Wemby is special. The physical intangibles are impossible to miss. But when I heard him speak on this podcast, that’s when I knew he was a generational talent.
My initial statline prediction was around 18 points 9 boards 2.5 blocks a game with 46% fg and low 30s from three. Safe to say he exceeded most people's expectation

Rudy speaking facts fr. I'm a Chet's fan but I honestly didn't expect Wemby to evolve so fast in his rookie season. Hands down ROY no discussion and this is coming from a Chet's fan. Chet's impact to winning more games than the spurs is undeniable but Wemby as an individual has surpassed all expectations. Hopefully the Spurs can add more pieces around Wemby in the offseason, spurs might even make the playoffs within 2 years
The only thing that will stop wemby from being a future Top 5 player ever is injuries. I pray the injuries god protect him

As much as any highlight play, every word I have heard Wemby say has been beyond impressive for a 19-20yo. It never sounds coached either, he just seems to have a great head on his shoulders. Him and his family really did a great job preparing him for the NBA on and off the court.
For real it’s his love of the game and competing at the highest level is clear from his interviews as well as how he reacts to wins/losses. He was nearly in tears when the team crossed 20 wins (Spurs franchise worst record). He’s not afraid to go up against superstars.
And that’s all without mentioning the dude is a 7-4 monster on both ends of the court, perimeter and inside
On durability, Wemby is built to last. The videos of his mobility are insane. His body can go through any motion and is used to it. He has bulletproof his body.
Being that size, I would never bet on him staying healthy. I hope so, but the taller you are, the less likely it is.
He's got some biomechanics he still needs to correct if he wants to last a long time. He's not bulletproof and being too flexible or too mobile leaves you just as prone to injury as being too stiff.
Yo facts and plus he’s only dude that size that I’ve seen be able to do the damn splits lmao, he’s has some crazy flexibility so I don’t imagine he’ll get seriously hurt unless it’s really just a freak accident

Wemby has the talent to be an all-time great the only question still is his health. If you remember porzingis 1st 2 or 3 years he was taking people off the dribble, shooting pullup 3s, bringing the ball up but it caught up to him and he was injured for a while. Now he mostly posts up or only shoots 3s in the catch and shoot.
I think the health narrative is a stupid talking point. Every NBA player has a risk of injury. Wemby had no injuries his rookie season and he is incredibly flexible and agile(he works relentlessly). I foresee good health for the 👽

Wembanyama is on a spurs team who just recently had a dynasty and are now tanking in a rebuild. Are you really that stupid?
Isn't that the Spurs fault though? Internally they've admitted as much : a) They overestimated how good their roster was; b) They underestimated how good Wemby would be. The Spurs built a much better roster for Robinson when he arrived, acquiring All-Stars to play around him like Terry Cummings and a vet PG/AS like Maurice Cheeks; Tim Duncan had an AS David Robinson to join up with along a veteran squad and Tim was the youngest guy on the team. By the next year, when they won the chip, Spurs had brought in 2 new starters and revamped the bench. So yeah, look up the record, but don't just skim the stats like an NBA casual and take a little time to reflect behind the numbers. And in any case, Giannis, KD, Kyrie, and Steph didn't have great rookie years win-wise and they turned out OK. Positionless basketball -- maybe look that up while you're at it.

First, you clearly don't know the difference between centers (which I listed), forwards, and guards.
Second, the Spurs do not have more wins than last year. That has NEVER happened with any" great" center coming into the NBA.
Third, great players raise the level of play from their teammates (that is what makes them great and Wannabe hasn't done that).
Fourth, stop cherry picking NBA history by focusing only on Duncan (I listed 7 other centers and could have added more).
