Matt first time viewing your channel, Try some silicone spray after you clean those seatbelts.
    Also, check out the sweet project car channel for some good tips filling and coloring the cracks on the seat back.

    Microfiber cloth and water for seatbelts 👍 you can use a leather sealer on the seats to give it some shine back! Oh and was it blood or coke?😂😂

    To clean your seat belts all you need is: clamps, degreaser, and a bucket. Clamp the seat belt all the way out and dunk the belt in the bucket filled with hot water and a bunch of degreaser. Let it sit over night. Next day hold the seat belt out of the truck and close the door then spray the seat belt with a high pressure washer. This will super clean your belt and it will retract back so fast from then on.

    It’s amazing how clean they came broke they look brand new wasn’t the brush too abrasive for the leather? What happens if you have a perforated leather

    You can buy stickers that go over the buttons on Amazon. I bought them for 2 of my suburbans and they work really well and look nice. I have an 05 burban and a 2011 burban. Before I got the 2011 I had a second 05, but we traded it in for the 2011. I love my suburbans!! Now I know how relatively easy it is to change the seats I for sure will. Have you had any issues with the lifters? Both my 05 suburbans have had issues, they would tick REALLY bad!

    • @lsxmatt
      @lsxmatt  Před 5 lety +1

      Lifters seem fine. It has the usual piston slap when cold, but it goes away after like 20 seconds.

    Pull the seat belt all the way out and set a pan of clothes washing detergent (Gain) and warm water on the seat and put the belt in it. Use a brush to clean it and let it soak for two hours. Then rinse the belts in clear water in the pan. Use a clothes pin or vise grips to keep the from retracting. Dry with a towel and leave out to dry. Then they will retract easy too!

  • @joshbrnx

    Next time warm the seat up by letting them sit in the sun or using a space heater or heat gun even a hair dryer

  • @jewllake
    @jewllake Před 5 lety

    for the seat belts, pull them out all the way and out the door. Close the door on them to hold them out. Then on top of clean concrete scrub then down and hose them off with pressured water.

    Spray Nine is caustic stuff ... way too harsh for a leather seat. I’m surprised it didn’t pull more dye out of the seat covers. Looks good, tho. Well done.

    Great job on the seat covers replacement. May I make a recommendation? If you upgrade the tranny cooler lines, I def suggest getting a bigger tranny cooler. The Tru cool trans coolers are a good candidate. Heat kills that 4l60 and the cooler it runs the longer it will live, not to mention you'll also be towing. To get rid of the soft shifts and increase longevity of the trans, I would also intsall the Vette servo. It about twenty bucks and it's well worth it.
    Also, speaking of towing, I would also look into the hydroboost swap if that SUV doesn't have one already. Night and day difference and it won't make you "hole" pucker up when you have a hard braking situation. With the hydroboost, braking is effortless. You can order one new or source one from your local pick n pull for about 100 bucks. Several write ups on Tahoeyukonforum (tyf) and performance trucks.net
    From one GMT 800 owner to another, it's a great platform and I hope you enjoy it!!! I have a Yukon Denali with an lsa blower on it. I absolutely love it!

      I actually have a Tru-cool ready to go in. I ordered the fittings and bracket from a guy on PerformanceTrucks.net so I can retain the factory quick connects. Hope to have it installed soon! There will be a video on it👍
